You know, I just replied to a funny e-mail Darlene sent me and I stated that I would be going to bed and here I am still on the forum! lol I just remembered something I was suppose to do a while back. We're talking a few weeks ago!

I know we have lots of talented gals here. Let us all put our heads and talents together and come up with a logo that will represent our henhouse.

What do you say? Let's get our creative juices flowing. What do you think would represent our henhouse?

Oh, I will be sending an e-mail to Brian to get the date the Scattered Prairie Henhouse was established. My source was not able to assist me. I hope to finally have a Henhouse anniversary date!

Let's get creative and have fun!

Great idea, Carole, for a logo. Once decided, maybe we can have a necklace design like we had for the Jubilee and purchase to add to our Sisterhood necklaces?

Gosh, what a great idea! I'd truly love a charm, and maybe a badge, too? I'm afraid my art skills are limited at best -- maybe something like a dandelion with the little puffs blowing off in different directions? You know, like we're all from the same flower or root, but scattered in different directions? Actually, I don't even know if dandelions even grow on the praire, I've never been there -- do they?? :) Well, that's an idea, anyway, but doing an actual design is way out of my skill range! Now, if we wanted a Henhouse song . . . THAT I could do! Hee Hee!

Happy Day!

Dandilions do grow very well on the prairie. They grow amazingly well on my lawn. I don't have any suggestions for a new logo, but I will ponder it a bit and see what I can come up with.

Ok, but if we get a logo, badge, charm, song and a pledge, we have to figure out how to get us all together for a ceremony! :)

Great ideas everyone! I like the dandelion idea myself. If it wasn't for the dandelion, not many mom's would get flowers. It is also edible, and you can make wine with it! lol It is such a practical flower. Cheers!

You can make jelly with dandelions too. Are we going to make up a badge too? I am going to think about this a bit more. I asked my granddaughter what she thinks of when she thinks of the prairie and she said a prairie dog. I'm not sure that would really fit the bill for us. Hoping we get input from everyone.

My mind just goes blank when I try and think up a prairie logo. When I think of prairie, I think of wheat fields which used to be the little logo of the group. Having never lived on a prairie, I am unfamiliar with the flowers and landscape details. Sorry for not being very helpful here! Better minds will prevail!!

I was still thinking on that too, Winnie. It is the only thing that comes to mind but it may be because it was what we had before this. I still have the necklace Debbie gave us and my t shirt but I don't know where Debbie got the necklace.
Since this is kind of a new group it would be nice to have something new but, like you the only thing that came to mind is the wheat sheaf.
JT and I were talking about this last night and he asked if we were the "Little Hen House on The Prairie". His humor. Anyway, I was thinking today when I get back from appointments I thought it would be nice to look some things up about the prairie.

I can certainly answer any questions anyone has about the prairie, having lived on it all my life. I haven't been following or participating much since this is our super busy season. I just popped into the house to grab a quick lunch, since I didn't pack a sandwich this morning and thought I would check on everyone. How about the Wild Prarie Rose. It grows everywhere, very close to the ground and is a beautiful pink. It is also North Dakotas state flower. The cone flower grows in most Prarie states also. Gotta run my tractor and rake are waiting.

I lived in Colorado and did got through Kansas a few times growing up and we had to drive through the Prairie, I remember lots of grassy fields. I liked my mountains more at the time. The Wild Prairie Rose sounds pretty.

The wild prairie rose really sparked my imagination. If I was going to write us a song (and it's very possible) that would be very inspiring for me. Denise, I have to say the "Little Henhouse on the Prairie" gave me a big grin when I read it!

I really like the wild prairie rose! That would be nice stitched or printed on a badge and wouldn't that make a beautiful charm?

Amy, that would be great if you came up with a song and I think someone else mentioned a poem. Lots of wonderful suggestions.

I know we have lots of artistically talented ladies in our group. Can anyone draw a logo with their favourite idea - Prairie Rose, Dandelion, corn flower and send me a picture and I can have everyone vote on it.

Thanks

I am not artistic in the field of drawing so I will have to wait and just vote on one. I did see some nice sketches, when I googled my favorite of these choices though.

I'm also excited to hear if anything has happened with the logo. I kind of hope the wild prairie rose is part of it, because I kind of do have an idea for a song floating around in my head. It's got the phrase "Scattered petals of the wild prairie rose" in the refrain. Actually that's about all it's got,but it's a strong little bit of inspiration. I also just happened to find a counted cross stitch chart for a wild prairie rose. I could try to post a picture if anyone's interested.

There is a lot of alfalfa on the prairie too!
I remember that when we traveled in Colorado when I was little.
The prairie rose sounds pretty though

Amy, it did sort of die out! I take responsibility for that. I apologize. I will work on it today and write up a separate post for our voting.
