Sarah (MustangSuzie), I probably know this and have forgotten, but where in Missouri are you? I noticed you said you live close enough to Trinity Ranch to drive over there. I'm south (and a little west, maybe) of St. Louis and wondered if we're at all close.

I think I'm going to call Trinity and see if a person would be welcome to visit sometime. I think it would be really interesting to see his operation in person!

I live 100 miles north of St Louis near Hannibal. I'm glad to hear there was a nice article about Trinity Ranch. It just concerns me not to have gotten any kind of confirmation when I buy something online. I've also sent them 2 emails with no replies. I was wondering if they were even still in business. Let me know if you call them and they answer! lol
I'm hoping it all works out.

Blessings....

Sarah, Now that you said where you are, I remember! We're in opposite directions (darn). I have a phone number for Trinity Ranch, if it isn't posted on the webpage. It's provided at the end of the article, so if you need it let me know and I'll email it to you.

Karen, I got my worms and bin from Happy D Ranch and was very happy with everything I got. It all arrived here very quickly too. I would recommend them highly. Cindy

That's the site that I liked earlier in this topic. Thanks for bringing it back! I thought they looked pretty good. I'm glad to hear first hand that they are!

I had to fill you all in on my new hobby! I'm surprised at just how fasinating worms can be!

Well, the worms seem to be happy in their new home and are eating up a storm. I can really see the progress that they are making eating all that I have thrown in there. They seem less thrilled with green beans than I had hoped but all else is going! I can now see the castings in the bin, and have fun checking on how things are going. It's fun to show them off too, not everyone is as excited about the worms as I am! Oh well! Cindy

Most people show home videos or scrapbooks, but Cindy shows visitors her worms!

(Sorry, Cindy, I just couldn't help myself)

I hope I have some worms to show off soon.

MustangSuzie, did you get your order from Trinity yet?

Rachel, not only have I read every post, but after I told my dh about this thread he read every post, too. He wanted to do this a few years ago but we didn't, so he's really excited.

THAT is really cool to know! Thanks, guys! I think you'll like it. It's WAY easier and more instantgratification than composting.

LOL Cindy. Good news girls, I just spoke with the man at Trinity Ranch and he seemed like a real nice man. He said he's been waiting for the bin to ship (gets them from somewhere) and that he would call them today and tell them to get on the stick. He said to let him know when the bin got here and he would ship the worms out. I was wondering how they would do that since I ordered them both at the same time. So it looks like I'm going to be in the worm business after all! Yea!!! lol

Blessings....

Sarah, I pleased that you are on your way! They sent my bin out first and the worms arrived a few days later. That way you can get them all set up before they get there. Let us know what's goin' on with everything! Cindy

I talked to the guy a couple weeks ago, but I still have not rec'd my bin or worms. I'm getting aggravated and am about ready to call him back and cancel my order.

Blessings....

Rachel, I bought my bin at a garedn sale a few weeks ago. I have it outside (kitchen too small) and ants have invaded. I read the Wriggly Ranch Bin book and they suggest using dolomite and/or smearing the legs with Vaseline and setting them on containers of water. Have you ever had this problem? What would you advise? I wish I had the space indoors, butr I'm sure I'd attract the ants inside too. Is there really any "danger" haveing the ants in there? Will they nest in the castings? Are they too much competition for the worms???
I'll appreciate any help you can offer.

I would use borax around the outside of your bin, and I would set the legs in tuna cans with water in them. I think that ants will feed on worm's egg sacks. I would also cut down on your feeding. Ants are usually a sign that your worms aren't eating fast enough to keep the food from sending out odors that attract pests.
