Winnie,
Did you find Betty Wainthrop on Acorn?
Yes on the postage. Postcards will be 55 cents if they are oversized according to the website. But the oversized may have always been the same as a letter.

I think the pony express needs to do a much better job before they demand more money!!!
Mail service in 2018 was the worst I have ever seen! Slow, very slow...NO it was extremely slow. It took a month for my Christmas card to get to Connie!!! That was only one incident!

Our postal does leave a bit to be desired but they do lose out to all of the different carriers. I'm not sure why the other carriers can do it cheaper but it seems to be so. I really don't understand the ins and outs of it all.

I have finished The Egg Basket Murders and sent it to my list of names. I added Linda and Connie. If I do not have your name and you wish to receive it please let me know.

I edited it once so you may find typos, errors, and the odd word here and there. That said enjoy.

It's longer than I had intended. Don't know how Arthur Colin Doyle wrote the Sherlock Holmes short stories.

Hello everyone,

I know it's been a while since I've said much! Where do I begin ...

As you all know, I closed my quilt shoppe, Fibre Junction, back in Oct 2017 and started to look for work. If you've gone back to school to get a graduate degree and then opened your own business ... it basically means to prospect employers that you've either been out of the work field, or you're over qualified! In my case, it's been 11 years since I worked for someone! Despite the fact that I was not limited geographically, I had a difficult time finding work ... but was fortunate to be hired by UPS as an Analyst. I've been full time for the past six (6) months. It was all new to me, I had no experience in trade/tariff etc ... With the extra tariffs imposed, as well as the Government shut down, work has slowed down substantially. I love my hours ... 3:30 pm to midnight. I so enjoy my mornings!

I recently came back from a one-week retreat at the Kripalu center. I just love going there, the food is amazing! I spent the week in a retreat with Jack Kornfield (I love that man) on Compassion. It was a week of silence, meditation, contemplation and Buddhist psychology ... basically heaven!

This is my little Pumpkin's last semester in College ... Yea, my baby is graduating. It also means that my finances will be a little looser I love that kid!

I've been busy taking care of my mum, who suffered a stroke in 2017. It is heart breaking to see my mum this way. I drove to Montreal on Tuesday for a doctor's appointment ... just seeing her struggle with her speech as she made an attempt to explain something to the doctor... tears welled ... It's a balancing act between allowing her the time to formulate her sentence/retrieve her words and stepping in when she shows signs of frustration. My mum was so articulate ... eloquent in her speech!

As you can see, my time has been spent between work and going to Montreal at least once a week if not more. I haven't spent much time creating/quilting. I have been writing/journalling a lot ... and reading beautiful cookbooks about farm life ... dreaming of my future! Basically, my life has been about holding on to my peace! Quiet and solitude has been my constant companion ... by choice!

I guess that's it for now. I hope all is well with you all! Thank you for taking the time to catch up on my recent journey!

Farmgirl hugs,

Carole

Denise enjoy my little story.

Carole good to read your post. I'm sorry to hear about your mother. Prayer sent her way. You have had a couple of years of challenges and changes. Hope this year is a happier one for you.

Enjoyed my morning. My sister Bobbie and I ate at the Paris Coffee Shop. I had 1/2 a chicken salad sandwich and a small serving of baked potato soup. Both very good and I left a little of each. Munched on 3 or 4 potatoes chips which is really hard to do.

Sara, I'm excited to read your new story!
Carole, So good to hear how your doing , so sorry about your mom, it's so hard to see someone so full of life have to struggle with health issues and your Pumpkin has grown up so fast, as children do!

Marilyn, I have never in 30 years had so much mail delivered months late or not at all. Winnie sent me a package in early November that was returned to her almost 2 months later, with no post marks, no explanations!
Really feels like Winter here in West tennessee this month so far!

I hope your peace and dreams for the future work out for you. Change can be a hard thing to wrangle into something different and rewarding.

I've seen the mystery bird two other times. Both at dusk or a little after. Once in a yard two houses behind me. It was in a tall tree looking for prey with it's back to me. He flew off and I could see by his wings he wasn't a buzzard but couldn't see his head well enough to tell if he was a hawk. The other time he was circling overhead. Same thing as before I could tell by his wings he wasn't a buzzard but couldn't see his head.

Sara, it was god to be back with Pearl and gang in last night's reading of Egg Basket Mystery! I love all of the details of life interactions and the characters who form her inner circle.

Denise, the mysteries of Heddy Wainthrop are not in our Acorn. WE searched and searched last night. When I looked up her name on Google, it mentioned I-TV was the location of her stories but we are not on that system. The series is also not on Netflix or Amazon Prime that we could find either. Guess, I need to head to the local library to see if they have it on file. The details listed on Google sound like these would be just my kind of story! I just have to keep digging locally!!
