sunshine, i wasnt sure we ever finalized that but i can be a little dingy, so really i think we could talk about it. actually i have a crocheted piece that i have wondered if you could reproduce and make a few for me, if you do that kind of thing. that seems like nuclear science to me as i dont really crochet. so if that kind of trade would sound good to you let me know and i will email you and we could talk details.

Frannie, What a great collection of stuff you have, I want to come look. I think fixing up a place to sell your things is a great idea. How will you get people to come look? You could advertise in a local paper, you know, antiques, hand mades and collectibles. Keep posting pictures so we can see how it is coming along. NANCY JO

well, our farmgirl angel has returned. were in the heck have you been, nancy jo. gloria, posted a thread looking for you and we have all missed your daily posting. i wish you did live closer to me i would get you to help me with your knowledge of tag, and garage sales. my thoughts on my house sale is that i will open at first once a month in conjunction with the monthly trade days that we have in bonham. that is the weekend that everyone here usually has there sales. one way folks here advertise is on a local radio program where you call in and advertise your sales or what you are looking for etc. it is a fun show and nothing slick just authentic small town america. also around here there are strategic street corners where everyone post their garage sale info so i will have to make some signs. so glad to see your post nancy jo. we missed you.

FRANNIE, That sounds like a great idea, is the picture above part of your house or another building? Just keep fixing up the space and keep showing us pictures. It might be fun to always have a dollar table. maybe you could show off some of your hand made things, and take orders. You might want to require a down payment to make sure they come back. I really hope this works out for you, its such a good idea. NANCY JO |

thank you nancy jo, those are some great ideas and just the thing i am looking for to make this project work. a little history, i was trained and educated as an occupational therapist, and did that work for 15-20 years, mostly working with the elderly. the healthcare industry has gone thru a lot of changes which are not very compatible with my beliefs, and then i had some health problems which also made it difficult for me to continue working as a therapist. so for the past 6 years i have been at home as a full time wife, homemaker and now omie! i really loved the work, but the pay as a homemaker is well, nothing. so i started about the project of trying to bring in some income at home. dh continues to work at his job at the va and he has two part time jobs, but i still hold on to the dream that i can make money here at the farm. my crafts have started to help thanks mostly to the support of my farmgirlfriends, and this fall/winter i will be doing 3 craft shows with a galfriend who is very successful in the craft show biz. she is generously supporting my efforts by sharing her booth with me. it is surely great to have good friends. so when my mom passed away i did find myself with an inheritance which i really wanted to do something meaningful with. srt if in honor of her life and the fact that she was really impressive with her ability to save money. i just didnt want to squander it away on somethin, like groceries and then wonder later, where did it all go. so we had these two cottages moved in here at the farm. we got them i feel for a great price but they are definitely fixer uppers. our ultimate goal is to turn them into a b&b type situation where people can come and stay and experience the rural life that we have here at the farm. in the meantime the one you see on this post is being set up as a inside garage sale to make money for the fix ups. hope to get a chance this week to post more pics of the cottages on the outside so folks can see them. thanks nancy jo for your suggestions, they are great. so glad your back on line.

fRAN, I went to the thrift store a few days ago, lets see, I got a bag of craft stuff for a dollar, there are about 30 of thoses little brooms in there, have to think of something to do with them. Got another bag of Christmas things, you don't know until you get home what you really have, but there were some cute things in there to put on presents and a few things for the tree, and a bunch of jingle bells. I got something for one of the girls in the RAOK, CAN'T SAY HERE WHAT, WOULD SPOIL THE SURPRISE. Also got a pretty little box with apples and other fruit all over it. A really pretty wire basket with little red beads all woven in. Very Victorian looking. I would have stayed and shopped longer but my sister in law was in a hurry, so I will go back in a few days. Looks like you will have time to get some good stuff ready for your craft shows, should be a lot of fun. Whenever you can mail my package is fine, I know I will love it. NANCY JO |
