I totally agree! Our paths crossed a few time over the years, but we were both either married or in a relationship. I knew SOMEDAY it would come to fruition!!

Ok, I know where that area is. I am just across the river from Quincy, just south of Hannibal...northeastern part.

I was just thinking - Beltane is right around the corner - what do you all do on May Day? I was just looking at a lovely purple tiered skirt on Ebay and am looking for a gypsy choli top or something equally witchy with bell sleeves - I love dressing up and being in the woods - There is a liquor store that sells May Day wine but I think I will try to make some of my own this year- I can feel the earth getting ready to wake........okay, so maybe she just rolled over and grabbed another chocolate cupcake hehehe but it won't be long!
Do any of you communicate with the faeries/elementals or devas?

Kathy,

We put on our belly dancing garb (and by we I mean I do and Grace wears fabrics that make her look like a belly dancer and some jinlge jewelry) and we wake up our woods...even though they have been growing and stretching, we behave as the snooze alarm!! We take our tambourines and rums and shakers and maracas and run around int he woods. We party it up with the Fae and usher the Summer Fae to the outside to get things growing even more, it isn't cold anymore, so they don't need to keep warm inour house. We intive the Winter Fae inside to stay cool through the wamr months. We do the same thing at Midsommer and then at the Harvest Moon to have one last party with the Wee Folk before the cold sets in. We then invite the Summer Fae into the house for the Winter to keep warm, and usher out the WInter Fae so they can do their Winter work.

I did belly danicng a few years ago, and have recently gotten back into it. I have a blue and aqua costume that I adore and I just got a sage colored costume on ebay yesterday to use for when we wake things up at Beltane.

I love the celebrations we have....we generally don't do elaborate ritual-if we do ritual at all-because the kids and their attention spans, but we make it fun for all involved.

Oh, you know, Ostara comes first, BTW....is there anything you do for that?

I take Ostara very personally as a woman. I have a staff that my dad made for me out of some diamond willow (he is an amazing wood carver!) It is like the wood grew perfect to fit my hand! Anyhow....I go out by myself, as the grower int he physical sense-I grow babes in my womb, I am the Nurturer, the Mother- and so I go out by myself, having prepped anything I need for the ritual ahead of time as it is only me. I wear a robe -though I have a new flowy beautiful thing I got this past Summer from another Witch that I am going to wear this year- then when I am where I will have my ritual (usually in the woods-at our outdoor altar site, or in the middle of our back field) I get nekkid and have my ritual to wake the Mother from her Winter's rest. I feel so in touch with Gaia during this ritual and it touches me like nothing else does all year. Again, I do it alone because of my role in the family-and Rob honestly adores it that way, as they stay int he house and do their own thing to welcome me back in from the awakening.

Ahh, I am so envious of you girls who are living in wooded areas! I am definaitly going tostart celebrating the Sabbats.

I asked my friend today for a PArty Lights Catalogue because I needed to order some candles. Big Mistake! They had a Buddha tealight holder. Yes, I ordered to add to my alter. It is sooo cool!
You all need to come visit me and go to the Bristol Renaissance Faire!!!

***hugs to all*** in the golden dusk of Sycamore IL!

I'm also envious of those who have woods they can dance naked in!

I hope no one minds me lurking on this very interesting thread!

Kim and Sarah,
I lived the first 30 years of my life in central Illinois. My son was born at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria, Illinois. I went to high school in Jacksonville, IL. Been to Quincy and spent my childhood in Moline, IL. I love Illinois and miss the midwest. I grew up a farmgirl and have been citified way too long!! Have a great meet up, eat scones and have hot tea and have a heck of a great time. Some of us Virginia gals will be meeting up this spring or summer! Oh, and Tasha your plans for the upcoming sabbats sound glorious!

Sarah - for menstral cramps you can drink raspberry leaf tea - get a very good brand (herbal) or order some raspberry leaves from a good source and make your own (Mountain Rose Herbs) - you can try relaxing herbal teas such as peppermint or catnip - before bed you can drink skullcap/valerian tea but don't drive after drinking them - Traditional Medicinals makes a tea called Female Toner that is supposed to be really good - and I swear by fresh grated ginger root with honey and maybe a white tea bag tossed in a teapot. You might have to adjust the amount of ginger you use, I use so much that I think I am immune to it but it can feel like it burns when you drink it - I find it soothing and warming.

Thanks Kathy, I have some raspberry tea around here I think. Thanks for all that great info.

Georgann...I've spent alot of time in Jacksonville. Had a roommate from there and almost married a guy from there once. It would be really great to meet up with some of you great farmgals. I've lived in this area most of my life. Not always a good thing, lol, but it isn't bad.

Blessings....

Yes, that is cool. The candle map was really fun to see. Someone has thought up a great idea!

Tasha, I have been going through some of the girls outgrown dresses. Would you be opposed to my sending them too. They are some of their nicer things. Velvets and one gorgeous chiffon spring floral and a few others. I finally located some of my stash of flannel. I thought it was in the attic, but I've found it in my closet in a nice neat storage tub. That is why the delay, well and also because I had the flu!!

Which calendar did you get aside from the '07 calendar?

In the planner, I use the calendars in the back of it....the ones with the Moon cycle right on the date box...I use that for charting my Moontime. I love that calendar and the couple of days I didnt have it this year-as I thought I ordered it, but I didn't, so I had to wait :( I was lost!!!

I bet you will grow to love it and not to ever want to be without a we'moon!

I also got the 2005 calendar. I haven't had a chance yet to really go through it, but I love the 2007 one. I took the planner to work last night and scoured through it. There is so much to learn about the moon and her cycles.

Blessings....
