Catherine - I sent you an e-mail with this information, but I wanted you to get it for sure, so...I wanted you to know that when I visited Aunt Jenny, she gave me a "baby" starter from the starter that you sent her, (what a great gal she is!) so you can take me off of your list and send "mine" to the next lucky farmgirl. You are so very generous with the starter and the information - Jenny let me copy your instructions, and they are perfect - especially for someone like me who hasn't worked with sourdough before. You are just so sweet to do this. Thank you!!!

XOXO, Libbie

Libbie, I'm so happy that you got some. Yours is now the grandbaby or the third generation. The love is just gettin' spread all over the place!

Wow. I've been wishing I could find a starter for months now. I used to have one that I used to make "friendship" bread with... can the potato starter be used in sweet breads too?

Yippee!! I think I've 'perfected' the dehydrating of my starter. The next batches sent will be in the powder / dried form with directions on how to rehydrate.

Gals, if it doesn't work, let me know and I will send the regular liquid starter.

The next batch is.....

Good for you Catherine, fill me in, I'd love to know how to dehydrate the one you sent me since I won't be baking much over the summer and I think it would keep better that way over being frozen?

Hey Gals!!

I owe big apologies for not being reliable the last few weeks. Life has just gotten busy and I haven't been able to devote time to the sourdough.

But, I have 4 dehydrated sourdoughs ready to mail. I need to check my notebook to see who is next on the list. I'll post later who will be next. Thank you for being patient with me.

Blessings

I just have to say that since receiving the starter, I've been baking bread about every 3 days, alternating between white and wheat, and I LOVE IT!!! THANK YOU, thank you, thank you!!! - and, Catherine, you'll be glad to know that I have given "grandbabies" of your starter to three farmgirls here - including my mom, and they're all loving it, too!

Suzie and Betty Jo, you're added to the list! Make sure to email me your address. If you haven't done it yet, just click on the icon of the envelope within my post and it'll give you a message window to send.

Libbie, I'm so glad you're enjoying the starter! It can be hard to get in the habit of baking bread every few days. But, once you get a rhythm going, it's pretty easy to add it to your morning or evening routine. You've done good, girl!!

Blessings

Thanks! It's almost automatic, now, and I was SO proud to drive up to Salt Lake City and give a nice loaf of bread to both my father-in-law and my parents. They really should be thanking YOU!!!

I would LOVE to have a starter too! How do you dehydrate it? I'd love instructions on that also. I'll email you my address, and you can put me at the bottom of the list!

Thanks!

I'm just happy you're willing to do this! :) Are the groups of names in order basically meaning one group per week/batch?

I can't wait! :) Thanks so much!

Thanks for putting me on the list for starter. I've been talking to my ole teddy bear of a husband about making bread and a bit worried about kneading it, since my hands give me fits sometimes. I guess he was listening, cause I heard 'Mr. Brown' coming up our sandy lane on Monday. The teddybear was off work so he went out to get the package (and I didn't get to give the driver a hug). But I did give the teddybear a big ole hug, cause the box held the biggest Kitchenaid mixer they make, a 600 watt 6 qt. Early birthday present for me, and I don't have to worry about kneading the bread!
I see they are selling the soft white wheat whole grain flour in the regular stores now too.

Life is good!
