Winnie I know you are tickled pink to have all the farm fresh produce. Happy freezing and canning.

The next time you have a batch of corn thy putting up corncob broth. It's good as a base for veg & potato soups and corn chowder.

How I do it:

6 corncobs
onions; garlic; fresh herbs of choice
spring water to fill slowcooker

cook overnight on low

strain using cheesecloth or Viva paper towels
pressure can at 10 lbs for 30 min
I use the Ball Blue Book guideline for vegetable broth.

I use Viva towels to strain broths
any paper towel that will hold liquid without tearing will do

Winnie, how close to your daughter are you. Does she live in a rural area? It sounds like she does with wild plums and all of that corn. Yum!!!

Hi Denise, you ask me how my Aunt was doing. She is about the same. I will be going to see her. They put a small feeding tube in and she has a supplement for that. She doesn't really take anything by mouth unless it's something to drink. She says her tongue doesn't work right. She does still go to church on Sundays not sure about Wed. You can walk to her church in 5minutes or drive in two. So I just continue to pray for her. She is a strong lady. Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers.

Marlee my all time favorite sandwich is any cheese, tomato, and mayo on any good bread. Last time I ordered it at the Paris Coffee Shop the girl behind the counter asked me twice if that was all I wanted on my sandwich.

Debbie, I have never heard of corn cob broth, but it sounds very useful to have on hand!

Marilyn, my Kelley lives on a farm with her hubby about 12 miles up the road. She works full time but keeps a small herd of milking goats and makes delicious cheese too. She is a true blue Farmgirl!! Tomato sandwiches sound good to me too! I like to put fresh basil leaves on top of mine for extra flavor.

Marlee, sending prayers for your aunt. She sounds amazing with her fortitude.

Marilyn wanted me to let you know her internet is out till Monday so she will be back when she gets it back.

Today I am roasted here, it is in its 80’s I don’t do hot weather well. Our normal weather is maybe 70’s so I am melting.
Have a good evening.
Love you all!

Those tomatoes look so good and the fact that taste like homegrown tomato is a winner!

I posted a giveaway from MaryJane for a copy of her Milk Cow Kitchen book this month to honor National Dairy Month. Hop on over if you wish to put your name in the hat!

Spent this morning at a graveside service for a long time friend. Only one of her 3 sons was able to be there. Very nice service. I had to leave at 730 because I was riding with some friends. We vhad vCardvto leave there at 815. I am unfamiliar with the area where they had it. Just got back home at 2. It took an hour from my friends place and the service was an hour. Back to church for a luncheon they served and a half hour back home again. Makes for a long day.

Connie that tomato sure looks tasty!

Winnie, I have that book of MaryJane's. What a nice thing for you to do!

Sara, and Marlee you and my next to the last principal are the only tomato sandwich lovers I know!!! I like mine with cheese and mayo or miracle whip too! I have never eaten one that I did not make myself. Do you also like fried potato sandwiches? When my body says I need to eat mustard...I do...on two pieces of fresh white bread with one potato sliced in thin slabs and fried. Salt is essential as is a tall glass of ice cold milk!Yum, yum!

Marilyn there's not much I haven't put between two slices of bread or do a fold over. Been known to just put mustard or Mayo on a sandwich. For my early supper this evening I had a fold over with cashew butter on multi-grain bread with banana sprinkled with cinnamon. Should hold be till breakfast.

Ever had a sweet onion and butter sandwich? I think of it as a country cousin sandwich to the British cucumber and butter sandwich. The later I have had at fancy teas.

Sara, my mom used to pack onion sandwiches for my dad in his lunch. He loved them. Not sure how his co-workers felt about it though.

Raising my hand - I too eat pork n/ bean sandwiches. I watch British comedy "As Time Goes Bye" on PBS and they eat beans out of a can on toast so I guess I'm in good company. Dame Judy Dench stars in the show.

A cold meatloaf sandwich is a treat or liver loaf. Growing up we called liver loaf goose liver.
