Up to 2 degrees this morning here in the western Chicago area! Nice to warm up at last. We've been dealing with that arctic blast for about 10 days now. It feels longer. We got a few more inches of snow yesterday and more predicted tonight. Beautiful, white, and frigidly cold. Looking forward to next weekend when we get up to the 20's. At least that is what they say it will be. Sure hope it does warm up!

Jana We went to Dog Beach on Christmas Day. It was 68 degrees and I was wearing shorts. It was low tide so we got to walk the whole length of the beach. Shylo loved it.

It is 15 degrees tonight with a clear sky. Yup, brown cows give chocolate ice cream, but sheep are nice & warm in their wool coats.

JojoNH that is exactly how we are feeling here in WV. It's been so cold that anything above 10 is a heat wave. Wow how our standards change so quickly.

Nancy, what are those patches of white in your photo?
Weather here is dreary and cold, but not as cold as some. I'm thinking of driving to Wenatchee, WA to visit my sister this week and hope that the weather holds. Supposed to get into the 50's and that is unusual for this time of year. Last year at this time I was busy shoveling snow. The grass is green and the garden brown!

Today we had 35 and ice, then a couple of inches of snow. I think it all happened after hubby left for work, 6 A.M.. Pretty slick out there! I couldn't scrape thru it with shovel. Used salt to eat thru in places that needed to be clear to be safe(steps, walk, just below steps), like that! Might get up to 55 by Friday. Weird for N.E. Ohio in January! Enjoyed the Boyd's collection in the window! Ca-ute!

Hi Betty, they are reflections of the overhead lights in my office. If they were round they would look like an alien invasion, huh

Our warmup began on Sunday here west of Chicago. Unfortunately it started with freezing showers that took till yesterday's 35 to melt off the top of our snow. Today and tomorrow is going to be 50's. There is a price to pay for that fast of a warmup and it is fog & rain. Winter returns Friday, but we will have a clean slate by then. Really enjoyed our beautiful white Christmas, but the frigid arctic temps kept everyone indoors.
So glad we slipped away last week to southern CA. Seeing your pictures Nancy reminds me of our stay in beautiful Dana Point Harbor. I'm missing sitting on the docks at Coffee Imports having breakfast and watching the seals play.

60 degrees in northern Kentucky! It feels like spring! We will take the dogs for a lengthy walk this afternoon. They & my husband have cabin fever.

We are supposed to get record temps here in Goodrich, Texas! Tomorrow the low will be 19 degrees! Brrrrr! This southern girl is not used to this kind of weather! I will be keeping my tootsies under a warm cozy throw or in the kitchen over a warm stove and in front of a baking oven!!

We are getting more snow today, 1-3 inches. We did have better temps today... upper 20's. It's pretty to look out, but I feel for everyone who has to drive in it. Everyone be careful! I have to go clean sidewalks before hubby gets home from work.

What an icy-cold day! This morning was rainy and glazed everything with ice. We also had a bit of snow, but it didn't stay. Now the sun broke through a bit to highlight the frost on the trees. A stark, yet beautiful scene.

No shortage here in the Chicago area. We have about 7"s on the ground now and more predicted for the next few days. Beautiful, but a bit too cold to stay outside to play.

Here in East Texas the weather has been drizzly rain and cold weather. Yesterday it was 70 degrees!! Lots of dampness in the air today keeps me chilled but I have stayed indoors in my craft and sewing room working on projects!
