I wanted to pop in and just share a gorgeous poem I just discovered about letters, perhaps you all know of it already.
Write to me a letter
etched by Sunday morning
sunlight,
centered in a room where
returning robins sing
of the sea-swung
palms and beaches.
Your chosen words
will glint beyond
their stony use and point
to the history we sense in night, that lore
drunk on nocturnal
breezes (the polyphony of sleep)
when cricket chords mesmerize
wall shadows stretched
tight from your feet
until they forget to be faithful to your body.
When your letter arrives,
I will memorize your words, rendering
your syntax so finely all will be forgotten except
your dancing beyond the ink-stains,
a game of pretend really,
as if you were always
in this room.

I'm writing this week.
Wedding was Saturday and beautiful.
Then I learn oldest daughter is letting me join the Grandma Club ( May 2010)
So needless to say I have been dancing around for a few days now.
But I'm writing this week

I would love a pen-pal, is it still okay to join?
I am Karrieann and will be 50 years old in Feb.
I live (currently) in Northeast Georgia area but my heart is in Washington (state).
Some day, we (hubby and I, beagle too) will move back. My granddaughters are there. They are almost 3 years old and a 6 month old!
I do not farm but is country girl at heart. I was born and raised in a town called Honeoye, NY.
Then at age 19, enlisted into the United State Coast Guard for four years.
I sew, crochet, sew, basket-weave, sew... and love BEAGLES!
If anyone is interested in being my pen-pal... I would like to give this a go!

Toni, Jennifer, I got your letters yesterday. I know I am behindhand on letters, y'all. Been spending a lot of time marathon chatting with my aunt in California, the one I hadn't talked to since I was a little girl. Trying to make up for 33 years of lost time, I suppose. She is in England until the end of the month and I plan to get everything caught up soon.
