Had an extra 20 minutes this afternoon...
It's a t-shirt cotton that I thrifted this week and a remnant of some previously thrifted fabric of unknown materials. I love how they go without going, you know? It used French seams and then topstitched for sturdiness. I left the hem raw because it really works with the skirt. The waist has a draw string (my favorite for patchy skirts.)

Where do you get your pattern from? I would love to get something like this to make. Your skirt is beautiful. |

SO cute. I wish I could work sewing machine magic like you do. I figure, I'll stick to my knitting needles since my sewing machine attempts never turn out like they're supposed to! I admire your sewing confidence!

Love your skirt Tasha! You do work magic with your sewing machine. My girls love their twirly skirts too! I browsed through your blogs. Your photo of you at 27 is stunning. You are so young and beautiful and your skin is perfect and glowing! I loved looking through your window at the snow up there! Do you have much snow on the ground?

Is the top a drawstring type of thingy? Could you give me some pointers, I have never sewn before. I thought this would be a easy project to start me off with. |

Love it, Tasha - new skirts are on my list of to-dos - the ever-growing list that never seems to shrink! It's so much fun, creating something out of next to nothing, isn't it? Gives me a great feeling of satisfaction - plus helping the environment by recycling clothing rather than buying something new. I bought a lovely dress for $2, which I wore for Christmas Day, after a little tweaking here and there, and everyone loved it. How do you do the drawstring waist - with cording? Best wishes, Jayne |

Okay lots to respond to
first, thank you thank you for your loverly comments. I wore the skirt for only a little while yesterday, but plan to wear it again today.
The drawstring is just simple white cording. Sometimes I use thick hemp twine and some beads. It is A-line cut, which, catscharm, is very simple. you just cut an A more or less in the fabric depending on the spin you want of the skirt. The spin is how big around the bottom of your skirt is. Just make sure you arecuting enough to be too big when you don't have it drawn into your waist, if you are doing a draw string that is. It is very easy. I used French seams because I prefer them over my serger. I think they look cleaner. I don't like my serger. I am thinking of selling it.
Megan, I dooooo sell them, but they sell better inthe Summer among the hippie crowd. I have quite a few things that are already made and I am working at building up my stock for the Summer. I sold quite a bit last Summer and did a lot of custom stuff as well.
Karin, I can't believe I didn't have socks on. I usually do. My feet must have had a really hot spell at the moment!

Do you mix the vinegar and baking soda or apply them separately? |
