i'm baking homemade bread and i swear, the smell of it can't compare to anything else! though, most homemade meals cooking in the oven smell pretty darn good, too.... so i was wondering, what are your favorite smells? it doesn't even have to be cooking smells... i just didn't know where else to ask this question, so i put it in the kitchen section.

Here are some more wonderful aromas that i LOVE!

- sage
- pine trees
- when the rain just starts to come down, that smell of the earth as it's getting wet, especially in the desert
- good, clean soil

I love the smell of butterscotch bars baking. And my apple pie...when it's baking, my husband will walk outside on the porch for a few minutes, just to come back inside and smell! And, any kind of roast (pork, beef) with veggies and wine. Makes the house smell like home!

I also love the smell of:
--fall leaves
--honeysuckle
--Mustella baby oil, shampoos, soaps and lotions (that's what my little one uses)
--lemon verbena
--garlic and onions sauteeing in olive oil

My sons head after a bath.

Almost any baked goodies.

Hot apple cider.

Sopa.

Oddly, that new plastic Barbie smell and playdough...sometimes glue and markers....I know they arent good for you.

I also seem to be addicted to the smell of a Vicks inhaler.

My most favorite smell, is wood smoke. Absolutely love it. In fact, on Sunday as we worked out in our garden and green house, we kept the campfire going all day into past dark. When we took a break, we sat by it, my husband and I. We both enjoy it so much. We start out in the early morning, with a fire and a pot of coffee. This is where we catch up on plans and the goings on. Only a week end thing though, as he works a full time job somewhere else. So relaxing on the week ends, for both of us.
Also, the smell of bread. I make stone baked sourdough bread to sell at the farmers market, and so on Thursdays and Fridays, the whole area around out home smells like a bakery. So hard not to want to take a bite out of them.

MMM-

I love fresh baking bread
Hamburger browning on the stove (but it has to be at least grass fed, the store bought CAFO stuff doesn't smell the same)
Fresh Sheets that have been in the linen closet a few days to get that really nice linen scent
Fresh Cut Grass
Clean horse
Baby scent :D

Sheri, wood smoke is fabulous! There used to be a small BBQ shop close to where we lived, and they had several large hickory smokers going every day... it was wonderful. Every time we passed by there we'd roll down our windows and just inhale that amazing smell.
