I used my "violet" kind of successfully to make three shades by pressure and coverage to have darker, medium and lighter shades. BUT, I need other purples/lavendars.

And, YES, let's keep this thread going with what we're all up to as Peggy suggests. Supplies we find, pics of pages we color, tips and thoughts. It could really be an encouragement to most of us I think.

Thanks girls!

The first picture is a Color Page I did out of Johanna Brasford's Coloring Book called "Enchanted Forest"

The second picture is the very fine tip markers I bought at BnN.

The third picture is Daphne's Diary Coloring Book.

For those of you who do not have a Barnes and Noble near you. You can order from their website on-line.
Also Amazon carries a lot of The Great Coloring Books and Art Supplies.

Hope this helps some of you.

happy coloring,
Peggy

Peggy,
Do any of the markers bleed through the paper?
Thanks!

Fantastic!
I have seen the books at our local book store but, they just looked so intimidating. My cousin told me about them. She and her daughter (who's in her last year of college) get together with these coloring books, markers and a pizza on Saturday nights. I have been a fan of coloring as long as I can remember and have managed to pass that on to my oldest daughter who loves to color everything.
These adult books are beautiful. I am a true stickler for tradition and "old school" (I still have my Holly Hobbie coloring book from when I was a youngster.) but, I am thinking we may need to give these new fangled coloring books a try. :0)

Cj...yes, some of the colors do bleed through slightly especially when using the Micro-line pens, the Water-Color
brush markers, and the gel-pens. Really the only colors that don't bleed through are the colored pencils. Make sure
to leave your book open for a couple hours after you complete your session of coloring...so the color doesn't bleed
on both sides (like bleeding onto the back of the previous page). I also use light cardboard or heavy card stock paper
underneath the picture I'm coloring so it doesn't bleed onto the next picture also.

Vanessa...I love the Art Nouveau Style too.

Kerry...you really should try some of the New Styles and new pens, markers and pencils. They make it so much more
fun than just crayons. You really feel like an Artist when you start using different pencils and pens on each page.

I help Barnes and Noble with their sales when I sit in the Coffee Shop and have a soothing beverage and sit there
and color. People come up and start asking me questions and asking where I got this or that...and so I will walk them
over to the Product and show them right where they are. And they get so excited and are so appreciative...and they
go up to the Check-Out Registers all Happy...with their hands full of merchandise. I guess it comes from my years of
Managing Books Stores and loving to help people find what they want. LOL

Don't Forget that It is Always OK to color outside the lines once in awhile,
Peggy

All but one of my pencils are Crayola brand, with the one being Rose Art brand. Not the same quality!
I like the Crayola brand better. That's also the way I feel about regular crayons!

I found these in my project desk drawer. Only have the four, but I was able to use the green and pink on my current page. Using the fine point, not the "dot" point. These are great for making nice round dots on things. They are Zig"Dotta-Riffic". Don't remember when or where I got them. The fine points look like a tiny brush. Did not bleed through!

I plan on buying one of these coloring books for my adult daughter, Chelsey. She's very artistic so I believe she would really enjoy these coloring books.

Here are the two coloring books I got - so far. LOL! Not to find colored pencils, crayons, and markers. Does anyone have/use the crayons and colored pencils that you can turn up as you use them? I think I am going to love the Campers one. LOL!

And at my WalMart, and it isn't huge, they had about 8 different books.

Vanessa...have you used the water colored pencils with brushes? To make them look like water color or
have you just done them Dry? They can be used both ways. Your daughter left you some great pencils.

Linda...10 year old Marvy Markers and they aren't all dried up???? Wow Girlfriend that is a great set of
markers. That is a product name to remember!!! I have seen that Glamper Coloring Book too...really cute.

Cj...that is one thing you will find with the different Art Pencils you use...you will discover your favorites.
One of the Sets I bought at BnN...the pencils are a good variety of colors but not my favorite of all my pencils
BUT they came with a colored pencil sharpener and colored pencil eraser. Those last two things were worth the price
of the entire 16.99 Pencil set. You will find some pencil sharpeners eat away your Pencils. Plus I never even knew
you could erase colored pencil marks...did you?

I love your first picture!!! And Linda is right...you are the Artist...your clouds can be pink if you want them to.
Some books will give you examples of how to paint your pictures...I never use those. If you do you might as well
use Color by Number. LOL!! We are the Adults we can decide to do what ever we want and YES that makes the color page
your Master Piece. You and I would probably never pick the same colors to color the exact same page...and that is
how it should be. I took a couple of my books to Spokane and my mom had the same ones...and we compared pages and we
both colored them so differently that it was soooooooooooooo fun to compare our choices.

It is a really rainy, gray day here and I am going to pull out my coloring books in a minute and enjoy some quiet time.
Hubby is at BnN and I just didn't feel like getting out of my PJ's today. Bad Fibro Day...Good Coloring Day!

Big Hugs,
Peggy

I had used the Marvy markers for rubber stamping when I was doing that. I bought a lot of things I used a few times for stamping then didn't use them again. I still have some stamps and stamp pads, but not as much into that. LOL! They do bleed through a bit, though. I use cardboard under the page to be sure I don't bleed to another page.

Yes, I too became interested in this after seeing the topic on television about adult coloring groups. I am not an artist but always liked to paint and color so it fits my needs already having a lovely picture to fill in. And yes, I was one to always try to stay within the lines. So this is a perfect outlet for my level of art and it is very relaxing much like crocheting, knitting, beading or quilting. Here are a couple of my completed pages. I am enjoying two coloring books: The Calm Coloring Book: Beautiful Images to Soothe Your Cares Away by Chartwell Books and Nature's Gifts: A Collection of Complex Mandalas for Adults to Color by Cynthia Emerlye. Have fun sisters. Annie

Beautiful work, Annie.

I've started on my first picture, but the 10-year-old Marvy markers I have been using are old, and some work well and others are very dried out. My picture is NOT a work of art, but I'm having fun coloring it, anyway. LOL!
