my mom, Joyce, she was so brave, she lost my dad when I was 8 years old, she never lost her since of humor. The entire town came to her funeral when she died in a car accident when I had just turned 21. I can still hear her laughter, no one loved life as much as my mom.
I had a pet crow as a child that had broken its leg so he lived in our living room through the winter in a cage. My mom, Joyce, would walk out into that room and caw as loudly as the crow. My mom, the lunatic, geez, she was such a hoot.

Well now that i am up and enjoying looking at all the wonderful new Treasures you found! .....
I too love old books and always look for them when I'm browsing in the antique shops. My MOST cherished are some wonderful old books from when my Mother was a very young girl! All with little somethings written to her inside the covers! I AM going to do better with posting photos!....Lordy! I am a very Visual person and love looking at photos so I gotta learn to do better at POSTING them quickly!!!....tomorrow I will try to get some photos up of these lovely old books and the place they live in my home!

Poor Baby, hope she is feeling better real soon. She has way to many new things to play with to be sick!
I see that idea of cutting back on collecting is going real smooth.HA. You got yourself some really nice things. Your outdoor living space is really coming along nice. I think that green color will be perfect. Can't wait to see what you end up putting out there. I love older books too.

oh my goodness gurlfrenz .. gonna' need lotsa prayers here ... my doc just called to say that i have 'thyroid cancer' .. such a SCARY word! i have to have it removed. she tells me not to be scared .. that i will be just fine once it is gone. but of course, i am scared and worried. but i surely will appreciate all your prayers.

Frannie- My prayers are with you. May God give you peace and may He give your doctors wisdom and insight so that you may be healed completely. GURLZ ... i am so hoping and praying that my thyroid surgery won't affect the date of our gathering .. i won't know until after i speak to my doctor and know WHEN it is scheduled .. and the 'recovery time' i will need. i will surely keep you all informed!

Frannie - I have heard that thyroid cancer is the easiest of all to "get out" and is highly successful. Some folks have even said, if you have to have cancer, that is the best form to have. You will be okay, but we need to pray for your fear....I would be afraid too!!! Who wouldn't? So I pray that you feel a profound sense of peace about this and that the surgeons and nurses are the best and feel God's spirit, too. All will be well.

Frannie, many people I know were "downwinders" from Hanford in Oregon and have popped up with thyroid cancer including my sister. I am regularly screened for it as well...... it will all be well. I take care of two or three people a day that have it removed. With your cheerful, goodness, you will be clean as a whistle in no time and healing done. Surgery is scary, I know, but our hands will be on yours through this. Much love and good will dear Frannie!

pleeeeeeze keep those prayers goin' heavenward ..
the nurse from my doc's office called with my appointment date to see the surgeon..
i am a 'teeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeensy' bit less scared now.
oh .. it's difinitely there and has to come OUT .. but dr. self's nurse (dr. self is my endocrinologist who takes care of both my diabetes and thyroid .. a wonderful woman and doctor .. very CALMING!) ... well, Sharon, dr. self's nurse told me that Dr. Self told her this morning that she really does not feel this is a 'big deal' .. it is very tiny. but she does want me to see a surgeon for the next step. she and dr. Williams will decide what to do next.
anyhoo .. i have an appointment with the surgeon at Jewish Hostpital in Louisville next Wednesday (24th at 11:20). they are faxing my test results to him .. and he and i will talk about the 'next step'.
at that time .. i will know more as to whether or not our October 11/12 Gurlfren Gathering can go on as planned .. or has to be re-scheduled for SPRINGTIME. i am, of course, hoping i'll be fit as a fiddle by then.
thanks from the fullness of my heart for all the sweet calls and e-mails sending your love, encouragement, hope, peace, PRAYERS! GOSH! i even got a call this morning from a friend in SCOTLAND who is on my 'true friends' list .. giving me love and encouragement.
keep the encouragement comin' gurlfrenz. HA! help me get through this with what little mind i do have left! and oh my .. those PRAYERS .. are so important to me!
OH! Sharon said doctor self wants me to stay OFF the internet researching it too!!!
ohhhh .. did i ever tell ya'll the story of years ago .. i used to watch all those 'doctor TV shows' .. we're talking a LONG time ago! (Dr. Kildare-era!)
Well, i watched an episode one evening .. and my doc's phone was ringing off the hook before he even came into his office .. YEP! it was ME calling.
i related to him that i had watched a tv show the night before .. .and i had ALL the sypmptoms .. and i was just POSTIVE that i had 'prostrate cancer'!
HE prescribed for me: NO MORE DOCTOR TV SHOWS!!!

i finished reading the book: BLACK LIKE ME .. it was a 'thriller' that had me turning the pages to get to what was going to happen next. i'll bring the book up and read the 'jacket cover' to ya'll in case you think it might be a book you'd find interesting.
NOW ... i gotta' wrap up some dollies and birthday gifts for our GREAT grandson .. who turns TWO on Sunday ... then head for town to ge me some MUMS! xo

Frannie I was reading about all your great stories and looking at all of your wonderful cherished photos. Then BAM! It was like a ton of bricks when I read you cancer post. I trust that you will be fine through this ordeal. You have way to much sharin' left to do with all you sisters here and your beautiful family. I will hold you in my thoughts and prayers for a swift recovery and the freedom from fear.
