Krista, 200 badges is a lot . . . 300 even more. I've been working on my badges since joining the sisterhood seven years ago.
Just take them as you can and enjoy the "ride"!
I'll never earn ALL of them because some things I don't/can't do and probably won't be able to. CJ

I'm really excited to start working on some badges. In the next couple months I have a vacation and my best friend's wedding, so I'm starting with some of the easier ones (for me) that I've already made progress on:
1. Going Green: This might be difficult but will be worth it. I myself buy only organic cleaners and clean a large percentage of my house with water and Norwex cloths, but I'm living in my dad's house and he left a lot of old cleaners when he moved. We're on a septic/well so I don't want to dump them down the drain, and I can't in good conscience just send bags of harmful chemicals to our closest landfill... so I am hoping this task will inspire me to round up all those things and finally figure out a solution.
2. Homespun Christmas: I've already started on my gifts, because it's May so obviously I need to get working on them, haha! Last year I made our stockings and a garland of crocheted stars for the mantle, and I think it'd be nice to have some more homemade items on our tree in addition to our nostalgic ones. I figure it will be an easy plane craft if I take some yarn to crochet some ornaments.
3. UFOs: My craft room would horrify you. I need to do this so badly!

Pixiedustdevil, your origami badge is really pretty! I can't wait to see more of your badges!
CJ, I agree! It's all about the enjoyment. It's so fun learning new things, but I know that I won't be able to have all badges either.
Rachel, those sound like some great badges to start with! I love using my Norwex cloths too. They are amazing on my glass items and I love not using any chemicals. I hope you can figure out what to do with the leftover cleaners. I would love to see your crochet stars garland. I have been learning to crochet and that sounds like something fun to make.

Just wanted to see if anyone knows how long it takes to know if you earned your badge? I have submitted several but have not heard. I love looking at the awesome things that everyone is doing to earn the badges. Keep sharing!
Thanks-Angie

Angie, The time it takes for badge approval varies and sometimes it can be up to two weeks or so. If you submitted more than two weeks ago I suggest you send Brian and email and ask him about them. If possible it would be good to provide him the info on which badge and level and the day you submitted it. If it's only be 2-3 days, I'd give it a bit more time. Brian's email is: brianogle@maryjanesfarm.org CJ Hope that helps! CJ

OK, but you have to promise not to judge the contents of my mantle! My boyfriend likes to decorate it with the models he puts together. I took this when I was still working out the distance between them, and before I had the rest of my decorations up. Once they were properly hung and had the stockings up as well, it was much more Christmassy! The stars are basically modified granny squares, I used the instructions on this page: http://jellywares.blogspot.com.au/2012/11/jelly-xmas-star-tutorial-revisited.html

I've been waiting for my Bread 1 and Disconnect to Reconnect 1 badges for awhile now. What I do is I copy and paste my written stuff into a folder, and save it. Then I write down which badge I applied for, including the start and finish dates. That way incase my application is lost, I don't have to re-type it or try and remember the dates.
C.J.: I thought the origami badge was a little bit plain, and most origami paper is patterned, so I added a simple starburst. I'm also adding the names of the badge on the badge itself. That way I'll remember what the badge is called. I write the name in tiny cursive and embroider it with 1 strand of floss, 2 strands makes it too chunky.
Too bad none of you leave near me, I would have done everything I could to help you get your badges.
I would like to see anybody's finished badges!

Rachelbee: I like those stars! They would make good ornaments too. Knitting, crocheting, and tatting are the only things I can't do.

Rachel, you are funny! I would never judge you by what's on your mantle! I think it looks very nice! I really like the garland and now I want to make some. I am thinking of few places that could use those as decorations. Thank you for sharing the instructions. I'll add that to my large list of things I want to make!!
I like the idea of putting the badge name on the badge. Good idea.

Time to add a 2nd outline.
I don't know about you guys, but once I put in for a badge, I check my email a thousand times a day! (Ok, I exaggerate).

I've been doing the same thing! I don't think I've gone 30 minutes in the last two days without checking my email

Exactly!
By the way; does anyone have the 'Greatest Generation' badge done? I'm not sure how to color mine. Any pictures would be appreciated.

Here is my "Greatest Generation" badge. I chose simple colors, thinking of pioneer women! I sewed a tiny heart button at the center of the collar. The three heart buttons are for the three different levels. That is how I have done all of my badges for the different levels . . . by sewing buttons on that same area of the badge. Just my way of doing it
Cyrie, don't forget that how you color your badge is entirely personal choice! Just sharing mine! And, I'm not fond of doing faces so they don't usually come out too good . . . CJ

These are my most recent badges. I haven't decided on a final way to display them yet, but thought I could do this for a few. I tied grosgrain ribbon along the bottom of shelf on my baker's rack and just used mini-clothespins to clip them on. I can move them around, change them out and display different ones. As you can see my baker's rack is a display for kinds of stuff, much of it antique and some things from our farm. Probably too many treasures . . . CJ
