That's such a cute rain chain. You sure do have a lot of junque! Good junque!

Oops, quiltee, my bad!! I didn't space
My photos so it looks like a rain chain, but it is actually a melodic wind chime.

Nice windchimes -- how do they sound? Dad used to go to flea markets and buy old silverware and make things with it like wind chimes and napkin holders. When he passed us girls got boxes of old silverware. My daughter and I cleaned up ours and use it. Fun to eat with mismatched silver; we each have our favorites in patterns.

Judith, it sort of sounds like the bamboo wind chimes,,. Only tinny...
But it does look cute hanging from the Cherry tree and it doesn't scare off the deer or birds...

WOW, I just looked at this post and marveled at all the creative handwork and creations! Earlier this Summer, I redid an old porch chair that was in need of some TLC immediately. Here is where I started.

Next, I scraped off all the layers of paint and sanded the surfaces down. Next, I repainted it a warm white that has a hint of yellow. Here it is on the front porch again all repainted and hopefully protected. The chair is really nicely made by hand and I didn't realize how nice it was until I removed all the old paint layers and sanded it back up.

Almost done, just need to buy some snow flakes shaped buttons to add to it the top.
This idea came to me from my dear friend Jutta, who lives in Berlin Germany,,, she is an avid cross stitcher, quilter and Gardener.
Her blog is called" Stopf und Nadel. ".

They are sew easy to make... 2 PC of fabric, a solid and a print. Using a plate trace the circle. Cut out the circle then fold in half to get a center line and cut. Now you have 2 sets of 1/2 circles. Sew all the way around one set leaving a 2-3" opening on the straight edge side. Fold right side out, press. It is a bit tricky the first time you try to fold, I use a ruler to help.. solid side up fold over so print side shows then fold back and the over again.
I used the ruler to be my guide
for the fold line.
Pin and press
Then make a few hidden tack stitches to keep each fold in place

If you want to be a bit creative,, tack down using clear or color seed beads to look like ornaments on the tree.
A star or snow flake button on top and a bit of gold or... String trim to hang it with.

Yep, Christmas is just around the corner, time to get started on our holiday Saco crafts!
Heeheehee... Or should I say HO HO HO...

Very cute idea for ornaments, Grace.

This is the same thing I have done with a 18-20" circle and used as napkins. You do not tack them down, since they are used as a half circle on your lap.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions for wedding needle point that I wanted to make for a wedding gift for my nephew and soon to be wife. Well I did not find a needle point but I found a printed cross stitch, I have never done cross stitch I am hopping that it is not too hard. I thought the printed one would be easier . I found it from Hershners (not spelled right) web site. I also got a small needle point of a hummingbird to work on for one of my sisters Christmass. so as soon as I get them I will start .

My mother did LOTS of needlepoint and cross-stitch pieces. I have a lot of them. I have donne some of both, too, and you shouldn't have trouble with them.

VT Oma,,, Both Herschners and Mary Maxim were the go-to catalog for women who loved to knit, crochet, needle point, cross stitch..and in the 1970's even a few macrame kits.

My first experience with stitchery was on printed cross stitch,, then I fell in love with counted cross stitch, now my eye vision is terrible even with reading glasses, that I have to use a magnifier.. but my eyes tire easily. Buggers!!!!
Have fun stitching and show us a photo of your finished projects.

Grace, I love these darling ornaments you are making! I am guessing you add a loop so they hang on the tree? I can’t wait to see how you finish them off with the ideas you have of beads or snow flakes. So CUTE!

Awesome Ornaments, Grace! And, starting with larger circles . . . 18 inches or larger -- use the same folding formula and voila delightful napkins for holiday dinners.
