A Garden of ’s

G is for the gorgeous growth in Grandma’s garden. Geraniums, goldenrod, gladiolas, and gardenias are just some of the old-fashioned flowers behind her white picket fence.

Grandma knows the success of her plants depends on pollination by our little friend, the gregarious honeybee. The honeybee and the garden work together to create perfect harmony and balance in order for both to survive and flourish.

Her granddaughter and grandson giggle with glee as they catch a glimpse of the gilded, gleaming abdomen of the female worker bee. She gives her all when gathering the pollen and nectar from every grateful flower. It is without gluttony or gallantry that the honeybee works from sunup till sundown for the gratitude of her colony. A community of unmatched grace, honeybees are a glowing example of the glory of life.

Grandma knows the glorious honeybees deserve our respect and guardianship and guarantees their health and safety by gardening organically. After a satisfying day working in the garden, she sits in her rocker and gathers the giggling grandkids by her side. They all gaze at the glow of the evening’s grand finale, the glimmering sunset. Grandma guesses it’s time to pass on an important message to the little ones: “The general health and well-being of our beloved planet relies on this glaringly clear message: Organic is the great (and only) way to go!”

Guzzling their grape juice, the kids give Grandma their empty glasses and a great big, glee-filled hug.
