I love white vinegar in the laundry to get rid of the "man smell" - we have two teen-age boys and husband - you know what I mean!! but it doesn't make everything smell all flowery like fabric softener. So everyone is happy. Plus it is CHEAP especially if you buy the two gallon pack at Costco. Sue in Richland WA |

I buy white vinegar by the gallons. I use it to clean practically everything in my house!

You can add a few drops of your favorite essential oil to the vinegar you put the rinse dispenser in your washer. Leaves a faint scent in your clothes even you line dry. Delicious!

I always heard that you need to clean your dishwasher with 1 cup of vinegar and running it through a regular wash cycle. I read that you put it in a cup on the top rack. How can that actually help clean the dishwasher? I hate to sound stupid, but does it clean as it overflows from water added when the spraying of water begins? Rinse aid dispenser??? I'm not sure I have one on my dishwasher.

How much vinegar do you add in your rinse for laundry? Thanks. Jill |

When I started using vinegar in my rinse dispenser in the washer, not only were my clothes free of any residue, my washer started to "degunk". Large clods of old softener and detergent that had stuck in the innards of the machine would work themselves loose and could be picked out at the end of the load. I think its got to be better for the machinery!

It really is a miracle cleaner and we like it too in place of fabric softener...

I used to use vinegar in every diaper wash when I had hard water, works better than Calgon and so much safer and cheaper!

I'm a vinegar user, too. Like Sue, I like how it helps with odors. I notice a difference when hanging clothes outside to dry. A soil scientist told me once that liquid fabric softeners and septic tanks don't mix. So, it's always been either vinegar or the fabric sheets here.

I use vinegar and baking soda to clean almost everything (and occasionally borax). It's truly a do it all miracle product. |

Love it!! I have started using it.
My sheets and clothes seem softer and smell clean. The only problem that I have found so far is when I washed my daughter's fleece blankets, they were full of static.
Plus it is so much cheaper and the clothes dry faster and the lint screen is less full.

Love vinegar! I infuse all sorts of herbs in mine. like lavender, mints, eucalyptus, thyme, sweet annie...today i made a quart of orange mint and lemon balm since i have so much of it in the garden! So i get the cleaning of vinegar and the smell and actions of the herbs. easy and so very farmgirl thrifty |

As soon as my commercial fab softener runs out, I'm going to start using vinegar. I will be adding essential oils to mine for a light scent. Having a Sam's Club membership, I can get a 2-gallon pack for $3.38! Soooo much cheaper than fab softener! Better for the clothes & environment too.

I have an h.e. washer. I just put it right into the fab soft dispenser on the washer. I think the only thing that needs to be h.e. is the laundry soap because it needs to be low sudsing. When I start making my own laundry detergent, I'll probably put it right on the clothes before washing...just in case. I've heard that homemade l.s. is fairly low sudsing anyway but don't want to take my chances of putting it into the washer's soap dispenser. Hope this helps. :)

I have an HE & I use homemade & vinegar as a rinse. Homemade sudsing is very low. There is no reason to purchase the HE stuff; I have never had a problem. |

Distilled White Vinegar is the BEST for all sorts of cleaning too. I buy it in bulk and use it to clean everything!
TIP: Renew sponges and dishrags by placing them in just enough water to cover them. Then add 1/4 cup white distilled vinegar. Let them soak overnight.
