Grace Thanks for the email. These swaps are so much fun because we get to know each other a bit. I'm going to have to look over patterns & fabric to make you something for you in your new WA home!

Gosh, Susan, if you're done I think you should go ahead and mail it (she says in her most innocent, eyelash-batting voice).
OH wait, I'm your partner.......maybe I shouldn't have said that!! :)
Hehehehehe!! Kathy (who won't even be able to think about starting your apron until probably after May 1.
So, let me vent quickly about my April. I'm a CPA, so from the 1st to the 17th this year I'm working 10-14 hour days. The 20th & 21st DH and I are going away for a little R & R. The 22nd I get to spend some quality "bathroom time" because the 23rd I get to have a colonoscopy!! Then the 27th through 29th I'm taking a spinning/knitting class at Conner Prairie in Indianapolis. and that pretty much brings me to the end of the month! Add to this my regular job and a few evening meetings, and you end up with a FULL month! So, no apron planning or sewing until May for me!

Oh I am not finished!!! NO...in fact I have been a very sick puppy for a week now so I havent done squat...no aprons, no soap, no anything! If I ever say "oh, I dont get THAT" referring to anything other than prostate problems or jock itch please, please someone kick my behind!
I have bronchitis and the most stuffed up head! I quite literally spent 20 out of 24 hours for the past 4 days IN THE BED! Not only am I stir crazy, I still dont feel great and my list of to do's is growing like crazy.
I can tell you though, I have thoroughly enjoyed my husband's cooking for the past week. First of all he is a terrific chef, and his chicken soup is famous around these parts. So we have had Tandoori Pork, with fresh greens out of the garden, his famous chicken soup with homemade focaccia with fresh herbs, last night he made homemade pizza with anchovies (my favorite!) and I hear we are having a brisket tonight. He is home till the end of the month when he leaves for Tunisia - that's when I will be sewing and such. Trying not to lose my mind over his absence. We have always spent a lot of time apart with his work, but not long periods. I hate I have been sick for one of the precious weeks he is home but it sure has been nice being taken care of.
I just meant when I finally get started, it wont take me long to make the apron, so...I was just wondering if we all mailed at the same time or as we finished. I will send yours along as soon as it is done!

Oh Susan, I'm so sorry to hear you're sick! Especially like you said, when your husband is home. How long will he be gone? Mine has been delivering RVs, so he's gone for 4 or 5 days, then home for 2 or 3. I know that time when he is home is time I want to be A-OK, not down sick!
It sounds like your husband is one awesome cook though! Mine makes burgers, steaks, meat loaf, and roast. Pretty much any meat you can salt & grill or throw in the oven. If I ever ask about a salad or vegetable, he says he doesn't need that. A real meat & potatoes man (without the potatoes).
I was just teasing about sending the apron--I'm not in a hurry--you take care of yourself and enjoy your time with your husband!

My husband works for a drilling company and his rig is being sent to the Mediterranean Sea. So this first trip he will be gone 3-5 weeks. And then for the next few years - who knows how long? - he will be home 26-28 days...gone 30 or so. He has always worked 2 weeks gone and two weeks home. So this will be an adjustment.
He is an amazing cook. He does grill some but, he loves gourmet type cooking too...LOTS of ingredients and LOTS of veggies. We have a garden almost year round so we eat what we grow in the way of veggies. We eat green salad pretty much every day.
While he is in Tunisia, they will have local cooks - I think everyone was apprehensive but him! They got a copy of the menu and he's like YEAH couscous!!! And we love lamb and that was on the menu as well. So he is interested in trying new foods made by people who are familiar with the cuisine. I am sure he will bring ideas home. He can be quite inventive as I have so many food allergies and some of them can be life threatening. NO soy of any sort, really no legumes. So we have learned to use spices and such that we might never have tried.
He rarely does dessert. But is an amazing bread baker. He makes the best French baguettes I have ever tasted. I dont know why his are different but they are just so good. He isnt lazy like me - I use the Kitchenaid to knead my bread...he's a hands on baker guy.

Bonnie, You are most welcome. I am glad you liked your package. I had fun making it. Half the fun is in the learning and I'm sure you sew better than I do. That was only my second full apron I've made. I am surprised you received those things so quickly. It's hard to tell with our post office how fast things will move through the mail.

Denise, I mailed your package today! It was the first full-sized apron I have made. Let's just say I hope you are as least as tall as me (5'6"), because it's a little big!!! LOL
