We made it safely to our Ohio family. Enjoying our time with the grands who are growing like weeds. Our little man is 8 mos. today and scooting along after his sisters. Our Em made us a rainbow of buttons. She's going to be our creative farmgirl.

Perhaps mounting her cute picture on some foam board, then putting it in a frame would preserve it for many years. I read once that you can use a regular frame to make a "shadow box". Just add some straws or dowels, so the glass is about 1/4" -3/8" above the buttons, well it allows the glass to float above the buttons. I wonder if a tiny bit of glue to hold the dowels in place might help keep them in place. ???

Near the end of my freshman college year, I went home with a girl across the hall( in the dorm)' for a couple of days. Her parents had a tiny store in the tiny community where they lived. Mid afternoon she asked if I wanted to go get ice cream. Well of course! So we went to see her daddy. Then we went home and made orange crush floats with the vanilla ice cream. They were so good. Every Saturday I look for orange crush at Walmart...but I never have come home with any. Sometimes they are sold out of Dr. Pepper!

Even when my little boy was about two, we would go to the neighborhood store. He would stand there in front of the counter where you paid out, looking at all of the penny candies on display at eye level for him.. I would always give him one penny to buy a candy. Of course I also told him that if he bought kits, he got four candies...He usually bought a sucker.
When he was born we lived next to the assistant manager of Piggly Wiggly. He and his wife could not have kids, so they loved Wade. Every week he would weigh my baby, in those old timey scales they had at every check out counter as well as back in the meat area. They did not swing. Then when Wade could sit up in the buggy, Walter always gave him a chocolate Tootsie Roll pop. One day we left the store with chocolate running down the giraffe I had embroidered on his summer romper, that was white! I remember being so afraid it would not come out...but it all turned out good.

I see orange sodas all the time - think it is Crush. And I mostly shop at WalMart. I wonder why your WalMart doesn't stock enough? I love orange soda and vanilla ice cream.

Another great combination is the green Chocolate Mint ice cream and Sprite.

Orange crush over ice cream oh so good. I luv ice cream. My mom and dad luved ice cream. We ate it in the winter when snow was on the ground. If we didn't have ice cream, momma would make snow cream. Eeeek brain freeze. lol.

I love snow icecream...but snow rarely falls where I live now. We ate snow ice cream frequently when I was growing up, because it snowed where we lived for my first 17 years.

I have been bogged down with things away from the computer and have been missing all of the conversations here! I enjoyed hearing how many of you also adore orange soda with vanilla ice cream!! What a pair of flavors for summertime!

Denise, your granddaughter's button rainbow is just adorable and such a clever idea! Obviously a Farmgirl in Training!!

Thank you Linda. I am making decorative folders to keep everything they have made me. They did some great art work this year. The school puts it up on their page and their mom let's we grandparents choose the ones we want at the year's end.
