CJ,
I just want to let you know that I am praying for you and your entire family. I really can't imagine what it takes for all you day by day. We have gone through surgeries, illness, death but nothing that compares to level you do.
God has blessed you with an amazingly strong character and love.
Thank you for sharing your life, it makes me want to be better.

ceejay, do you think her "not being at peace" is because she's been through so much lately??? Maybe it's just catching up?? At any rate, my thoughts and prayers are with you, as always, hope your day went well!!

I come again, thanking all of you for your prayers, support and encouragements. I thank you for hanging in there with us for the long haul . . . it is a long haul!!!

Friday was a better day for my sister. She wears contact lenses and we have kept that going even though getting them in and out is usually a fuss. They are 30 day lenses so it's only monthly thing.
But they removed her lenses before surgery in December in Denver. Her hubby just put them in a case and kept them but never had them put back in. So, when she comes home she's "blind as a bat" ... can't see the TV but can hear it.

She and I have the same eye doctor and I've been getting fitted for a new kind of contact lenses, when means I've been going in weekly for a couple of weeks for "progress" exams to see if they are the right Rx. Anyway, we talk about my sister and I told the dr. the situation and asked him if she could see the TV and he said "No".

Friday I found her glasses and put them on her . . . she never once fussed about having them one and did not attempt to remove them. She very clearly was happier at being able to SEE the TV . . . she calmed down and it made a big difference in her day. She could actually see things . . . so she could process the information more properly. WOW!!!!

Her niece, who was a caregiver and had figured out a technic for getting her lenses in without too much fight, came by later that afternoon and we got her new lenses put in. She fights that, but she usually does on some level, but mission accomplished and I think that will make a difference.

Suzie . . . you are right in that she has gone through so much and deep down in her "core" she has some comprehension of that. I had seen her giving up , , , but now that she is not having so much pain and that staph infection is being destroyed, I have seen her regain some of the fight that she needs to get well. Get well, not just from the surgery but the brain injury.

So-o-o-o, we continue to hope, care, love . . . and PRAY!!!!
THANKS AGAIN FOR CONTINUED PRAYERS!
LOVE YOU ALL!!
CJ

A long time ago I wore the 30 day contacts and when I went to a different eye doctor he said yes they are 30 day lens but that I still should take them out at night. I switched back to glasses and I love them. It sounds like your sister perfers the glasses especially since she did not fight you with them but is fighting you on the lens. She may be saying I just want glasses. My brother got glasses when he was 6 weeks old 52 years later he still wears glasses and never once complained about them. Listen to her, even if she's unable to speak she is showing you what she wants.
I'm praying for all of you.

Hope all your days are Sunnydays.

Diane . . . I tend to agree with you. However, her hubby may need convincing . . . that may be possible, but I don't know. I haven't said anything about just letting her wear glasses because it certainly would be easier. But when her next exam is due I may make that suggestion. She would probably need a new pair of glasses, which would be fine.
I, personally, prefer contact lenses without question. I have glasses to wear only if I need them. I started wearing contacts WA-A-YYYYY back when the hard ones were the only thing happened and they were a new idea then. I'm REALLY HAPPY with the new soft, oxygen permeable, multi-focal ones!!!
Anyway . . . we'll see what happens down the road with this.

Back to work with my sis for past two weeks. It is good to see her doing better at standing and transferring. She attempts to walk but is VERY UNSTABLE and has VERY POOR BALANCE, so that will take a LOT of time to get her back to any level of tolerance.

My upper arms are feeling it . . . like they were before she left for surgery. I knew that, with a month off from the physical demands of working with her, I'd feel it again when going back to work. So, I'm hoping that it'll subside as I get back into the routine and she gets stronger.

She is still receiving IV antibiotics for the staph infection, fighting off UTIs and such as well. It's a never ending battle.
PT and OT people have come to see her . . . that is good, but every time a new person comes they come with the attitude that they are going to "cure" her.

So, we have another normal (whatever that is) week ahead. Then they are supposed to go back to Denver for followup appts. with both the surgeon and the infectious disease specialist on the 27th. Plan to drive up on the 26th, do appts. and return home on the 28th. It's 400 miles ONE-WAY to make this trip and, no matter, which route you take, involves negotiating at least 3 major mountain passes . . . and it is winter . . .and this is Colorado!

Again, I say to all of you THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!! for all your prayers and encouragmenets.
I ask that the prayers continue for everything and everyone!!!
THANKS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH!!
CJ

Hope you had a couple days off to give your arms and back a bit of a rest, remember, you have to take care of you to my friend!!! Lots of love and prayers headed your way, as always!!

My sis is scheduled for a return trip to Denver (400 miles one-way) this next week for followup visits with the orthopedic surgeon and infectious disease specialist.
If it weren't for the fact that her case is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO complicated I'd encourage her hubby to get some referral/consults here with her local physician.
Anyway, they plan to leave on Tuesday the 26th, have both appts. on the 27th and return home on the 28th.

SW Colorado is getting slammed with snow and travel across our state in the winter is nothing short of a challenge. One has to negotiate at least THREE major mountain passes between here and Denver. Right now all passes that they would have to travel are closed.

Pray for the weather to clear, for the roads to open and for this trip to be a safe one. Pray for her to be CLEARED of the staph infection, that her incision will look like it supposed to . . . etc., etc.

THANKS FOR ALL YOUR PRAYERS IN THE PAST!!!
THANKS FOR ALL YOUR CONTINUED PRAYERS!!!

Prayers sent. The weather in the city is really good right now. The roads are clear and it not too cold. We have a slight chance of snow next wednesday, but you know how the weather is in Colorado.

ceejay, hope you get a break in the weather and they have blue skies, and dry and dusty roads, not too likely though, huh??!! Hopefully the passes will be open and clear, it's amazing what those guys on the plows and graders can do when they can finally get going!! We lived in the mtns. of Central Or. for 10 yrs., lots of trials and tribulations all but one winter!! Prayers for your sister and that things go better than expected!! always thinking of you!!

Thanks Robin . . . yeah, I know how Colorado weather is. And, we usually have different weather on the Western Slope and you guys do on the Front Range. When they were there for her surgery in December you got a lot of snow. Our older sister lives in Westminster . . . her daughter does too. They have kept us informed of the snow and our older sis complains bitterly if it is cold. But then she isn't a very healthy person and hasn't figured out how to dress for it (how that is I'll never know, she's lived in Colorado all her life!)
Anyway . . . we just pray . . . and hope

Suzie . . . dry and dusty is not likely. Even muddy and sloppy isn't either . . . not in a few days with as much snow as we've gotten in the last 4 days!!! My hubby and I have been enjoying it however . . . keeping the drive cleared and a path to the drive, the shop and over the hill to his cows has been a challenge.
We have some friends who moved here several years ago from Texas. They complain about the snow . . . I have told them that THIS IS COLORADO!!!!!
Anyway, THANKS GIRLS!!!!

I know all about snow, I hate driving in it. I will definetly say a prayer that not only does the roadway clear and that the news from the doctors are good but also that the sun will shine warmly on the way & back.

Hope all your days are Sunnydays.

Thanks dear farmgirl friends!!
We've had 2 days of sunshine, so that allows for roads to be cleared and open. It is supposed to bring in more snow however between tomorrow eve and when they are to return on Thursday.

I helped get her packing done today and her hubby actually did most of his too. Last time they went, he waited until the morning they left to start packing. I had not been at work the day before then otherwise I would have had most of that done.

Anyway, pray for doctor visits. Physical therapist has some concerns about her hip . . . That she will be cleared, the IV port can come out (it's been in since the end of September) and she can come home without any hitches and get back to her therapy and such.

THANKS AGAIN, FOR ALL YOUR PRAYERS!!!
YOU FARMGIRLS "ROCK"!!!

Hey Suzie . . . the thought that you were trying to be a smarty pants never even entered my mind. It made me smile . . . and I appreciate that.
I'm headed down there is a few minutes to get her ready to go. I'm not going with them so I'll be off the rest of the day. I'm usually off on Weds. and Thurs. anyway . . . back to work on Friday. So, I hope they do make it back on Thursday. It's too soon after being off for a month to lose much more time. Her other caregiver will be losing time for Wed/Thurs. as well.

Anyway, no worries, Suzie!!! Thanks for your thoughts, encouragements and prayers!

Beautiful pictures, I love the dresses, all frilly and cute. I was a girl born 2 yr's after my brother so I got a lot of his hand me downs. Yet my 2 younger brothers never got any of mine unless they were from my older brother and I didn't wear them out.

Hope all your days are Sunnydays.
