My goodness...the diversity of women on this forum is truly amazing! But, I note a definite ever present theme here---We are all farmgirls through and through.

Ain't life grand?

Oh...I live in what used to be the Great North Woods in a restored Victorian home about 2-blocks away from the Bay of Green Bay in the Upper Peninsula of the Great State of Michigan

I live in a bustling Florida town called Port St Lucie, I'm sure you all remember the Hurricanes Jean and Francis? They went right over Port St Lucie in 2004 and that's the same time I moved to Florida from Northern CA/Oregon border. It was a shocker for me, had to stay 3 nights in a Hurricane Shelter, for the first one, seemed like forever!(our home was still under construction) but all is well, lived through it like everyone else and settling in ...it's only taken 6 years!!LOL, yes, my husband and I can now laugh as we look back at the experience! I owe a big portion of it to Mary Janes Farm, I found one of her magazines after I moved here in 2004 and it helped through the healing of the culture shock of moving from home and country living, etc... Thank you all!!!

Monica, that is my daughter's name...and....I believe it was Port St. Lucie that my son Joel visited to take his PGA golf pro testing. I know where it is on the map at least.

Yes, Claudia, there is a PGA Village here......and the only Club Med Resort in North America! We get interesting visitors from time to time because of it! We have a windy day here on the Treasure Coast, but beautiful and in the 80's! That's fun to share the same name as your daughter! That's exciting that your son is a PRO..did he just play in the Masters?

Good to hear from you Monica. My daughter is 42 and her nick name is Nik...MonNICa. She likes her name now, but didn't like it as a kid. When I told her it meant "woman of wisdom", she liked it better. My son is not a "pro-golfer" like Tiger etc., but is a "golf pro" who runs a golf club or course, management etc. One should be PGA certified to manage a golf course/ Joel, however, is an excellent golfer, but has not been on the pro golf circuit. We hit 70 degrees here for the first time and our night will be in the 40's. Last week our lows were in the 20's and it could still snow here, but Spring is in the air! Nice to write back to another "woman of wisdom!"

I live 2 miles from the WY border. Spearfish SD is located in the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota about 70 miles from MT Rushmore. Another landmark - Sturgis SD - we live about 25 mile from the city that hosts one of the largest motorcycle rally every Aug.

I'm from Minneapolis, Minnesota but I spent time on my uncles farm in Milton, Iowa. The farmgirl stuck. But my husband stayed in the city to teach....it's lasted 48 years! We have chickens next door and my cousin farms about 50 miles south of Minneapolis. Wish we could visit y'll.

currently in Reno, Nevada but we just bought 20 acres in Sandpoint, Idaho. Unfortunately we aren't moving up there for another 2 years or so but I can't wait to have a huge garden, chickens, horses, and everything else I've missed out on living in the burbs for the last 10 years!

I've been through Reno several times, but live about 50 miles from Sandpoint. What a difference in scenery and climate. I love it in Sandpoint....not only the mountains, Lk. Pond Orielle, Schweitzer Mt for skiing, but all the neat shops and restaurants. It truely is an artist's haven. The air is sweet and I know you will have a good time. Not wishing time away, but I hope your 2 yrs pass quickly.

Thanks Claudia...it is kind of a double edged sword regarding time, isn't it? But we'll get to visit for a while in July and I'll just try to convince hubby to spend as much free time up there as possible until we can make the move permanently. Plus, it definitely gives us something to look forward to :-)
