Posted - Dec 31 2011 : 12:09:04 PM It is in the low 70's here in SW Louisiana. It is raining, gloomy looking, foggy, and humid. I thought I would be able to work outside today. Oh well... I do plan to take a long walk; rain or not! Marly

Posted - Oct 11 2024 : 03:22:15 AM My daughter and family are fine. It was not as bad as was expected but they were prepared. The only damage was the cover from their ac unit was in the neighbors yard and the door blew off of an old shed they have. Everything else is fine. They live in a mobile home and I'm grateful they went to my niece. They couldn't have gotten out of state with the way traffic was there. Many were stuck on the roads. Power is out but hopefully that will be restored soon.

Posted - Oct 10 2024 : 10:46:11 AM I am situated in North Central Florida and we were lucky to be just far enough north to not be in the path of the eye because the storm came online below Tampa. We had only 3 inches of rain, few big wind gusts, and no tornadoes. We were all so thankful that we were not hit like Helene did to us. The hurricane left the state this morning and we are having a wonderful cooler day in its place. It is the first day since May sometime that it has not been hot and humid outside!

Posted - Oct 09 2024 : 03:12:22 AM My daughter is in Lakeland and that is not far outside the Tampa area. She and my nieces and their families will all be together at one of the niece's homes. I wish they would have evacuated but the have protections in place on their home home. Steel hurricane panels on doors and windows. Also it is a brick home. I'm praying it lessens. Not sure my daughter's new to her home will withstand the winds. Praying there won't be damage to it. We are praying for all of them. For everyone in its path. I've been in 3 hurricanes and one was in HI where there is no place to evacuate to but fortunately the palm trees are created to withstand those winds . The other w were in Florida. There were not more than category 2 though.

Posted - Oct 08 2024 : 04:32:24 AM Please pray for Florida and all our sisters in Hurricane Melvin’s path. After seeing the destruction in the NC mountains, this is so scary. They are reporting it will be a category 5, the worst Florida has seen in the Tampa Bay Area. I pray that everyone has followed evacuation orders.
