Yes, my energy level is really get up and go in the morning but I wax and wane in the late day but I'm like the energizer bunny after I've recharged my batteries. I don't feel old at 49 and I don't think I'll feel any different at 50 and beyond but the numbers are racking up, girls. It's just a number right?

Virginia,
I was also 42 when I had my third (the youngest) child. Maybe that topic could be a new thread. LOL

I'm 51 and have no problem with age. I notice my arms aren't quite long enough to read the fine print or thread the sewing machine anymore and if I put in too many hours working in the garden or other heavy labor I don't recover quite as quickly. Overall I'd say this paranoia about aging is ridiculous. Isn't it funny how our lives have been divided up into categories and treated like they were diseases? Let's see...adolescence (also known as the hormone crazies), Child bearing - which until my generation was treated with scopolomine so you would have amnesia about the delivery the theory being that it somehow "overwhelmed women's pshychie so they needed protection from the experience - and now of course the dreaded menopause....I personally think it's all bunk. What's wrong with just going along for the ride? I look at menopause as reverse adolescence - now I get to be a kid again. It's all a circle. Lets hitch up our skirts and jump into the dance. We get to create this gig as we go so let's create it our way.

Sheri, you got me laughing this morning, girl! You're so right...it's all a bunch of bunk being categorized by age and it's a full circle. We'll see that when someone is again changing our diaper someday.

I am 46. I remember as a child thinking someone 46 was soooo old--they just acted old, I guess! Right now, I don't feel much different than I did at 40, or even 35!

I'm 55 and feel better, happier, more sure of myself than I did at 25. Got a happy, healthy 92 year old mom and had a 101 year old great grandfather... hmmmm we live long in our family.

I'm 52. Just got back from our first Chapter meeting and we briefly talked about our ages. I would gladly give up these achy joints but other than that - there are a lot of good things about being 50+. So far, the best is being a grandma!

I am 60 years old. It just doesn't seem to signify, I feel just as silly as I ever was. I have two kids, who are 25 and 22. They enrich my life so much and finding this forum has been magic for me. So many interesting women and so many stories and things to look at. I wioll be 61 in July. Hmm.

Is it really as great as you all say? I know that it is just "bunk" worrying over getting older, but lemme tell you wiht this birthday it puts me 2 years from turning 30 and for whatever reason my brain just doesn't want to recognize that as an age that I want to be. Maybe its an early midlife crisis or something. Of course, I plan on living to 110 so its still no wheres near mid life but still....lol hugs

Hey all, I like to kid with Jessie about when she turns 30, I'll still be in my 40's. 49 but it's still my forties right? You very well could live to be 110 since there is longevity in our family. I had a great uncle who lived to be 105. mom to crshelpmeet :)

Jessie - its just like turning 29 or 25 or 50. It's just another day unless you make it into something else. Half the time I have to stop and do the math when asked how old I am. It's what you tell yourself and believe about it that makes it something at all. Tell yourself congrats! made it another year ain't it grand? I've found that the further from my 20's I get, the more I liked myself and my life. Just another chapter, a fresh page. Don't take it so to heart.

I don't like when people ask my age. I need to get more used to just saying no instead of trying to be nice and telling them. It's just a number. It has no special relevance to me. When I'm getting to know someone, or they are getting to know me, I'd rather answer more meaningful questions. But that's just my take on it. I prefer to ask people what their interests are, or what their most meaningful accomplishments are (always leads to fun conversations about their kids). If we're as old as we feel, some days I'm 100, some days I'm 8. Old as we think? As we act? Same numbers. I'm me. I'm not a number and neither are you to me. I refuse to label by numbers.
We make a difference. http://huckleberrywine.blogspot.com |

I feel 19 years old when I get out of bed in the morning if I don't look in the mirror, at noon I have aged to 40 and by 7pm my old achy body is telling me I am 57 but by bed, I'm 89 going on a 100 and my body is telling me, "you are 57 years old and I wish you would get up and act like it." I think I stopped aging when I learned to love myself and just enjoy my life and gave my life over to Jesus. The first 30 years was spent working and making as much money as I could to buy all those material things that went out of style, wore out, or gave me a status symbol.

I'm never bothered by telling my age, it is what it is. I'll be 57 this May 3rd and for the first time in my life I've decided to go gray. I've been coloring my hair since my 20's and I feel it's time to stop. I'm am now going gray "gracefully"...whatever that means.
