20 miles from Concan TX, which is really a little resort town. The community I live in used to be called Exile, TX. And that pretty much sums up how out of the way my place is. But I love it! |

Dallas Texas.......but I was raised a city girl in Chicago but I spent my summers in central Illinois.....small town named Atlanta, Where both sets of grandparents lived. My maternal grandparents had a small farmette in town. At one point they had hogs, and I got to play with the piglets. My grandma baked bread almost everyday and canned everything under the sun. They raised chickens and a calf every other year for food. Anyway...that's were my farmgirl heart came from.
My best to all, Mel

I'm from rural Indiana - in the middle of the soybeans, corn and wheat fields and surrounded by the county of 101 lakes.... :) Not to far from you Erika ;) We're patiently awaiting our "farm" :) |

I live in Portland Oregon-pretty much right in the inner city. I love that I can go to the beach in about an hour and that I can look out my window and see a huge mountain (Mt. Hood) covered in snow all year long. |

camden, south carolina! i do love it here: nice, beautiful historic town.....and we built our home here last year on 34 acres with a couple ponds so it is nice and peaceful......however, i have to say i do miss my home in jupiter, florida now that it's summer and i'm remembering how easy it was to just walk outside the (florida) house onto the dock and just drop the boat in the water and take off! ahhhhh, that beautiful acqua-blue water.....would feel so nice in this heat! |

Smack dab in the middle of the one-square mile rural town of Dansville. We are a farming community, about 20 minutes outside of Lansing & East Lansing. We are neighbors with other small rural towns, separated only by farm & field. We're considered a part of Mid-Michigan. Moved out here from the Detroit area & will never move back that way again! Love it out here. Our claim to fame is the movie, "The Burning Bed" starring Farrah Fawcett, based on the true story of folks that lived right here in town. Lots of farmgirl resources out here!

We live in a century old colonial house in the middle of the city of Rochester, NY. Rochester is a medium sized city in western New York. The outlying areas are apple orchards and dairy and produce farms.
There is good and bad about living in the city- good: museums, shopping, easy commutes, Wegmans grocery stores, lots of farm markets and locally grown food, friendly people, good hiking and cycling trails, and- city dwellers are permitted up to 6 chickens (which I have not done yet because we travel so much). Bad: schools, crime.
Almost all of my backyard is a vegetable garden. This year I am trying a long distance garden at my mother's house in my home town in St. Lawrence County. Oh, how I long to be back in the boondocks and farmland of St. Lawrence County, on the banks of the Oswegatchie River; someday...

I live in a suburban neighborhood just inside the foothills of the Rocky Mountains about 8 miles west of Littleton, Colorado. It's a really nice community with open space for hiking and beautiful formations of red rocks. We moved here because it was close to my husband's work but we've been tossing around the idea of moving somewhere with more land. We're waiting for a couple more of the kids to leave the nest so we won't have so much stuff to move. :-)
