It is a beautiful day here. I turned the AC off last night and opened all the windows. They are still opened. Me and hubby went to church this morning then went to my parent's for dinner. I have the best mother ya'll. She fixed a salad. We had to eat that first. We ate out on the back deck. So while we ate salad mom was inside fixing all our plates. (I didn't know she was doing that or I would have helped her.) She brought them all out for us. She had baked salmon, baked potatoes, creamed spinach and sweet potato souffle. It was wonderful. Then we had some wedding cake and fruit for dessert. But before dessert, mom and I walked on this great walking path right behind their house. It's along a creek and back behind the main road. It was so nice. Mostly shady. But you would never know it's right in town. So we walked the whole thing. Then came back and had the cake and fruit. It was very nice. Next time they come back I will have dinner here. But she is having fun cooking when they are here. So we let her!

I am so tired. I have almost fallen asleep a few times. I will start back to a regular routine of walking tomorrow. I am so glad there are still some walking with me. Let's keep it up! We can do this! The weather is turning so nice now. We can't stop.

Judy, sounds like you are having some nice days there. I hope that table works for you. And I don't know if I'd want a ceremony to go that long. That's alot of work!

Way to go, Lilly! Keep it up, girl!

Kris,
Thanks for such a little uplifting note! I rec'd it when I got home from my first day at my new job. It was so encouraging. I went out and bought a new pair of sneakers with a new set of insoles and I walked all over Vizcaya Museum and Gardens today. My feet hurt but I made it! Thanks again for the little note! It meant so much! You're all doing so well! I am so excited for all of you! Keep going!

Monica, I hope you had a good day at your new job. What will you be doing? I am so glad you got a new pair of shoes. But you better be having those feet propped up right now, girl! Or soaking them. You should do both really. You have to take good care of those feet. I hope the new shoes will be a good fit for you. But go easy. Let us know about your new job.

That WAS so sweet of him to get the choo choo suite, what a memory huh?
Next, I want to say thank you for the smiley stickers, put last Sunday thru Thursday on there and haven't walked since, but have been doing other stuff like helping hubby clear out brush from around our pond. what a chore! our arms AND legs ached because he also went up the ladder to cut down tree limbs and i helped hold the ladder blah blah blah.. lol we have the weirdest tress that grow t a l l and twisted, all trying to reach the light. so it was a jungle, but proud to say we got it done. :) will start walking again tomorrow..

Make my words soft and tender, for I may have to eat them. :)

I am just so glad that I have so many walking buddies. You are all my motivation. I would not be doing this if it weren't for all of you here. It makes me want to walk and keep doing it. I am going this morning with the ladies. Then hubby wants to go to the Polo field in Ft. Oglethorpe thuis afternoon. They have all kinds of kid stuff and music and crafts. But they also have BBQ. He wants to take grands to that. SO lots of walking there too. I hope it's not too hot.

Ya'll have a good Labor day too. Ruth, I know. I feel it too when I miss a few days. Lousy. So get to walking, lady!

Patsy, it looks like ya'll had a good workout with those trees. That is alot of work for sure.

Hi Everyone. Thank you, Kris, for the note --that was so very sweet of you!! My husband had to be admitted into ER & has been in the hospital since Friday, so I haven't been around lately. Mostly just dash home & back to the hospital. I'm thankful that my oldest is 16 (she doesn't drive yet, tho) and can help out with the other children. I'm very tired & have a migraine, but am hopeful (in one way) that they may be releasing him today?? He has "A-typical" pneumonia along with some other thing that is baffling the doctors of why is oxygen levels are so low, so he's been on continuous oxygen. Sure could use prayers for him. We walked around the hospital floor w/a portable oxygen tank yesterday as per the nurse's suggestion. He was winded from that, though the pace was slow. I really think they'll release him today, but he's not better, so but they've run tons of blood tests, chest x-rays & CT scan & they're not sure why his oxygen saturation is low. I hope everyone is staying healthy. Keep walking. I'm thinking (& rooting) for you all. xoxo

Monica I sure hope your new job pans out for you good luck.

Kris you keep saying everyone keeps you going do you ever think that maybe you help keep others going.

Well even if you guys do not walk every day I sure try to do so. Did this mornings mile and again worked in the yard. The pounds are not moving one way or the other but I do feel better and because I get up so early I do get alot done. So I keep pushing. Lilly

Jewel, I have missed you here. Now I see why. I know you are worried about your hubby. I hope and pray they find out what is wrong with him soon before they send him home. Poor guy. That is strange about his oxygen. I will be praying for him and for you also. That's alot to have to stay at the hospital and have kids at home. It is so good your sweet daughter is helping at home. She is a good girl and I know you are proud of her. Tell her she is being prayed for also as she takes on this big responsibility for her parents. You don't see that very much and it makes me feel good to know there are still good teenagers that love their families.

I walked this morning with my walking friends. It was cool but when I got done I was hot. I went on up to the end of the road and back to the camp. One of the ladies had gotten us all orange bandanas because bow season has started and we are walking back in the woods where it's hunting land. That was very nice and very smart of her to think of that. One of the girls has her dog that follows us. We need to put one on him.

My hubby has been home since Friday. So this morning before I left to go walking, he said he'd have cereal for breakfast. I put it on the table for him and showed him where the bread and bananas were. When I got home he's gone. And I knew right away why. I had milked this morning and had not strained the milk yet so it was still in the bucket in the fridge right next to a half gallon jug with about 2" in the bottom. I also had a gallon of milk in the back of the fridge. But the poor guy would have had to bend over and move some things to see it. So he went to town to Hardees to eat. I knew that was what happened the minute I saw his cereal bowl with cereal in it still on the table. Men! So I told Kansas, who was here this morning, that when she is ready to get married, that is a requirement that he should be able to bend over and move things around in the fridge before she says yes! Silly man. I know most men are like this too.

Jewell, I'm so sorry about your DH. That is so scary for everyone. I'm glad they did a CT, did it show anything? Your daughter is a sweetie to help out, tell her we all send her "thank yous" and hugs. I'm sure she is concerned about her Daddy as well.
You need to take care of you too! Try to get some good rest and good food.
Kris, Your hubby is too funny! If I want to hide something, all I do is put it behind something - he never finds it! He'll say where did you get that? I'll say it was in the cabinet/fridge, really???? yes! All the guys in our family are pretty much the same, if it doesn't jump out and say "here I am", they can't see it! That is why they need us! Besides, if he is like my DH, he just wanted to go to Hardees. Dave, Loves Hardees! Cereal not so much!
Ya just have to love em though - he keeps me on my toes! DH was looking for two t-shirts the other day, he hunted them for a least two days, finally I went and pulled out a drawer, there they were all neat and folded, wrong drawer.
Have to go sew - hugs and happy walking
We will walk in the morning - will be good to get back into it.

Ruth, what are you working on? I need to get my machine fixed so I can use it again. I love to sew totes and curtains and easy things. I want to learn to make skirts and dresses for me. Your hubby does sound like mine. I bet they are all alike. And my daughter Heather and Kansas are the very same way. It must run in the family. They are so bad about only looking on the top of things. Never move anything. It's very annoying but kind of funny at the same time. He claims it's because he's so tall and has a hard time bending over. So I said we need to get one of those fridges that have the freezer on the bottom and fridge on TOP so he can see right in front of him. SO here's hoping! I hope ya'll have a nice sool walk in the morning.

I do hope we hear from Jewel today our thoughts are with you.

Kris I had the same problem with my walk this morning did my mile at 7am and boy was I hot when I got back. Worked just a little in the yard, worked some on the camper for our trip next week. Then came in closed all the windows and put the AC back on. OK what size are you? (You can email me with that.) What colors and styles do you like in the skirts. I have so much material that I have to do more with it then I am doing for it is not going anywhere fast. I do to many crafts, home projects etc. I will run out of life before I run out of projects. Or give me some Idea and I can send you an easy pattern. If you can sew you will be able to do a skirt. Lilly

Hello, ladies! Got my walk in during lunch today. DH has picked up some extra shifts so I was on my own but it was peaceful and there was a tiny bit of misting rain--we sure could use a real rain. I sooooo identify with Lillian's statement "I will run out of life before I run out of projects." LOL

Thank you for the prayers for my husband & family. I really appreciate it. He's in a lot of pain. They're keeping him on for today, too. He broke a rib last night from coughing & said there's nothing they can do but up his pain medicine. Yesterday was an emotional day. Did a lot of crying. Kids are doing well. Yes, I'm so thankful that my teen daughter is who she is. Very blessed. They've got him on a ton of medicines and are going to try to wean him off of oxygen today even though his oxygen levels are low in him because they're hoping to release him tomorrow. He's back to talking in a whisper since it hurts so much. I guess they figure he's at point that they've run all the tests that they can & his health is at a stand still. Since this is a walking thread, I will say that he and I walked with his oxygen tank/IV pole 4 different times around the floor. Am not sure if he'll be up to it today with the rib. Thank you, Ladies, for caring. Keep walking & staying healthy!!

Jewel, I am so sorry he is in such pain. And now a broken rib. Goodness. This is strange that they don't know what's wrong with him. I hope they find out before they send him home. And please keep us updated even though you aren't walking. We are concerned and want to know what's up with our "walking sister". He will be in my prayers and you too.

Lilly, where are you going on your trip? I have a camper too and would love to go somewhere. We need to insure it and get tags and then get the electric brakes and lights fixed in the truck before we can even hook it up. Ok, I am going to tell you here what size I wear. That way it will be out there and I will have to do something more about it. Actually I was buying a few things in sizw 20. The last things I got were 18. The pants I really like are getting a bit loose now!!! So hopefully in a few weeks I will go try on some 16s and see how they fit. I would love to get back to a size 12. At least a 14 I will be happy with. So I need to get BUSY and get this off! I sure wish you lived closer and could give me sewing lessons. I can sew like curtains and shopping bags. I probably sew a plain skirt with elastic waist. I have one that I could use for a pattern. I think there is a better way to do the elastic than to have to push it through. Don't they make like an elastic tape or something?

Starletta, I hope you get some rain. We are supposed to get some tomorrow. We had a few sprinkles this afternoon. I hope that wasn't it. We are SO dry here it's bad. I am so afraid of a fire spreading so fast right now. I am glad you got in your walk today. I walked 1 time around a track with my oldest DD this afternoon then had to leave. I will walk in a little while. I have my walking shoes still on. I am not taking them off till I walk. I did see a snake on the way to walk yesterday morning. So I hope I won't see one tonight. It was a dead snake too. The best kind!

Kris, I was working on quilt blocks for the Fall quilt block exchange - all done and in the mail!
Jewel, I am so sorry your DH broke a rib, that hurts so bad, and they can't do much about it. Has he seen a good pulmonologist? Sounds like he needs a good specialist, or maybe another opinion. Sometimes they can't see the trees for the forest!
Kris, I'd help you sew, come on over! You don't live that far away, and my machine is portable - I'll come to you!
We walked this morning - felt good - then I went "junkin" with some girlfriends. Got a few treasures!
Happy walking, and prayers to Jewel and her family,
Ruth

Jewel I am soooo sorry that things are going like they are. You and in prayers as much as can be told to others. There is something going on and they need to find it before they send him home.

It is dry here as well with no rain in the forcast. Hubby is worried with planting a fall garden and going away next week for 4 weeks it will not make it. Did not do a summer garden for we took a 3 month trip in RV to Alaska.

Kris see you want help with sewing and it came out at you. If you have any styles you like more then just elastic let me know I can also make you a pattern. The easy way to put elastic in is to make your skirt. have your waitband 1/2 way sowen on. Measure your elastic to you sew it together. Lay it on the unfinished waitband in it in place and sew it closed. No threading the elastic through. Hope this helps.

As for the husband thing. The milk and the cereal. They are all the same. It does not have to be a bend over thing. Mine can have it right in his face at eye level and still not see it. When I point it out to him he says you just put it there. He is also the biggest mess maker I know. I call him my two year old.

As for walking you are doing great. I still am holding to 2 or so miles a day. I have now made more effort with my eatting. That is making me feel much better as well. As for our trip. Tuesday we head for Boston Mass and NY city. More later. Lilly

LOL-I completely agree with you on the snake issue....once I killed a snake that was after some baby birds in the nest by hitting it about 100 times with the hoe...and then called my DH in tears saying that I messed with the balance of nature...the boy scouts that were camping at our place certainly had a big story to tell their parents about Mrs. Schipp!!!

Ruth, I hope you will post some pictures of your quilt when you get it finished. I need to get mine back out and work on it some more. This cooler weather makes me want to make things. I love it. I have been working on rag rugs, crocheting dish clothes, and working on my mail art for Sept. I cleaned out my fridge this morning. It looks so good now. It really was getting nasty in there. No wonder poor hubby can't find things. I wish he were here now to see it. Hopefully it will still be clean next time he's home. I have also been working on fences. My sewing machine is portable too. I love it. I am going to take off up that way one day soon when the leaves start turning. Hubby rode his motorcycle up through Elijay to the Blue Ridge Parkway then to the Smokies Sat. with some of his biker buddies. I want to go next time he's home. But I need to be able to stop about every 50 miles to rest my butt and walk a little. So maybe I'll see ya soon, Ruth! But I'll be in the car so I can bring my machine.

Lilly, Thanks for the sewing help. And I hope ya'll have a good time. Will you have your computer with you when you go? If you don't we'll miss you here.

Starletta, that sounds like something I'd do. I had a few snakes in my yard last year. I'd be throwing things at them and not hit them at all. And the dogs walk right over them. I have no aim at all.

I got to walk 3 miles this morning with the other ladies. My 2 fast walkers weren't there today. But the other one I walked with was pretty fast. Then she had to leave and I was with the others. Which is fine. I love talking to them all. We had 2 new ladies today. They didn't walk the whole way. They will soon though. And we found a spring. Jennie said I could go back there any time and get water. So I am. I have to go back and do something about their goats back. Looks like something has bitter her. She needs something put on it so I will make a paste with turmeric and aloe. That works greta on wounds.

Ya'll have a good walk today! We are doing so good. I hope the others are too. I hope to hear form some more soon.

Kris

Startella I come across the snakes when I am working in the yard mostly garden snakes. If they do not come at me I move them to a different part of the yard with a rake. If they come at me they are dead, head off with no questions asked.

Jewel prayers for your whole family and hugs.

Miss Kris a bike is good it still counts you just need to do more.

Kris you are more then wecome. Yes we carry a lap top but wifi is not always good so we will see. I still need to learn to do pictures on here. I have not taken the time to read up on it to many irons in the fire right now. Walked, waxed and shampooed the rest of the camper today. Lilly

Kris, bikes are great. I am thinking of looking for one. I could ride alot further than I can walk. Good for you!

Lilly, you've been busy today. I sent you a copy of the Grandmother bread today. It is good. I hope it gets there before you leave. You could make some for the trip.

Yay, Michele! Good to hear from you and that you're still out there walking. Or in your case hiking. Where do you go to hike? I bet it's beautiful there. My cousin lived there for a few years. She is now a little farther up in Idaho. Can't remember where right now.

Hi Monica. Is there any way to raise your feet during the day? I notice when I sit alot mine do the same thing. Maybe soak them at night for awhile too. It's good to hear from you too.

I didn't walk today. I did pull all the weeds from a raised bed to plant collards and turnips tomorrow. I need to buy seeds. And I pulled all the weeds from around the rocks in my foundation border. Also raked leaves already. Yes, my yard is full of leaves! It's going to be an early fall here. I noticed over on Pigeon MT. some color already. My maple tree in the corner is all yellow. I also cleaned out the turkey coop. SO I did work out some today. I'll be walking in the morning. I'll walk a little farther too.

Goodness ya'll. I went walking with the ladies up the road and there were 2 new gilrs. Well, one is about my mom's age and the other about my age. They are fast walkers! I took off with them but about half way I was huffin' and puffin' up the hills. They were fast. But it was good to walk so fast. I needed it. I hope they keep coming. I had fun walking with them. But I am pooped!
