It's Jan and the Farm is already a buzz about our 2016 Jubilee. For you FarmGirls that weren't here for the first one here's your chance to be a part of this year's from the very start.

Half of the fun of the Jubilee is in the planning so join in with your thoughts and ideas. I like being in on the 'ground floor' so to speak and I think you will too.

I'll be looking for you on the FarmGirl Jubilee Annual Celebration forum. Read up on what went on last year and keep up with what's 'afoot' for 2016 Jubilee.

Thanks Sara for posting this message about our upcoming 2016 Jubilee!! We had a wonderful time last year celebrating together and sharing our individual plans for marking the weekend. There were aprons and banners and flags and more!!

Yes, Farmgirls who are new, you are definitely going to enjoy all of the fun and planning together. Sara, do you already have an idea or two in your head for what you wish to do?

Welcome everyone and mark the first weekend on May. Since May begins on a Sunday this year, we will get clarification from the Home office if the official Jubilee weekend will be May 7&8 which also happens to be Mother's Day weekend. I think it would be fun to add the Jubilee to the mix as well!!

Winnie, I have my clothes pin apron, garden flag, and mini-garden to build on. Last year I planted winter & summer savory because they were the Herb of the Year. Hopefully my next issue of Herb Quarterly magazine will have the 2016 Herb of the Year and if it will survive our Texas heat I will plant it.

Thinking about making another apron to fly on front porch along with the one that I will again hang by front door with sunbonnet. It'll be fun to add a new apron every year.

Maybe someone will come up with a easy-to-do Jubilee wreath I can copy. I remember someone made a really neat Jubilee banner for their chicken coop - may try my hand at making one.

My Jubilee to-do list could get long this year.

Didn't do to much last year. A few things to participate. This year our wedding anniversary falls on Mother's Day so I am not sure I will be around except for in the spirit of the jubilee. Looking forward to see what ideas everyone has for this year!

According to the MJF calendar, there is a new moon on May 6, MaryJane's Farmgirl Jubilee is listed on the 7th, along with National Scrapbooking Day, and Mothers' Day and No Socks Day on the 8th. The weekend of May 7 and 8 it is!! I'm already thinking of thematic tie-ins:)

Like flying crazy socks on the 8th. It might be fun to decorate the white tube socks to make them a little more Farm-Girly.

Whoop!! It is official for another fabulous Jubilee celebration here at our beloved"Farm"!! May 6 is also National Nurses Day for all of us Farmgirl Nurses both active and retired. Hehehe, all the fun celebrations are packed into one this 3 day spread. This year, I will be a "Farmgirl on the Loose" and be in Vienna, Austria for our Jubilee weekend. I will have to pack my apron to wear for sure!!

Winnie, Vienna is famous for it's glass maybe you can find a glass egg to put in your egg gathering apron. We'll miss you here on the farm but I am so happy you will be seeing and experiencing new sights.

Thank you, Mary Jane, for your ideas! As you know, I'm an "apronista" and can REALLY GO with the apron theme! I even have the "Apronista" necklace I purchased from your store in Coeur d'Alene! (Would ALWAYS where it wherever I was set up selling aprons!

How about Farmgirl/Sisterhood-type words for the acronym A.P.R.O.N.?

Anyone have some ideas?

I'm curious - what does the Apronista necklace look like? Can you please post a picture?

I think it would be great if we made one of our goals (optional, of course) to make (or buy if one can't make one) an apron to gift to a friend/neighbor. Perhaps added to some homemade bread, cookies, jam/jelly, etc. That gift would be delivered during our May Jubilee dates.
I think that will be one of MY goals!

I like the ideas so far for the A.P.R.O.N acronym! I'll put my thinking cap on and see what comes up too.

Sara, we will be visiting many cities in Germany prior to Vienna so I will definitely look for a glass or perhaps wooden egg for my apron. I am really hoping to get tickets to see the Lippizaner Horses perform. I've seen them here in the US, but I have always wanted to see them in their home country. We'll see if that is possible.

CeeJay, I love your idea of the apron gift to a friend/neighbor for the Jubilee weekend. I know we talked about that last year but I don't remember if anyone was able to do it. I think it is a sweet idea!

Here's the "Apronista" necklace. It is made like the Sisterhood pendant, etc. It is about one inch square. There are many other with different words. My daughter bought the one that says "Laugh". I put these necklaces on ribbon so they don't weigh on my neck so heavily!

I like the idea of gifting an apron to a neighbor. I did that for the Jubilee badge last year I think, too.

I like Shannon's apron phrase too.

Great ideas girls! I had a good laugh when I gifted a young mom with an apron and bread. She doesn't know what an apron is for. I was dumbfounded.

Bonnie,
I've sold hundreds and hundreds of aprons at our local farmers market and Christmas/craft bazaars up until about 2 years ago. There were many women who would stop by our booth, especially at farmers market and tell me "Nobody wears aprons any more". My reply was, "well, I've sold hundreds of them and usually 20-25 per week . . . so somebody is wearing them!" That took care of that!

LOL! CJ - My mom said the same thing to me once, and then she saw your beautiful aprons, and how wonderful they make us look and feel in the kitchen! ;)

I think the best way to get the most out of 2016 Jubilee is to plant a few farmgirl "seeds" while surrounding yourself with friends over a cup of tea... ;)

I can't wait!

I make all kinds of aprons - and have patterns for lots more I haven't made yet. I like making the recycled denim-topped half aprons with colorful "skirts" on them. And, when I can find them, I like using the denim coveralls to make a bibbed denim apron.

Who do you do your apron programs for? Women's groups? Sounds like an interesting program idea.
