I made a few of these little package hangers to attach to the gift baskets for my 2 elderly neighbors…
Repurposed bits from an old tattered crochet table cloth and the flower part from bits-n-pieces of scrap wool.

Hi everyone and Merry Christmas...
We have been working on different rooms in our farmhouse. The last one completed was the kitchen. We are now fixing up the guest bath. Hubby painted the walls with sleeping beauty turquoise. He also found this old dresser at the Goodwill. I am using chalk paint in white with a grunge gray accent wax. So far I have the first two coats and I am ready for waxing.
I was terrified to use chalk paint but actually found it very easy and fun to use. The theme of the guest bath is anything and everything mermaid. I will take more pics as it comes together.

Hi Grace
Yeah cold weather is affecting us too. Hubby warms up the work shop so I could paint but today it is rainy and in the 40s. I need at least 55 for waxing. SOOOO....

We are going to move the big piece into the bath and I will need to wax in place. Hubby wants it out of his shop ASAP.

Grace, your pillow and package hangers are adorable!

Marie, your cardinal turned out so cute.

Nancy, I can't wait to see your finished bathroom. I have only used chalk paint on some mason jars for my table centerpiece. It was fun to use though.

I finished this hat over the weekend. I will be giving this hat to my sons speech teacher who has been amazing. It was a bit of work and difficult because it's in black yarn. Black is her favorite color. I plan to make another after the holidays in a lighter color. It will make the design easier to see.

Love the package hangers, Grace.

Great hat, Krista.

I've been working on a few quick Christmas presents for friends. Also want to make a couple flannel scarves with a new pattern I found after seeing one of the scarves in a store on Mackinac Island- they look easy and I hope they are. I'd like to make me one and 2 more for gifts before Christmas - wish me luck. LOL!

I hope to get several things done later this week and after Christmas. My husband is off to Florida on Thursday - probably for around 10 days - and the alone time will mean I can sew sew sew and get some projects done. My quilt guild is doing a fabric swap and I have a quilt top to make before Feb 11 with the 1-1/2 yards of fabric I was given to use. Everyone participating brought 1-1/2 tards of fabric in and one person distributed all the fabric pieces to someone else. The rules are to take that fabric, add some of your own, and make a quilt top at least 50" x 60". We could give suggestions on what colors we did and did not want used, but otherwise we are on our own to come up with a pattern. I found a pattern and had to buy a few coordinating fabrics, but I'm ready to cut the fabric so I can get started making the 12 blocks. PLUS I have to finish a baby quilt for my new grandson, Dawson, who is due Feb 11 (or possibly sooner). The shower is January 14th. It is made with Dallas Mavericks fabrics - his father is Ticket manager for the Mavericks.

To explain my husband's leaving right before Christmas, Ed is riding to Florida with his son who is here visiting, and will stay with him while he is there. Ed's sister is having surgery on Dec 27 and Ed feels he should be there. For one thing, she said she wants to make him her Medical POA. It will be sad that he isn't here for our anniversary or Christmas, but good that he will be there for her surgery.

Our around the corner neighbors and friends, had a home fire in the wee hours. Sadly their chicken coop caught fire and it was next to the garage,,, totally engulfed the coop and garage… the fire had just spread to the house when the fire department showed up… it was that fast!!
They list their chickens to the fire but are grateful they got the fire out before it could destroy their house.

Anyway, I did some quick sewing and am putting together a basket with tea cups, Tea, a tea cloth topper a yo-yo tree ornament and fresh baked Scones..
Heading over as soon as I pull the Scones out of the oven.

I machine stitched tea cups and pots in each corner..
Hope the tea and scones will warm their hearts..
Btw, the chickens apparently pecked at the electric cable and it shorted out, causing the fire… or so they are guessing …

That is so nice of you, Grace. Thankfully their house was not destroyed. It is amazing how fast a fire can spread.

Frusta, I love the hat…I don’t think I’ll ever be able to crochet anything I could give away. I’m just not that good.

Grace, I’m so sorry to hear about your neighbors. I’m sure they will appreciate your gift.

Nancy.. lol! it would cost a bloody fortune to heat up the barn to do projects,, so we are fair weather wood workers.. lol!

Linda,, that is so sweet of Ed to be there for his sister..

Marie,, sadly the fire consumed the chickens....
Our neighbors had a heater thingy as well as a water warmer thing in the coop to keep the chickens warm.... so the chickens could have been pecking at the wires...
Our neighbors are so grateful to both the little fire department in the town of Airway Heights as well a responding fire unit from the Air Forse base that showed up. Mind you a lot of our fire fighters are volunteers,, and the fire broke out just before 3:00 am..

Which reminds me,, be mindful of candles.. a lot of fires are started due to unattended candles..

Be safe this Holiday season.

Definitely be mindful of candles - my brother had a house that burned down because of a candle. Well, they were livng in a half-redecorated batn but it was their abode at the time.
