Yay! I just got my grades!!! I passed all my classes as well! I got a 3.8 in Spanish Lit., a 3.5 in Espana Contemporanea (Contemporary Spain), and a 2.8 in my real toughie class BioPsych!!!! I was hoping for a 2.5 in BioPsych so I am sooooo happy I got above what I was expecting. It was the hardest (and most not fun) class I have ever taken.

Awesome job ladies! Is everyone gearing up for the next semester? I am enrolled in Accounting, Microeconomics, Ethics, Business Law and Finite Math! PHEW! It is going to be a heavy semester but I am trying to get my graduation date moved up.

Okay, classes start next Tuesday and I am having difficulties getting geared up for them! I still have a long way to go, I'm not even half way through school. I'm looking at Anatomy & Physiology, College Algebra, Macroeconomics, Financial Accounting, and Nonficition writing. And to top it off, I still don't know if I have a job, which isn't very reassuring because I do have bills. I have cut all expenses down to the bare essentials, but that still doesn't help any if nothing is coming in. I know I have things covered up through the end of Feb, but it's anybodies guess after that. I really enjoy the contract work I have been doing, but if they don't send me any offers, I can't accept! There are so many companies laying people off here in the valley that competition is fierce for what jobs there are. Hmmmm, think I'll go crochet another scarf...
Thanks for letting me unload!

School starts tomorrow (1/13). I have colege algebra, drawing 2, contemporary art & design, art appreciation & art & religion. Won't be too bad except for college algebra, I dropped it last semester and this is my last chance...no pass, no graduation in May. Any tips? |

Welcome to the college girls, Sherrone!!
Connie- I know it sounds silly- but with college algebra- make sure you read the book! It really does help some of the concepts sink in. Also if you run into problems be sure to contact your professor or help lab. Last resort- email me. Between Doug and I we might be able to help you!
Well I know college is starting on Wednesday because I had to pay $740 for books today! *Gasp* I was really hoping to get some deals but TWO of my classes had over 5 books required! Sheesh! And I bet we don't even really use them! The really irritating thing? I am probably going to need to keep at least 3 if not 4 of the classes worth of books. I probably don't need to keep Ethics. I figure I am pretty good there without needing to refer to a book!

I am truly very lucky to go to a school that has book rental. All we have to do is pay $160.00 per semester and we get all the books we need with the exception of workbooks and paperbacks for literature etc. This gives us the opportunity to buy online the books we want to keep or need for our career. Between half.com, amazon.com & other online sources you have all the time you need to get a good deal. Book rental has saved me thousands of dollars. |

I have 2 weeks to find cheaper books, but this way I have them for the start of school. www.chegg.com also rents books, but this semester is one of those where I really should keep almost all the text books. I am not quite sure why Econ had me buy so many "filler" books. blarg.

<timidly raising my hand> Hey, Alee, can I, (pretty please), join Connie, (with cream and sugar on it) in the offer on the math. I always did so well in high school and this will be my third and final attempt at the math. It has been very frustrating. I will be taking this semester with my old high school math teacher (hope he doesn't mind, lol). I have to pass it to be able to go on, especially since it is a prereq for some of my other classes. Guess that is bothering me more than I want to admit.

Of Course Mary!!
Wanna know a secret? This math class that I just passed? It was my third and final attempt too! I think one of the reasons I passed was because I KNEW it was my final attempt! I HAD to pass! So I totally know how that feels! But I also know that you both can do it!
There are some really awesome resources on the web too, one of the ones I like is "DreamCalc" it is a scientific calculator that you can download for free onto your computer. It is a bit annoying because it has one of those "Please buy this program" delays built into it when you start it and every so often when you are using it, but it is nice to have downloaded so if you lose your calculator- you have one on the computer that does all the functions and everything.

Jumping in to join the group...
I'm a senior in college, hoping to graduate in May if the Dean approves an extra class for me. If she does, I'll be taking 21 credits (7 courses). I'm majoring in Psychology and attending Tennessee Temple University through the Distance Education program (all classes are online). I plan to get my alternate teaching certificate for Florida and hope to get a teaching position for next school year. I'm normally an instructional assistant, but the day before my first semester back in college (last January) I found out I was pregnant. I worked full-time last Spring while dealing with morning sickness and early joint pain, along with a very sick 13 year-old son. I've been on educational leave this school year while I finish my degree and stay home with my 4 month old little guy. I ended up having a c-section in September, so that threw my Fall semester off a bit. I'm hoping that this semester will be VERY uneventful compared to the past three (I also took a full load during the Summer)!!!
My classes technically started on Monday, but I'm still waiting for books...and my first assignments are due on Friday! ACK!

Yikes Katee! Have you looked into IChapters? They have a lot of books and you can buy each chapter or the whole book as an e-book. Instant download!
My professors sure want to hit this semester off with a bang! Yikes! I have already taken a math test!!

I'm starting college in April! Medical Office Technology. Since I'm on unemployment I can get worker retraining through the state. I've been wanting to do this for a long time so I'm going to go for it! I so badly wanted to go to college right out of high school but I had a new baby and I worked to put my husband through. The years passed, I worked, and just never went to college. So at 56 I'm finally starting!
