I've decided to let my house go and told the stb ex to go ahead and sell it as I'm tired of him using it as a weapon to control me. So, now I'll be starting over from scratch. Which has me thinking it's really not that bad since I'd been wanting more property so I can have animals, anyway.

So, now I'm finally dreaming...chickens, miniature Jersey, maybe some angora goats, too. I just want a small cabin or cottage with two bedrooms so I can put my kids up when they come to visit and a sewing/craft room. Small, so I don't have to spend a lot of time cleaning (I have much better things I'd rather be doing) and have enough room to plant EVERYTHING I want. A large greenhouse, like the one MaryJane shows how to build but with several more panels to make it longer...

I'm looking already. I'm not ready to buy yet, but I have to keep my eyes and ears peeled around here as the good deals tend to go fast. I still want to be within walking distance of town so I don't have to spend a ton of money on gas and vehicle maintenance. Besides, I don't even have a vehicle, yet.

I am so excited over all the new prospects and possible opportunities in front of me. I can hardly wait to get started!

Good for you!!! As women we seldom get the chance to start over when we finally know what we want to do. Go for it. Have you thought of renting for a while? Sometimes that gives you time to really look around, You can always move the animals, or transplant an important rose bush. You can do anything you want to do now. God Bless you.

Be good to yourself and be good to this earth.

I am going be renting for a while as the stb ex is still living in our house (it was far easier to leave than to try to make him leave). Renting for a while is fine with me while I look. I don't want to rush into anything because I want to make sure I get what I really want. It's getting a bit late in life to get into anything that I'm not going to be totally happy with, even if it requires serious work on my part. I'm still 20 years from retirement, so I still have a good chance of having it paid off by the time I retire. Which is a very important goal for me.

Congrats! I can definitely relate to what you are saying and feeling. I let my ex buy me out, mainly because I had no desire to stay in Tucson. I am buying where I am currently at, although it is not exactly what I had in mind (can't have all the animals I want), it is still mine and I can have my garden and chickens. I still have hopes of getting my acre but that is not where my life is at this moment. Have fun finding your new place!

Good for you, Lisa. Sounds like you've got a plan. I love the cabin idea, and the animals, too. Have fun planning this next chapter in your life. I wish you lots of peace and happiness as you go forward.

Lisa Marie, you are a brave girl! You can do it. My dad has a motto "If you want something, ask everyone you meet, eventually you will get what you want". I do this added with a lot of prayer.
I prayed for you to find what you are looking for.
I think we need to start a new motto here:
A FARMGIRL CAN DO ANYTHING!!

I like it. I'm going to start using it, you can too!

I like it, too, Cindy! We farmgirls CAN do anything! And, Laura, that's why dd and I decided it best to let the house go. Too many memories that we didn't want so, this is a good thing in more ways than one!

GO GIRL !!!!! Lisa I don't know your sisuationbut from the huge weight that was lifted off your shoulders that was the right way to go. I will send lots of prayers for you! If you need anything to start over with let me know. I will do the best to help. When I left my dirt bag of a husband I had lots of people offer to help me, I was at the stage of embaressment, but now I wish that I had let them help me. So hugs and prayers.

Tina, I appreciate the offer, but I really have everything I need at the moment. I got a lot of help from all my friends here who wouldn't take no for an answer! I have a roof over my head, my dog, enough furniture, clothes and dishes to be comfortable and a decent job to hold it all together. I'm feeling really confident that I will find what I want/need. The really important part is that I'm happy and I have dreams and goals again. Dreams that I can work toward and fulfill without dragging someone kicking and screaming behind me (literally!).

I'm so looking forward to building new gardens and having my own little mini-farm and building (if necessary) and decorating my new home the way I want without a lot unnecessary and useless "stuff" that has to be cleaned, dusted, moved around, etc. No matter how much work it takes to get there, it'll still be fun!

I sure appreciate all the encouragement and hugs back to all of you!

I started over 10 years ago with three kids, 5, 3 and not born yet, and even when times were tough it was better than what it was. It took about five years to get to where I wanted to be, working, owning my own home, and back on my feet. It was worth every moment.
Good Luck to you.

Whoa!!! He just slammed on the brakes and I think I smacked my head! Mediation was today and it did not quite go the way I had thought/hoped. I'll have to post the rest over in Family Matters as it pertains more to that than farm dreaming.
