Krista the booties are great!! I want to eventually learn to knit socks..I don't love knitting though.

Congrats on everyone who got new badges. I'm still playing catch up on life....but at least we are all well finally.

Sabrina - it took me years of practice before I fell in love with knitting. I think learning how to fix mistakes so I didn't have to rip everything out was the turning point. But I know it's not everyone's cup of tea.

I did complete a dishcloth for my crochet badge and plan on teaching someone a few basic stitches. I have a few friends who have asked for knitting and crochet help, so I'm looking forward to that. I'll be able to apply for my let's get physical badge soon. I had to modify it slightly due to some back pain, but I've made sure to add activity every day, even if it's just walking!

How's everyone else coming along on their badges?

When earning the merit badges- do you complete all the tasks under the category?

Yes, it's easy-peasy Angie. Complete all the tasks under each category to earn your badge. There are usually beginning, intermediate, and expert levels for each. I have yet to earn one myself, so I'm sure the other "badgers" can give you better advice

Angie,
As Kristi says, yes, you complete all the tasks under each category/level. The exception to that would be is IF the description gives the option of one OR the other task. If you have specific questions about a particular task or level I encourage you to send an email to Brian at the farm . . . he's the "badge expert", he is very helpful!
Brian's email is:
brianogel@maryjanesfarm.org

Hope that helps!

Thank you farmgirls! YOU ALL are an inspiration to me! I decided when the new badges came out for 2016 I would make it my goal to reach my 300th for spring! Goal met! However, I'm going to be still working on some others!
Thanks again!

Still thinking about what I can start with for Beginner Her-Story.

I photo copied my Henrietta badge, because I want my badges made from the same fabric. I took a ruler and marked the different levels on it, and plan to use it as the main template. I like things to be nice and even, maybe I was a bee in another life? I mean haven't you seen how even their honeycomb is? :P

Pixiedustdevil - That looks great, what a great idea!

Krista - Congratulations on your intermediate crochet badge, can't wait to see what you start working on for the advanced badge!

I'm still in packing and moving mode, so merit badges are on hold. But, I only have 20 more days left in Chicago!

I have a question, mainly about the Sharpshooter badge: The badge requires 200 merit badges to qualify for it. But there are not 200 different merit badges! So does that mean that each level counts as a badge in its self? Example: if you have completed the beginner, intermediate, and expert levels of the origami badge, then you would count it as 3 badges?

I'm far from trying to get the Sharpshooter badge, but I'm still courious on how this works.

Each level counts as a "badge" I asked Brian at one point and that is what he said :)

I'm lurking, haven't had time to work on badges. Wrapping up stuff for "end of the year" and planning VBS. Hopefully I'll get some down time sometime this summer!

Cyris,
As Sabrina says, yes, each level counts as a badge. Earning all three levels for one, such as Breadmaking, etc. would be a total of 3 badges.
Wishing you the best!

200 merit badges seems like so many. On the bright side I am only 198 away!! The badges are so much fun that I'll be there before I know it!
