Buttermilk-Cherry Scones

cup cold butter, cut into chunks

Directions
- Preheat oven to 400°F. Butter a 12" cast-iron skillet.
- In a large bowl, stir together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add the butter and beat with an electric hand mixer until just blended. Stir in the cherries and orange zest. Gradually add the buttermilk until all the dry ingredients are incorporated.
- Form a ball with the dough and turn out onto a lightly floured work surface. Press the dough into an 8" circle, about ½"–¾" thick. Cut the circle into eight wedges.
- Place the scones ½" apart in the prepared skillet. Bake 20–25 minutes, until golden.
- While the scones are baking, whisk together glaze ingredients.
- Remove scones from oven and brush on the glaze. Allow to cool completely.
