fRANNIE,
What a nice picture of your crafts you posted, came out really nice. I will be ordering something more from you very soon. Looks like you got a whole lot done this week. Yea miss the kids when they are not around, but can sure get a lot more done when they are not about.I know when all mine are around its best to stay up, if I sit down I just have to get up again right after I get started on something, so just cook or bake or play with the kids, easier that way.

thanks to everyone. the dg aprons will be 15.00with s/h.
i thought i would never get off the pincushions!(ouch), and still there are 2 more that i want to make and havent done yet. but i thought i need to move on.
next i want to make the blue ribbons, just a little fun thing. i like to wear mine on my aprons on those days when people treat me like i just sit home and eat bonbons all day.
but now sunshine has me interested in starting the winter hats and embellishing them with
needlepunch. i have always just made silk embroidery pins to wear on them.
i also want to explore some wooden bobbin crafts, to use for curtain pulls r just to use as individual coat hooks for hanging our aprons on........and thn theres the little stackable trays and the journals,.....welll, gotta go, my sewing machine is paging me.
i'm having a ball, thanks for all the inspiriation.

nancy jo and jenny, thanks for the wonderful cards (and payments!). we only get mail about 2-3 times a week so i got a great surprise this morning in the mail.
and thanks also, nancy jo for the surprise package, now i am trying to come up with some way to use all the prettys. i think you are contributing to the obsession of a crafter! so i want to call you the patron saint of crafters!
also nancy jo, thanks for the new order. i made the blue apron first cause i love blue, but wanted you to know there are 3 other options for this apron.

i have a red, yellow or pink crocheted piece left that i can put on the blue ticking apron, so you can have your pick. just let me know what suits you best.

well, i am a work in progress, and in believe i will always be a crafter and appreciate great art work. our friend sunshine is truly a fibre artist.
there is a method to my madness, it grew out of necessity, and having 4 kids whose adolescent stretched for 20 years.(my youngest turns 20 in jan. yippee)
there is no romance on the face of the earth that can break your heart like a rellious teenager. enough said.
so i took up crafting again i think in those years to ward off the anxiety of the teenage years.
i think i am a great mom for the under 12 age group, but when the hormones start raging my brain turns to mush. i really admire teachers who love working with the middle school crowd.
i do not have aclue.
i think my crafting style came from my dad's side of the family. they were crafters but very practical. i have a real disdain for our throwaway society. so that's why i love recycling and reusing items in a different way. it makes my brain happy and my heart as well.
i feel i have many kindred spirits here, and that has really been a Godsend. to many people, even my own kin, i am just from another planet.
that's okay, cause i think it is a good planet, and the folks there live by the credo "first, do no harm".
i am, as i said happy with my crafting, but i am probably a secret knitter and crocheter,
that's why i appreciate others talents and dont want all those old beautiful pieces to be forgotten. i do believe if i tried to knit there would be the world's largest knot in the middle of the farm....so i just admire others work and go on with my crafting.
to each his own,,,,and i'm glad for that!
thanks once again for all the encouragement and i will be making up a domestic goddess apron for you nancy jo this week. i am anxious to see how the red one turns out.

Read you loud and clear sunshine, and thanks again for the birthday wish! Hey, being scatterbrained is often fun, just maybe not for those around us! And I am truly sorry to learn of your health issues. I wish for all the health and happiness life can hold for us all because nothing is more valuable. When you write your first fiber instruction book, please autograph my copy!! Heck, I will even be your typist. Keep the inspiration coming! Nance

Please don't be sorry for my health issues I was born with them they are like someone having brown eyes or blue eyes. It is part of who I am.

Sure it would be nice to not have Von Willenbrands Disease but it is not contages unless I give birth to you genetic ( yes I think all my kids have it)

But other than that there are treatments and I live anormal life other than I get iron transfussions, bruise easily, and get bloody noses easily and things like that. Sure I have to wear mediacal alert stuff but I would rather have this than cancer or diabets (sp) people get so depressed with those things.

I would rather be happy in my skin than not. So I am good with it. hasn't stopped from doing the things I want even having kids ( which I wasn't supposed to do or have Just think about all that bleeding almost died 3 times but I love my kids and they where so worth the risk) so life is good.

No matter what God gives you or doesn't every thing is a blessing depending on how you look at it

hi sunshine,
i have been busy all week, but not so much crafting!
i had dental work on tuesday, with a surprise, and it set me back about 1 1/2 days, then i was stranded at the farm without a vehichle all week.
i am finishing up a package for gloria g nancy jo, and for jeri, by austin, but it put me behind not having a car to mail things out.
i spent more time this week outside cause it hasnt been so hot, and then i started to winterize the house, clean out the craft room and organize it.
i am trying to break away from the pincushions for a while and start on winter hats, journals, and stacking trays, but i keep gettin side tracked. (tooth pain, visits from kiss and kin, etc.)
i saw your silouhets(sp?) on your site and thought they were lovely. as soon as i have something new i will post it, but i've not been able to post pics on the blogspot? so i may have to move to another site.
hope all is well with you

Oh my goodness frannie! I keep checking this post to see what lovely, lovely new things you have made! I'm especially fond of the sewing accessories-my personal weakness! :) I make some similar things, but in a more primitive style. The wrist corsage pincushion and sunshine's pincushion are "to die for"! It just tickles me to hear you call these your "scrap" crafts! This is ART girlfriend! I too use vintage "bits" in my dolls and other creations. Friends think it's crazy how excited I can get over a box of musty old seam binding! :)
Sure wish all of us farmgirls weren't so spread out! I have been trying to start a little "sew & crow" group in my area... sadly few appreciate "the needle arts" anymore. You frannie, are a treasure!
Blessings, Rhonda

OK OK, just saw your APRONS! What a great idea! I have often wondered if they will find the BINS of dollies I have packed away after I die, and wonder, as I do "what can we do with these?" LOL I just never thought of them as aprons & pockets! Just too cute!
Oh oh, I was also wondering if you might share more on the photo-journal cover process? I have a friend who does altered art stuff and I am thinking she would LOVE to give it a try! Thanks so much for sharing frannie! You are an inspiration!
And oh my-you have a blog! Where have I been?
Blessings,
Rhonda

rhonda,
thanks so much for the interest and encouragement.
the new aprons, made from blue ticking have been embellished with a crocheted piece that i dismantled from a pillow top. i only have 4 of these pieces. so i have stared at them a while and enjoyed looking at them before i started thinking what i could use them with.
i dont know yet if all of them will be for aprons or if they may be incorporated into apurse, or backpack.
i do have ablog, but it has changed and now i cant get it to download my pics. so i will probably start posting directly here again.
i will post a new post on the journal covers next.

ok,
here is the scoop on the journals.
start with a piece of canvas that is a little larger than you need the cover to be.
paint it with gesso and let dry.
oh, the size will have to be smaller than 8 by 11, because you have to feed it through the copier.
next i select a photo or some art work i have done and i scan it, determine the size i want it to be and then copy it on the piece of canvas.
i accomplish this by taping it carefully to a piece of regular paper that i put in the bunch with the other copy paper. oh yes, i copy it in color, even if it is a sepia or old black and white photo.
now i should have a lovely vintage photo on a piece of canvas. it has already been gessoed so i can either paint it, or if it is a photo i have already colorized it will already be colored, i've done it both ways.
after it looks like you want it too, then you use waterbased lacquer or varnish and let it dry well between each layer..you do about 4 layers, the more the better, then finish up with a wax.
the piece of canvas should now be very much like a piece of vinyl or leather. very soft or pliable.
the directions for this are really like making a floor clothe. any good book on floor clothes should have the directions. i just adapted it to a journal cover cause thats what i wanted.
it can be a little tricky getting it to go in the copy machine and i pray alot when it is going through the copier, also i dont do this project when dh is home cause i dont think he would get it. and i'm just trying to spare him any undue anxiety.
hope this wasnt too long. if your friend needs more info or pics let me know. i wish you lived around the corner we could get together and have a craft day.
