Hi Everyone!! Our landlord is coming over soon and I am still at the library! DH should be there to handle it....my kitchen sink was backed up for almost two weeks before we could get a plumber out and when we did we were told the back yard needed to be dug up! The pipes at the house were replaced before we moved in but the one in the yard is clogged BAD! Well, they can do what they have to but they can't touch my garden!!! The pipe in down the center of the yard and my garden is off to the side!! I stressed this to DH this weekend and now just waiting to hear whats gonna happen!! Yuck!
The weather is humid today and mid 80's but not so unbearable...last night I was reading on the porch in the lounge chair and had to get a blanket! It was wonderful but I felt a bit dorky...the kids were in the pool and I was cold!!!
Took my young hens out of the barn and put them in one section of the coop and the old hens are fit to be tied!! But they are so mean to the young ones! I have to change the pecking order so I think I will release one tomorrow and then another every couple of days. Does that sound right???
Rene I hope you dont melt out there!! Fall is just around the corner!!!

Hi All.....The rain has finally left the area....hope it moves on to some of you who trully need it! It was nice to be able to get outside and hang my clothes on the line today!! I missed that so much! It even dried out enough to pull some weeds in the garden...speaking of garden....O M G!! Our land lord spread something in his part of the garden that STINKS!! have any of you ever been unfortunate enough to smell a week old dead cow in the pasture in the heat of summer? I'm not trying to be gross or graphic, and I hope that it didn't offend anyone...but I remember the smell..our dairy neighbors used to drag the dead one to a section of gully just above our property...and it was pretty nasty...anyhow...I walked out into the garden this AM, and got a whiff of,....THAT smell!!!!
I looked around in every direction, but didn't see any dead cows...LOL....but as I was weeding my tomato patch I heard this noise....zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!! ZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!! So I looked around, stood up, and noticed a bunch of clumpy dark colored stuff was spread around in "his" part of the garden....but it was NOT compost!!!
So I pulled my shirt up over my nose to go over and take a closer look....and OMG....flies EVERYWHERE!!!!!! I honest to goodness have never seen flies like that before....and of course maggots!!!! I was so grossed out, and couldn't figure out what this stuff was, that I had to LITERALLY leave the garden!!
As I walked throught the gate, there were more flies.....and there sat the bucket "HE" had obviosly hauled this substance to the garden with.....brown black sludge COVERED in flies!!!
OK....from everything I've read about compost....and from my several years of composting, I have never had a compost smell like that, and the only time I've seen flies anywhere near my compost pile is when I pour old beans on it....
I am not sure but I have a feeling it may be human compost if ya'll know what I mean...FOR REAL!! Now, I know he is an older gentleman....but I never heard of my grandfather using human waste in his garden...other than the times he would urinate around the peremiter to allegedly keep the deer out....
Long story short....LMBO!!! I guess there is no such thing as a short story with me....and I know that If Dawn is reading this, that she probably was saying those exact words to herself as she read that line!!!! LLLOOOLLL!! ok...bak to subject....LSS>>>I unfortunately won't be spending much time in my half of the garden until the smell subsides, because I seriously can't stomach it!!!
Marcy - I hope they don't get anywhere near your garden...and I hope they get it fixed for you!!
Teresa Sue- I can't remeber, but I'm 99% sure I told you to sign me up right?
Dawn - sounds like you had a good weekend!! My 10 year was last year, and I refused to go...lol
Ruth - I REALLY like the "new" room!!!! I bet your dd does too!!!

Kelley~OMG!! That is awful. I think I would have run for cover with all those flies around. I just hate flies. They gross me out.
Thanks for the sweet comments. I am so happy with how it came out and she really needed a change.

HAHA! I concur. There is no such animal as a short story with Kelley. We get on the phone and 2 hours later..... and then we call eachother back and....2 hours later..... "quick" is not an option! You know I love you Kell!
I am so tired of beans and cabbge that I can't see straight. Everything in the garden is coming on so fast. I've been putting the fruits in the freezer until I have time to can, but trying to juggle everything else. I mean, I've eaten so my cabbge it ain't even funny. One thing for sure, my bowels have been right on spot lately! 3 cabbage meals and 6 bottles of Beano later..... hahaha... Jerry and I cna't even sleep in the same room as eachother as we keep fighting over who's gonna pull the sheets over who's head! LMBO! I knew ya'll wnated to hear that!
Juney-poo's computer has been on the blink so she's not been around much. She got the CUTEST vintage camper a couple of weeks ago. It's got fins on the back of it! Jerry and I went to the campgrounds to have dinner with her and her family Sat. night. lets just say don't leave June and I alone with Glo-Sticks. Remember the part of WHO'S LINE IS IT ANYWAY? where Drew Carey would give the comics a prop and they had to come up with as many props as possible? Well, June and I have that topped when it comes to Glo Sticks!
Okay girls, I need to get up to the sewing room and make some aprons... TS, NOW YOU TELL ME IT HAS TO BE IN XMAS FABRIC! I don't have any.... so I need to go get some..... darn! Have to go to the fabric store....

Sorry, but I really don't even understand why harmonyfarm would comment on the thread...there have been plenty of threads on here that I didn't exactly "care for" the content of...but if that is the case, I leave the thread without commenting and go on my merry way
I have never been offended on this forum like she offended me....*sigh* oh well....

"pulled a Dawn"....nice! It'll all blow over in a few. If there's one thing I've learned is....well, I can't say I've learned anything really. LOL! I am who I am.
Not sure what I'm getting into today but one thing I know it's gonna be upstairs in the studio...aka the princess bedroom. I still have a box to mail to Kelley and I need to get started on stuff for upcoming craft shows. I already made about 10 bags of home made laundry soap. I put them in paper lunch bags with a clothespin clip. they are kinda cute. I'm sure June could've done a better job with them. She has so much talent it's amazing. I bought a doll pattern. That sucker is 35" tall! No crap! What was I thinking? Lora and Gang will be here tomorrow so I really need to get a move on here. Not cleaning up much, just the visual dirt. Keep yer skirts down ladies!

Hello maven friends!!
I really should be cleaning and cooking but I had to get on here and say hello to everyone. I miss chatting with you.
I have been trying to work on somethings that maybe I could sell at a craft show. The only thing is I don't know how to sign up for these craft shows. I don't want to make a ton of things if I can't get a table for them. I was hoping to make some fun Christmas stuff and start looking for the shows. I just don't know where to begin. That's what's been keeping me busy.
I have also started working on our homeschool schedule for this year. We will start in another week. We will be going on a small trip from Sept 7-11 so we need to get some days of school in before that. The great thing about homeschooling is that you can take days off when ever you need to and make them up later.
It has been a busy summer with the work we've been doing on the house. I think we will be wrapping up most of it this week while hubby is on vacation from work. He doesn't have to go back until next Thursday. I had hoped to do some work on the kitchen but that didn't happen. No money right now. I hope to get to it next year for sure. Until then I will just make the best of it.
How is everyone here?
I think of you all the time, especially when I'm in my garden.
I have to go do some cleaning and laundry now. Too bad that maid never shows up~LOL!

Hi Mavens, It is pouring down rain and thunder and lightning outside all day today so decided to work on my mini aprons for the swap. Boy, this is tougher than I thought. Use to make small barbie clothes when I was younger, but doing so today is a bit harder with my hands. Of course I had to try the hardest one in the patterns first. Needless to say all the rest will be much simpler. Just in case you see a little glue on them, you'll know why. lol I promise not to make too big of a mess. Hope everyone elses day is warmer and dryer. Not that we don't need the rain, but it was only 48 most of the morning. yuk!

Hi All! Well, the kitchen drain will take limited amounts of water and now we are in need of estimates for the landlord. The plumbers we had out said to put a 50gal trash barrel in the cellar put a pump in it and after routing all the drains into it send it to the septic!!! Can you imagine??? Oh they are not coming back..NO SIREEE!! So we are looking for better plumbers!!
It hasnt rained here much and need it so bad! But I took a skip day from work to spend with ds its his last weekend here for the summer and we are off to the candy store in Shipshe!!!
Have a great day!

Morning Maves! I had a busy weekend....Got a good deal at Hancock Fabrics Saturday!!! Patterns 5 for $5...vintage cherry apron panel for $2 and an AWESOME new pair of fabric scissors for 40% off!! Almost bought a digital camera, but new tires for my vehicle were top priority...lol...
Made a Chocolate Cobbler yesterday for Sunday dinner dessert...but it turned out very "soupy"....the recipe came off of the thread I started under Farm Kitchen....and I believe the farmgirl who submitted the recipe got it off the internet, because when I googled the recipe, I found one identical to the one I made....so...I'll either attempt to modify it...or just not ever make it again....but besides the soupyness...the taste was FABU!!
Marcy...so sorry to hear about your plumbing issues!!
Gail...hope your weather perks up soon!! Ok...I'll know who made the aprons with the glue when I get them...Gail and Dawn....ROFL!!!! But Seriously..."OK To Wash It" Fabric Glue is a life SAVER!!! You can get it at any fabric store, or wal-fart...lol I love the stuff!
Ruth..You sound SOOOOO busy these days...I'm 99% sure I want to homeschool Emily and Sadler, I just don't know where to start....some other farmgirls have told me what program they use, yet I know everyone is different....there are so many options...what do you use and how did you decide???
Dawn....Hope you and Lora had a great weekend! How was the trip to the Zoo?? Those dolls sound HUGE....gonna make them for craft fairs? I bet they'll turn out soooo cute! I'm still working on your box to mail to ya...but I think the one thing that I'm trying to finish making to go in it can wait until our trip...or you'll never get the box.....lol
ok...need to get back to a couple of chores...it's 10:30 am...and I have already tackled soooooo much!!!! Yay me....I'll be able to have a light, playful afternoon!!!
