Holiday Pull-Apart LoafIris flourish

Ingredients

cup warm water

package yeast

T butter, plus extra for buttering bowl and pan

¾

 

cup milk, warmed

¼

 

cup sugar

1

 

t salt

1

 

large egg

 

cups flour

pinch sugar

Directions

  1. In a small bowl, combine water with a pinch of sugar and sprinkle yeast on top. Let sit for for 5 minutes, until yeast dissolves and foams. Lightly butter a large bowl and set aside.
  2. In a mixer bowl, mix milk, sugar, salt, butter and, egg. Add yeast mixture and combine thoroughly. Slowly add flour and mix thoroughly. Turn out onto a floured surface and knead for 5 minutes. Place dough in the buttered bowl, cover, and let rest for 20 minutes.
  3. Preheat oven to 350°F. Generously butter a bundt pan and set aside.
  4. In a small saucepan, combine brown sugar and butter. Cook over medium heat until sugar has dissolved. Transfer to a large wide bowl and allow to cool.
  5. After dough has rested, twist off 1" pieces of dough. Roll each piece into a ball, then roll balls in sugar mixture to coat evenly. Lay the balls into the bundt pan. Cover and rest for one hour, until dough is doubled. Remove cover and bake for 30–35 minutes.
  6. Cool for 20 minutes. Invert onto a large platter. Garnish with fresh berries and serve warm with coffee.
