good thursday morning gurlz! ohhhhhhhhhh .. the excitement swells like the belly of a pregnant whale! as ANNIE so beautifully sings: TOMORROW! TOMORROW!

honey hunk took off about an hour ago .. and i've been 'playin' ... pushin' and shovin' stuff around .. giving the rooms a light fluff and puff .. gonna' go iron up my clothes for the gathering .. so i don't have to be tearing my closet apart lookin' for this 'n that!

i'm waiting for the first rays of sunshine .. to go to the tree house and do a little 'readin' and coffee-sippin'!

have a couple more little 'jewels' to share from my "law of attraction" book:

"Our thoughts can lift us to joyful heights or cause us to sink in the depths of despair. When we think POSITIVELY, we bring or attract positive situations and people. But when we focus on the NEGATIVE aspects of our life, we attract more negativity. Our thoughts are often charged with positive or negative emotion and are rarely neutral."

SOOOOOOOO .. THINK about what you THINK!! (ha! that quote is MINE!)

love this thought:

"If you want more goodness in your life, be good and be grateful. Feel joy and peace and happiness. Spread it out into the universe as your gift to others. Keep your mind clean from clutter, worry and fear. Don't give mental energy to negative thinking. Just let it go!!! Focus on the positive to draw more of that into your life.

good morning sweetie-pies! jus' had to 'show and tell' this cute little 'autumn' tree i got from friend pamela from her cute little shoppe .. . Behind Thyme (in Campbellsville)

it's a big orange branch .. filled with bittersweet that she picked alongside the road! OH WHERE is that ROAD???
i had hoped to put it on the big table on the back porch .. but i put it there last night .. and those cute little 'ornaments' started getting 'soft' .. i think they must be some sort of a bread/salt dough ... soooooo .. i found a little corner in the kitchen for it! (it was waaaaaaaaay too tall for the kitchen table!) isn't it CUTE!!! (well .. primitive cute anyhoo!)

these are the little ornaments ... 'candy corn'

and two styles of pumpkins

of course, i had to put in some 'resident BLACKBIRDS'!!

Beautiful Bittersweet!

put this little 'quiltie skirt and gourds around it.

================

remember i told ya'll about a little 'golden prayer box' i had read about .. and that i wanted one of my own! i rescued this little (primitive golden ... "mustard shade" box from the 'goodwill pile' ..
it has held everything from candie to doggie treats .. and now it will hold all my prayers!
actually .. it will be my PRAYER and GRATITUDE box!

if you would like for me to add prayers in there for YOU and your loved ones .. jus' let
me know .. and i'll surely do so!

OHHHH! i actually went to pamela's to get a big wooden folk-arty MOON and STARS ..
i forgot to take a pic of it .. (i got it for the Tree House) ... next time i amble down there .. i'll be sure to photo it and send it along.

well .. back to sweepin' crumbs under the 'scatter rugs'! have a grande day! xoxo

When I was little,
I used to believe in the concept of one best friend,
And then I started to become a woman.
And then I found out that if you allow your heart to open up,
God would show you the best in many friends.

One friend is needed when you're going through things with your man.
Another friend is needed when you're going through things with your mom.
Another will sit beside you in the bleachers as you delight in your children
and their activities.
Another when you want to shop, share, heal, hurt, joke, or just be.
One friend will say, 'Let's cry together,'
Another , 'Let's fight together,'
Another , 'Let's walk away together.'

One friend will meet your spiritual need,
Another your shoe fetish,
Another your love for movies,
Another will be with you in your season of confusion,
Another will be your clarifier,
Another the wind beneath your wings.

But whatever their assignment in your life,
On whatever the occasion,
On whatever the day,
Or wherever you need them to meet you with their gym shoes on and hair
pulled back,
Or to hold you back from making a complete fool of yourself ..
Those are your best friends.

It may all be wrapped up in one woman, But for many, it's wrapped up in
several..
One from 7th grade,
One from high school,
Several from the college years,
a couple from old jobs,
On some days your mother,
On some days your neighbor,
On others, your sisters,
And on some days, your daughters.

These are your True Friends on your journey through life.

=====================

Share this with the women that God has placed in your life
To make a difference.

oh gurlz .. jus' wanted to let ya'll know .. that i'm doin' jus' fine with my 'thyroid thingie' ... i put a call in to my endocrinologist .. jus' to give me a quick call back so i could hear her 'comforting voice' ...

she is TERRIFIC .. if you live in Kentucky and if you EVER have diabetes or thyroid problems .. do give Dr. Mary Self in Louisville a call and let her be YOUR doctor!

anyhoo .. she told me i am going to be 'just fine' .. (as you ALL have promised me .. and i believe profoundly!)

she told me that mine is very small and that bout 8% of people actually have very small micro thyroid cancers in their lifetime .. (mine is a teensie 'tad' larger than that) .. she said she would not even have done the 'aspiration' .. but for tiny 'calcium' she saw in it! she also said what another doctor told me .. "you may have had this for MANY years .. or even ALL YOUR LIFE". '

STILL .. now that we know it is in there .. it needs to COME OUT!

Mostly, she was telling me to make sure that the hospital knows to NOT take my pump out during my operation .. and that i need to control my sugars (oh lordy! i guess i gotta' NOT eat tons of cookies this 'gathering weekend'!!!) She said i will heal fine .. just control my sugars! She told me that she sent my surgeon a letter telling him i am Type One Diabetic.

She said she sees these in her office quite often and everyone has always been fine. (she assured me that SHE has never known anyone to DIE of this type EVER in her 20 years of practice! (from her lips to god's ear!)

OH HAPPY DAY! (do keep those prayers going heavenward cuz' they are what keep us joyful!)
AND KNOW THAT I AM VERY GRATEFUL FOR ALL PRAYERS FROM YOU ... FOR ME!!!

and it's o.k. if you call them prayers, good thoughts, vibrations ... bottom line .. they are ALL good!

Well sweeties .. i'm sooooo excited! i pick up Betty Jo, Cyndi, Marty and Pat in a few hours from the airport .. big pizza party tonight .. cuz' Jeanne and Mary, Pat and Robin ... and Karin and sister Dayla ... all arrive in town today too .. and friend Pamela from Behind Thyme is going to join us too! anyone else reading this that can join us! COME ON DOWN!!!

AND OH MY!!! TOMORROW! TOMORROW! 'LET THE GATHERING BEGIN!'

for those of you who can't make it this time .. THINK SPRING .. we'll try and have another fun gathering!!! AND .. of course, you are ALL invited to come visit ANYTIME!

ain't life grande! xoxo

ya-ya's .... honey-man's plane was delayed .. he is due to land in nashville soon .. will be home about midnight .. sooo .. i'm hoppin' on-line for a few minutes .. then going to make a 'late night vigil' to the TREEHOUSE with a candle and cup of evening coffee (and a COWBOY COOKIE!!!) .. then snuggle in bed with my wonderful book: THE SHACK!!!! (will tell you all about it soon!) it was highly recommended to me by my very best childhood gurlfren, grace!

well, i delivered betty jo and the maryland dollie friends to the airport .. had about an hour and a half wait until my pre-op appointment .. soooooooo .. i drove to the furthermost 'cell phone' parking lot and read a couple chapters of my SHACK book. realized . .i only had about half an hour to get to my appointment .. went to turn the car key on .. and .... NUTHIN'!!!! the car key WAS in the 'on' position and the lights were on .. but the car was not running! yep! dead battery! well, i didn't get 'kerflumped' or anything .. jus' made some phone calls (my insurance company was sending someone .. when an airport security guy saw my hood up and came to rescue me ... BUT .. they are not ALLOWED to jump-start cars .. but a truck drove in and VOILA! they had jumper cables .. and started me right up! cancelled the insurance company 'jump-starter' .. and got to my appointment on time .. had blood tests, an EKG and a chest x-ray .. met some sweet hospital ladies .. and came home to the warmth and the powerful WOMAN energy that was still floating inside the cabin!

darling daughter, wednesday called to hear all about the weekend .. and when i started telling her about our 'circle of friendship' and 'gratitude rock HEART' .. i choked up and couldn't even talk i was so overwhelmed with heartfelt emotion! HA! she has seen me like this before .. and knew what was happening .. and 'gave me a moment' and talked to me of the grandchildren .. until i was able to speak again. THEN the same thing happened when hank called! YEP! he too, has seen me overcome with LOVE and unable to speak too! I can hardly wait until he comes home at midnight .. i will probably keep him up all night showing him photos and telling him stories.

i told hank that this weekend is what 'movies' and 'books' are made of. and yes, i will write of all of it .. when i can gather my feelings and not drown the keyboard in tears of happiness!

thank you precious, precious 'gurlfrenz' for the amazing amazing amazing weekend filled with love. xo, frannie

words simply cannot express the depths of my joy at our gurlfren gathering this weekend!

i will be writing stories and sharing photos soon ...

for those of you who were a part of this awesome weekend .. if you have any photos or stories to share of your time with us ... pleeeeeeeeeze send them along to me with your permission to share them with all our 'frenz'.

AND .. REMEMBER OUR PACT!!! 'no ugly pictures'!!!! (ha! we promised each other we'd look at each photo and if ANY of us don't look like glamerous movie stars in a photo .. we will tear it into a million pieces and burn it!

(we were concerned this might limit the 400 photos we each took down to two or three actual 'useable' ones though!)

share your giggles, your creativity, your laughter .. your tears .. anything you wish .. and oh do send me YOUR photos!

t'other friends who were not able to join us this time .. THINK SPRING! we might gather and all go to historic SHAKER TOWN come springtime! and yes! we will all stay at Freedom Valley Farm for more fun and frolic! (we'll wait for spring weather so that we can all 'camp-out' again!)

and i do hope that each and every one of you who were able to be a part of our weekend will come back in the spring too .. i'm already missing YOU!!!!

It was a blast. It was so nice to meet all of the gals that I have not met and get back with the ones from February. I will try and get my pics posted on my blog sometime soon (maybe not till next week tho). The dear Mayor in that apron was just priceless!

One other note....honey man Tim who saw the title of this post said that you should have a sign that says Frannieville, KY....

i 'copied' it here for you sweetie pie!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Frannie....

I had so much fun and I just wanted to send a little FYI to the gals in the area. Sonora, Kentucky has 3 barn quilts up as well..there are 2 on 84 going toward Hodgenville and one on 84 west toward White Mills (well actually it faces 84, and visible but on a side road)

Sonora now has a couple Antique Stores downtown on 84, as well as Claudia's Tea Room, a very quaint cafe known as Brook's General Store (open Mon-Fri. 8am.-4pm.) and my all time favorite Jaxsoaps, owned by Jacque Morton (Alchemist and Chandler) www.Jaxsoaps.2ya.com. She does the most wonderful Cold Kettle Herbal Soaps and Candles.

Sorry if this sounds like an advertisement for Sonora..but lots folks know about the Glendale Area and few know about Merchants trying to revive Sonora.

So if any of you gals wonder this way, please let me know and we can have pie and coffee.

Friday afternoon .. our Gurlfren Gatherin' in Kentucky begins ... at the Louisville Airport .. where i picked up Betty Jo, Marty, Pat and Cyndi .. we hugged and laughed and giggled and caught up on our lives all the way to Freedom Valley. i forgot to take my camera into the airport ..

sooo .. our trip photos start with ABRAHAM LINCOLN'S CHILDHOOD CABIN ... it is amazing to believe that our incredible Sixteenth President of the United States lived in this tiny little home with his mother, father and sister Sarah when he was just a 'wee lad'.

both his BIRTH cabin and early CHILDHOOD cabin sit proudly in Kentucky!

this is the 'creekbed' where Abraham Lincoln almost lost his life
.. but a childhood friend saved him from drowning.

our darling Betty Jo on the left. She and her honey-man
once stopped by Freedom Valley on their motorcycles while
on a 'southern' journey .. it is quite a wonderful story of how
Betty Jo was 'led' to return for our gathering.
Marty and Cyndi .. two of my precious Maryland Friends. We
were like the 'three muskateers'! OHHHH the fun stories we have lived! (pat had wandered off to the 'loo'!)

the breath-taking view across the road from Lincoln's Boyhood home.

stopped for gasoline in Buffalo, KY .. and this AWESOME tree in
an orange blaze of glory drew Cyndi to it! we teased her that 'here in Kentucky .. you get SHOT for trespassing!!'

as ALWAYS .. in a 'small town' .. you run into friends absolutely everywhere you go!
Sweet Linda .. who by the way .. makes the YUMMIEST candles you can buy .. drove in for gas and gave us a 'honkin' and a 'hug' .. i loved that she had the chance to meet my gurlfrenz from "off". Linda would have been right in the midst of all our fun had she not been heading for a vacation the very next day. By the way .. doooooo visit Linda's website and order some of those
yummy canles. I get mine from her booth at Glovers' Station and at Cathy Cobblestone's delightful shoppe!

(tell her "FRANNIE SENT ME!"

the little fruit and veggie stand along the road in Buffalo sported this OVER A THOUSAND POUNDS PUMPKIN! the girls all wanted to stop
for a "kodak" moment!

and how about this almost TWO HUNDRED pound watermellon!!!!

Cyndi tried to roll this sucker to Freedom Valley!

AND ... here is our dear little "Patty-Cakes" from Australia!!

be watchin' for the next 'chapter' of our fun Gurlfren Gathering!

i do believe THE SILENT TREATMENT was my fav!

MEN! you can't live with 'em .. and you can't live with 'em!
o.k. handsome honey hunk husband hank .. i'm jus' kiddin'!!!!!

WOMAN'S PERFECT BREAKFAST
She's sitting at the table with her gourmet coffee.
Her son is on the cover of the Wheaties box.
Her daughter is on the cover of Business Week.
Her boyfriend is on the cover of Playgirl.
And her husband is on the back of the milk carton.

Keep reading-they get better!!!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

WOMEN'S REVENGE
'Cash, check or charge?' I asked, after folding items the woman wished to purchase.
As she fumbled for her wallet , I noticed a remote control for a television set in her purse.
'So, do you always carry your TV remote?' I asked.
'No,' she replied, 'but my husband refused to come shopping with me,
and I figured this was the most evil thing I could do to him legally.'

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

UNDERSTANDING WOMEN
(A MAN'S PERSPECTIVE)
I know I'm not going to understand women.
I'll never understand how you can take boiling hot wax,
pour it onto your upper thigh, rip the hair out by the root,
and still be afraid of a spider.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

MARRIAGE SEMINAR
While attending a Marriage Seminar dealing with communication,
Joe and his wife Ann listened to the instructor,
'It is essential that husbands and wives know each other's likes and dislikes.'
He addressed the man,
'Can you name your wife's favorite flower?'

Tom leaned over, touched his wife's arm gently and whispered, 'It's Pillsbury, isn't it?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

CIGARETTES AND TAMPONS
A man walks into a pharmacy and wanders up & down the aisles.
The sales girl notices him and asks him if she can help him.
He answers that he is looking for a box of tampons for his wife.
She directs him down the correct aisle.
A few minutes later, he deposits a huge bag of cotton balls and a ball of string on the counter..
She says, confused, 'Sir, I thought you were looking for some tampons for your wife?
He answers, 'You see, it's like this, yesterday, I sent my wife to the store
to get me a carton of cigarettes, and she came back with a tin of tobacco
and some rolling papers; cause it's sooo-ooo--oo-ooo much cheaper.
So, I figure if I have to roll my own . so does she.
(I figure this guy is the one on the milk carton!)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

WIFE VS. HUSBAND
A couple drove down a country road for several miles, not saying a word.
An earlier discussion had led to an argument and
neither of them wanted to concede their position.
As they passed a barnyard of mules, goats, and pigs,
the husband asked sarcastically, 'Relatives of yours?'
'Yep,' the wife replied, 'in-laws.'

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

WORDS
A husband read an article to his wife about how many words women use a day...
30,000 to a man's 15,000.
The wife replied, 'The reason has to be because we have to repeat everything to men..
The husband then turned to his wife and asked, 'What?'

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

CREATION
A man said to his wife one day, 'I don't know how you can be
so stupid and so beautiful all at the same time.
'The wife responded, 'Allow me to explain.
God made me beautiful so you would be attracted to me;
God made me stupid so I would be attracted to you !

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

WHO DOES WHAT
A man and his wife were having an argument about who
should brew the coffee each morning.
The wife said, 'You should do it because you get up first,
and then we don't have to wait as long to get our coffee.
The husband said, 'You are in charge of cooking around here and
you should do it, because that is your job, and I can just wait for my coffee.'
Wife replies, 'No, you should do it, and besides, it is in the Bible that the man should do the coffee.'
Husband replies, 'I can't believe that, show me.'
So she fetched the Bible, and opened the New Testament and showed him at the top of several pages, that it indeed says 'HEBREWS'

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Silent Treatment
A man and his wife were having some problems at home
and were giving each other the silent treatment.
Suddenly, the man realized that the next day, he would need his wife to wake him
at 5:00 AM for an early morning business flight.
Not wanting to be the first to break the silence (and LOSE), he wrote on a piece of paper,
'Please wake me at 5:00 AM.' He left it where he knew she would find it.
The next morning, the man woke up, only to discover it was 9:00 AM and he had missed his flight Furious, he was about to go and see why his wife hadn't wakened him,
when he noticed a piece of paper by the bed.
The paper said, 'It is 5:00 AM. Wake up.'
Men are not equipped for these kinds of contests.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

God may have created man before woman, but there is always a rough draft before the masterpiece
