Sounds like a sweet little helper you have there Julie. It has started to get really hot here. Hard to work out in it for long.

Oh Julie, I bet he is just so cute helping you! Today I almost had the whole day to myself. My daughter was not working and had a dentist appointment, so she decided to take Lily with her. She thought it would be a nice introduction to the dentist, and that Lily would be interested in everything and sit still. Ha ha! So I had to go rescue Lily from the dentist office -- or rather rescue the dentist office from Lily! Hee Hee!

Happy Day!

I spent a bit in the ER with Sawyer last night. I had been watching for signs and symptoms of strep from the boys...nothing. Sawyer didn't seem to want to stay asleep last night. At first I thought it was but b/c he was stuffy, so I got some oils going. I felt him, no fever. I got Matt up for work and Sawyer still kept fussing in his sleep. I started noticing he was coughing and swallowing, so I got the flashlight. I BARELY caught a glimpse of his tonsils. He was half asleep and screaming at me, covering his mouth. I got really worried, instantly, as his tonsils were almost touching (doctor called them "kissing")!!! He never complained, acted sick, or ANYTHING! Fear of his throat closing off had me loading the kids up at 11:30PM and driving in the pouring rain to the ER, usually 40 min away, but about 50 last night. Luckily, the visit was short, 30 min or so. Advil and Amoxicillan. I had to hold him down for a swab. :( Afterwards I bought popsicles to eat on the way home. After all was said and done, I was in bed at 3am for the night. :/

I am worried about Shannon. I have emailed her. I hope she checks in soon. :(

Oh my Alicia, I hope you can sneak in a nap today. I am going to try as I (we, I found out later) were up at 4:30. I stayed up but dh had come downstairs to sleep as it was so hot up there. When I woke up I didn't realize he wasn't in bed. I came down and turned on the air, went to the bathroom and went back to bed. After checking the time I realized he was not there and then I couldn't get back to sleep. I got online. Bad idea because then I really didn't get back to sleep. When I got up JT was upstairs getting ready for work and I asked him what time he went downstairs. He said around 4 so that is probably what woke me. Then I found out as he was going through the kitchen into the family room he met my dad coming through to get to the bathroom. Startled the daylights out of dad. LOL! poor guy. When we got downstairs this morning we all had a good laugh at how everyone was up but the others didn't know it.

Alicia, your poor little guy must have caught Isabella's strep. One classic trait of strep tonsillitis is it's rapid onset. It can come on in a matter of a few hours and most likely that is why he had not seemed sick earlier in the evening.

I have been thinking about Shannon as well with a very sick Aly and the big move. Please let us know if you hear from her!

Denise, last night sounded like something from a comedy movie! It is exhausting just thinking about being up all night. I hope you got a chance for a nap today!

Hello everyone,

Recently returned from a two day trip. We were in Geneseo for Pumpkin's orientation. It was a lovely couple of day of getting to know the university etc.... It sure makes me want to go back to school! The weather was hot! Gosh, we were get well, it's a good thing we did a lot of walking and hill climbing. Geneseo is not flat. I sure don't have to worry about Pumpkin not eating well or not getting enough exercises! lol

Amy - Cute pictures. You are always welcome to do a side trip to my house. Of course, it would probably be easier if I met you somewhere. By the way, on our way to Geneseo, we passed Troy. I thought of you! lol

Sandra - Good to see you on the forum. Hope the weather has cooled down a bit for you.

Alicia - Nice Selfie! lol Adorable kids you have!

Julie, What fun to have an adorable little Oliver to help you! Glad he is feeling better.

If anyone has any news about Shannon, please do share. Not sure that she is reachable by phone at the moment. Let's hope that she checks in soon.

Off to continue catching up!

I imagine Shannon is up to her elbows in packing boxes at the moment. Being pregnant and having another one not feeling well. Definitely keeping her in prayer.

Carole, sounds like your orientation visit with daughter was fun. There is something very energizing about starting college. All the possibilities and excitement of a new place with new people and opportunities to learn new ideas!

Alicia thanks for letting us know Shannon is hanging in there. Continued prayers for Aly and your little boy for healing. How is he feeling today? Is Isabella well and feeling herself again?

Carole, so glad you had a good trip. Is your daughter super excited about college? I remember my daughter was mostly scared!

Alicia, sorry everyone is having to take antibiotics, but you know what the say about an ounce of prevention . . . Hope everyone in back to normal soon. Thanks for the update on Shannon!

Darlene, I know you were happy to see those raindrops. We've had nothing but clouds and rain for a couple of weeks. Very humid, too. But today is finally sunny and less humid, and supposed to be that way over the weekend. Yippee! :)

Alicia~ Hopefully this will be the end of it for you with the sickness going through.

Darlene~ I would be more than happy to share some of the rain we have been getting. We are supposed to have nice weather today through the weekend. I am looking forward to it and also to getting some things done.

Carole~ Will your daughter start this fall? I don't really know quite yet what it is to be an empty-nester as my son who went away to school came back and works for his dad. So he still lives at home while getting his school loans paid off.

Hello everyone,

I apologize for being MIA, again. It's just crazy right now. So much going on ... I need a vacation!

Alicia, Thank you for the news on Shannon. I hope your family starts to feel better soon.

Denise and Amy, Pumpkin is my only child. She will be starting in the fall and has quite a busy schedule - Biology, physics, calculus and an anthropology class. She is so excited about attending. She just loves the school and has already gotten into the spirit of the Geneseo Knights - their mascot name as well as sport teams! I do not have to worry about her starving to death, the food was amazing. They use a lot of locally/grown raised foods.

I'm really overwhelmed at the moment, so if I am MIA it's because I need to retreat and regroup. Thank you for your understanding.

Carole, No worries that is what is nice about this wonderful group. I know for me it was nice knowing you all were still here when I was gone such a long time dealing with Dad's surgeries. Wonderful that she is looking forward to school and looks like she is going to have her hands full... of books and studies. Will be praying for you.

Hi everyone, just catching up. We finally had some nice weather this weekend, what a relief to see the sun. I'll be spending most of the week getting ready to go to Martha's Vineyard next Saturday. It will be the four generations, Mom, my daughter Bonnie, little Lily and me. I'm hoping it will give Bonnie and I some time to talk, I feel we need to reconnect. The Vineyard is a quiet, low key place, so it's a good place to recharge.

Carole, I remember that summer before Bonnie's freshman year very well. It's unbelievable how much work is involved. I'm glad you've taking a little time here and there to rest. I just asked the ladies if they would like "Feast Nearby" for our next book!

Alicia, is everyone in your house recovered? Have you heard any more from Shannon?

Darlene, have you recovered from your accident?

Sandra, please don't feel you need to apologize, it's lovely hearing from you whenever you are able to post.

Happy Day!
Peace in our hearts, peace in the world
