My plan at this point is to have all contributed recipes received by the end of September. I will then begin the final juggling and set up to ready everything to be printed. My ultimate goal is to have the cookbook in everyone's mailbox by December 1 so those that wanted Christmas gifts will have them in plenty of time. <gulp>
As soon as I can, I will post the cost of having the cookbook printed and mailed, and will post my mailing address to receive orders. I will print the number of cookbooks for orders I receive and will personally pay for an extra five or so (depending on price!!), so that if someone is away or misses ordering one there will be an extra. I don't want anyone disappointed. Everyone will be able to order as many copies as they wish. Obviously the cost of postage will be dependent on the number of books mailed to you, but Canadian postage is comparatively cheap.
Okay, I think that's all for now. Off to include today's received recipes. Thanks gals!
Diane

Haven't seen anything posted here for a few days, only TWO DAYS left till the deadline, does everyone have their recipes turned in? Diane, I just emailed 2 more, hope they are coming in fast enough so that we have a good-sized cookbook!

As I told Ann (PhilsAnn), I am quitting the cookbook idea and just going to live with her! Ann has kindly done alot of typing and submitted many very good recipes. She has made a significant contribution to our cookbook (including the one for Pumpkin Biscuits that I stole off the forum!).

As of tonite, this is where we are at:

Appetizers & Starters - 10 recipes
Beans & Grains - 9 "
Breads & Muffins 9 "
Cakes & Pies - 10 "
Desserts, Cookies & Candy - 11 "
Eggs & Cheese - 3 "
Holiday Favorites - 4 "
Main Courses & Meats - 17 "
Preserves & Canning - 6 "
Sauces, Marinades & Dressings - 7 "
Soups - 7 "
Vegetables & Salads - 12 "
Miscellaneous - 2 "

We need more! There are a few categories lacking, but we can always put more in the others as well. Dig out the recipe boxes ladies and lets make our cookbook really worthwhile.

Whew, I think I am done sending recipes as well. I have more if you need them, but I am getting too punchy to type them in tonight.

Do we get a grace period of October 1st on the deadline, since it is a weekend? LOL

Happy cooking, everyone!

Jo

All your recipes are received and are great. So sorry for not letting you know sooner, I've been trying to email each of you as I enter your recipes and am slowly working down the list.
Being that this is the weekend and everyone is busy, we can extend the date until Monday if that works for some of you. Anything that gets more recipes into our book is a good thing!

Oh, awesome! Now, is anybody out there yelling at me for creating more time to make more work for all of us? If so, sorry!

I'll get a few more typed up and sent in today.

Question, if we have a recipe from another farmgirl that we want to include in the cookbook (giving her the credits, of course) would that be appropriate? For instance, I have teh Lemon Balm Tincture recipe from Kathy of the Enchanted Wood that I would love to include if there is an herbal section. And I have some others that I've pulled from the forum and tried out and loved, so is there a way to incorporate these with appropriate credits to the original source of the recipe?

(OK, OK, now I really hear everybody yelling that I am making them think too much...)

Anyway, Happy October, everyone!

LOL Jo...I'll stand beside you and get yelled at too, as I think you've been reading my mind. I have seen some great recipes in the archives and am wondering if it's appropriate to include them in the cookbook...with credit of course. One that comes to mind is Aunt Jenny's pie filling method and recipe that has been requested more than once (including from me). Maybe I could go through some of them and email the submitters to get their permission.
All in all the cookbook is coming together nicely. We got a good influx of recipes this past couple of days (you should see my inbox!). I guess I should get my act together and include mine as well..haha.

Great idea Diane, as long as we get permission I don't think the farmgirls would mind at all? Can't wait to try Aunt Jenny pie filling, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY TOO AUNT JENNY!!!!

Diane, I think we might be related! LOL - but true factoid: I was born in New Westminster, B.C. and lived in Harbor Chines and Vancouver until we moved to the U.S. I still have two of my three sisters living in B.C. We may need to include you in my next sisters weekend!

Let me know if you need any help with the book; I am scattered 6 ways to Sunday, but aren't we all? If there are some little jobs I can do just let me know. I am a great proofreader and test chef.

BTW, I am going to send you Kathy's Lemon Balm Tincture, which I copied into Word to use myself (and I have made two batches for my own used and sharing with friends) so if she does not respond with permission, you can use my name on it, with a nod to it being from a fellow farmgirl.
