Thanks for the birthday wishes!! It was a relaxing day. The only thing I HAD to do was teach my voice (as in singing) student when she came. But that is a pleasure to do!! We had a really nice lunch with friends at a cool restaurant (their treat). My dog and I went on a power walk . . . messed around most of the day. Finally, tackled the Christmas "heap" in my project room last night. That "heap" was all the Christmas gift items that needed organized and wrapped. That heap now looks like a neat stack of Christmas gifts!!!! YAY!!!!

Be praying for my sis and her consult with infectious disease specialist today. I'm praying that this staph infection will be KNOCKED OUT FOR GOOD REALLY SOON!!!

THANKS AGAIN GIRLS!!! YOU ARE APPRECIATED!!!

Hey there . . . just to let you know. Gaye Lynn is doing some better with her hip. She is transferring better, standing for a few minutes in the frame. Her hubby is pleased with that . . .states there doesn't seem to be any improvement in her cognition. The infectious disease specialist was very happy with the appearance of her incision without sign of infection, etc. They have a return visit to this Dr. this Thursday.

Our older sister, her daughter and all that family will be taking care of them for Christmas. I'm grateful that there is some family there so there is someone to share the holiday with.

Still see the orthopedic surgeon in followup on the 30th. Hopefully, she'll be released to come home. There will still be the need for considerable rehab PT at home, getting her back to walking some, etc. As always, we hang onto the hope that her brain function will improve . . . that has always been our hope and we have not really seen improvement in that regard.

THANKS FOR CONTINUED PRAYERS!!!!!
Hope all your final days of Christmas preparations are going smoothly . . . and that you're having fun with it.

We leave Thursday for Arizona for the holiday, returning home on the 30th.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

My sis is still in Denver, will see infectious disease specialist today again. They are still giving IV antibiotics and keeping an eye on the healing of incision. She continues rehab and making itty bits of progress in that.
They will be taken care of tomorrow, for Christmas by our older sister who lives nearby and her daughter and family.
I'm headed to Arizona to spend a few days with our daughter for the holiday. Looking forward to that.
Hopefully my sis will be healed up enough to be released and able to come home by the New Year!!!

THANKS FOR YOUR CONTINUED PRAYERS!!!! THANKS FOR YOUR ENCOURAGEMENTS AND SUPPORT!!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU ALL!!!

Talked with my brother-in-law on Christmas Day. They were planning on going to our niece's house for Christmas dinner and time for as long as my sis could tolerate. I haven't talked with him to see how it went yet.
He did say that she is healing well from the surgery, doing fairly well with rehab PT. THey have more followup medical appt. this week.

He also said he was going to try to get her in with a neurologist for followup on her brain injury. Please be in prayer about that . . . it raises a lot of questions!!!!

Anyway, thanks for your prayers and we thank you for your continued prayers!!!!!

Hope you all had a WONDERFUL CHRISTMAS!!!
HOPE YOU HAVE A TERRIFIC NEW YEAR!!!
THANKS!!!

I had a wonderful Christmas, I hope you and your family did also, prayers are continuing for you, your sister and brother in law. Neurologist, sounds scary. Hopefully he'll have the right answers. Stay postive.
Gramma Rose passed away peacefully on Dec.22, I went to visit her in the A.M. and all was well. I left her with books to read, she loved to read. She was very talkative and happy, one hour later I got a call that she had passed away. I was glad because she had just gone into a nursing home the friday before and she was treated well but she has been wanting to die for a long long time. I know she is talking her husbands ear off.

Hope all your days are Sunnydays.

Hey Farmgirls!
My sis is home!!! They traveled back from Denver yesterday. She is doing pretty good with recovery from surgery. I haven't seen her yet, but seems as though she is doing a bit of standing and walking.

She will be on IV antibiotics still for quite a while to destroy that staph infection. Home health will be seeing her on regular basis. So, we just pray that she will continue to improve.

This does not, however, mean that her cognition and comprehension will be improved. She still has a brain injury. I just pray that she will improve in that regard as well.

It looks like I will be returning to work with her on Monday, Jan. 4th. They do have to return to Denver later in January for followup visits with the orthopedic surgeon and infection diseases specialist. That will mean, at the very least, a 3 day trip for them.

SO-O-O-O-O-O THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU FOR YOUR PRAYERS AND ENCOURAGEMENTS!!!!!

Please continue to pray for her recovery and healing, getting back to some mobility . . . and for healing from the brain injury.

THANK YOU ALL!!!
GOD BLESS YOU!!!
CJ

Well . . . back to work today with my sister! That's a good thing!
She is doing pretty well as far as the surgery is concerned . . that's a good thing!! She has no more pain in that hip, is standing some, walking a little and transferring SO-O-O-O-O-O MUCH better! Makes such a HUGE difference when working with her!!!!
I'm VERY GRATEFUL!!!

They are glad to be home, having been gone a month . . . and it takes her hubby some time to go through mail, plow snow, etc., etc. It takes her time to settle back into being home . . . several days actually.

She was VERY active today, agitated and hollaring out . . . it's discouraging to see that come back. However, it seems that perhaps her deep down, subconscious desire to work at getting better is coming back. Before she had this surgery I could see that spirit in her dying and that was so-o-o-o discouraging. I was so glad to see some spark back in her.

LONG TERM antibiotics still to go, physical therapy to get her back to some mobility . . . it's a complicated situation.

So, your continued prayers are desired and appreciated . . . more than I can express!! Your prayers, support and encouragement have been and will continue to be cherished and appreciated!

THANK YOU!!!
CJ

CeeJay, I'm so glad your sister is home and doing better and standing with out pain is a true blessing. I think I would also be a little grouchy having to have people help me, I bet she's also very thankful for you and her DH but may not show it at times.
I had bloodwork this morning and a man was sitting in the waiting room when I arrived, I said to him I was expecting a room full of people he said you should be called next I'm just waiting for my wife. His wife came out pushing a walker and he put her coat on her and zipped it up and got her hat on just right, then I got called so in I went. I got the room next to the parking lot and it had a window. I looked out and saw that dear man pushing his walker pulling her walker through the snow, helping her into the car folding up her walker and placing it behind her seat, he closed the door for her and pushed his walker to the drivers side, it was just so wonderful to see the love and respect he had for her, I'm sure she was a great wife to him also. They were probley 85ish. It just made me feel good.

Hope all your days are Sunnydays.

It is such a rarity that the husband takes care of the wife. It's usually the other way around. We women must be much hardier. I'm glad for the picture you painted for us. Gives me faith is humankind.

Diane,
Thanks for sharing that story . . . it IS heartwarming!!

That is the kind of love that my brother-in-law shows for my sister. That, NO MATTER WHAT kind of love that TRULY IS commited love!! Even with the rest of her family to care for her . . . she would not be able to be cared for at home without him. She would not be where she is without him. I've tried to remind the rest of our family to be sure they let him know how much he is appreciated.
And, off I go here in a few minutes for another day with her . . . I hope she is more at peace today than she had been earlier in the week.
THANKS FOR YOUR PRAYERS and ENCOURAGEMENT!!
CJ
