Morning After Waffles

- In a medium bowl, combine dry ingredients.
- In a small bowl, combine remaining ingredients.
- Make a well in flour mixture and add liquid ingredients; whisk until combined.
- Pour about 3/4 cup batter into waffle iron and cook for 3 minutes on each side.
Our campfire “Morning After Waffles” are perfect for old-fashioned cast-iron waffle irons, like those designed for use with wood cook stoves. Here are some tips for better cast-iron waffles:
- Make sure your iron is well seasoned. Additional cooking spray may be needed between waffles.
- Make sure your iron is very hot before pouring in batter. You need a good base of coals in the fire, but if it’s too hot, the waffles will burn.
- Don’t open the iron to peek. You may ruin the waffle, and besides, you’re cheating.
