oh how i wish you would/could! i think kentucky is one of america's best kept secrets. i know my maryland friends were VERY surprized at how beautiful the rolling hills are! i have read that there are people who think kentucky is very backwards and that everyone has messy yards with olde tires and trash and such in them! WELL! DANG! just wait until you see the yard up over the hill from us! oh lordy! i've never seen such a MESS anywhere in anyone's yard! EVER EVER EVER! and the house is sooooooooo CUTE! this little family surely does have that 'backwoods mentality that DELIVERANCE type movies are sometimes made of!' .. their saving grace is that they are indeed a sweet young couple with two darling little girls that i just adore. someday .. i am going to 'sweetly' suggest that they clean up the yard! i mean it is pitiful! you'll see! luckily .. we don't have to look at it! and they do have a 'hatfield and mcCoy feud' going on with another neighbor. isn't that a sad way to live! xo

it's all finished and ready for you to visit!!!

o.k. now .. i have visited the Cistine Chapel .. home of the Pope in Rome, Italy .. and i can honestly say .. that our little TREE HOUSE is more 'holy' to me.

Now .. you see that painting below by Michelangelo ..

well .. honey-hunk and i got into an ARGUMENT while standing under it! This was before 'digital cameras' .. and i had my little 'brownie hawkeye' .. and had it aimed up into clouds to take a photo of this maravelous painting. Hank made the BIG mistake of telling me i was 'silly' .. that it was tooooo far away for the picture to come out! I insisted on going through about six dozen rolls of film photographing every aspect of it .. through that tiny little camera hole in the back! He ... again .. made the BIG mistake of telling me to stop .. i was just wasting film! SNAP! SNAP! SNAP! A THOUSAND SNAPS LATER .. and we were glaring at each other under the Pope's very roof! (ahhhhhhhhh .. young love!) and dang! not ONE of those 8,632 pictures came out other than little 'dots'! (don't you just HATE it when a man is .. ohhhh .. dare i say it ... (right)

God creates Adam by Michelangelo.

Sistine Chapel (Italian: Cappella Sistina) is the best-known chapel in the Apostolic Palace, the official residence of the Pope in Vatican City. Its fame rests on its architecture, evocative of Solomon's Temple of the Old Testament and on its decoration which has been frescoed throughout by the greatest Renaissance artists including Michelangelo, Raphael, Bernini, and Sandro Botticelli. Under the patronage of Pope Julius II, Michelangelo painted 12,000 square feet (1,100 m2) of the chapel ceiling between 1508 and 1512. He resented the commission, and believed his work only served the Pope's need for grandeur. However, today the ceiling is widely believed to be Michelangelo's crowning achievement.

The Sistine Chapel takes its name from Pope Sixtus IV, who restored the old Cappella Magna between 1477 and 1480. During this period a team of painters that included Pietro Perugino, Sandro Botticelli and Domenico Ghirlandaio created a series of frescoed panels depicting the life of Moses and the life of Christ, offset by papal portraits above and trompe l’oeil drapery below. These paintings were completed in 1482, and on August 15, 1483,[1] Sixtus IV consecrated the first mass in honor to Our Lady of the Assumption.

Since the time of Sixtus IV, the chapel has served as a place of both religious and functionary papal activity. Today it is the site of the Papal conclave; the ceremony by which a new Pope is selected.

==========

well .. .anyhooooooooo .. i have always said that my 'church/temple' is "UNDER THE TREES" .. and now it has come to BE in our very own darling Tree House.

i cannot thank Kathy, Eddy, Michael and Mark enough for building this 'temple' for us!

here are a few 'morning photos' ... can hardly wait t'il you all come 'worship' with me! xoxo

they put 'railings' on three sides .. the sides where you could tumble off and break a bone or twelve!

loving the Christmas greens and reds!!
hung jackets on the side of the cupboard for honey-man and me!

love my little cupboard filled with candles and extra 'blankees'!

threw a little olde scatter rug on the floor .. (the mat covers a shredded part)

table t'wixt our two chairs .. for candles/books/coffee

one of the two hanging 'candle-abras' that we hung .. they give off such a wonderful glow of light at nighttime.

cute little 'iron bird' perched on the candle-abra!

i adore the 'glow' this one gives through all those little holes.
i got it from Cathy Cobblestone!!!

as the leaves drop to the ground .. our view of the woods and our 'cabins' opens to more of a view. can hardly wait to see the woods in the wintertime!

the wooded view from the edge of the tree house.

XOXOXOXO

HA! like i don't have better things to be doin' with my time! what with all ya'll ya-ya's showin' up on my doorstoop in a coupla' days! ... BUT I WANTED TO SHARE SOME OF THE WONDERFUL JEWELRY .. that my friends make .. and those we have gotten on some of our 'travels'.

took some pics of some of my fav 'jewels' ...

Friend, MaryLou Lingle from Greensburg, KY made this .. she did all the cutting and carving and EVERYTHING! it's about 6 inches long!
so gorgeous .. and 'feathers' are my 'totem'!!
ohhhhhh .. here it is AGAIN!
this is one of my very MOS' FAVs .. .

and this one is at the top of my FAV list too! MaryLou gifted this to me during our Arts Class last week.

i LOVE blackbirds!!

TURQUOISE is my mos' fav 'stone' .. friend Nan tells me it is a 'healing stone'. HA! i've been wrapping those around my neck lately!!!
yep! MaryLou also made this one for me! AND .. it has a 'feather' at the end of it too!!!

(i have TWO MORE of hers 'on order') .... i'll be taking some photos of her wonderful jewelry to post to ya'll soon! and they are all 'up for adoption'!! OHHH .. NOT MINE!!! the ones i'll be posting to you!

honey man bought this one for me in AMSTERDAM. (i try to collect
one beautiful piece of jewelry on all of our travels).

this one is from AFRICA

don't remember where i got this one .. but i love the 'beads'.

a few more 'beaded necklaces and bracelets

this one i especially adore. it actually was presented to hank from an indian tribe for a case he won for them .. everything on it is symbolic .. the 'cougar' is for the 'ferocity' with which he tried and won their case.

(he represented native americans in their environmental rights).

a few more turquoise/silver and beads

ohhhhhhhhh .. and this one is right up there at the top of my list of FAVS too! it was made by and given to me by my dear friend, Cyndi Rowe .. from Maryland .. YES!!! the VERY 'cyndi' that will be here this weekend to teach us all to make adorable 'twiggy pumpkin trees'!!!

close up of some of the wonderful beads!!

LOVE T.J. MAX for shoes/purses/luggage .. they are GREY .. and i had to ponder awhile before buying them .. BUT .. i brought them home with me ... t'other was only $50. BROWN .. but i know i'll get LOTS of wear out of both pair all winterlong! also got two wunnerful SHAWLS .. (to go with my boots) .. one is grey .. t'other is brown on one side and 'barn red with a pattern' on the other side) VERY FUNKY lookin'! finally got me a PIZZA CUTTER and a GARLIC PRESS at Bed, Bath and Beyond. we LOVE Papa Murphy's pizza .. and i gave my other pizza cutter to daughter wednesday .. sooooooo .. now i don't have to destroy our pizza's with a knife! and honey man likes GARLIC in just about everything he eats . .and i am sure i would cut a finger off by slicing it with a knife all the time!

what are YOUR fav kitchen gadgets?

got a bunch more PLANTS too .. i know they won't last much longer .. but i jus' LOVE plants! more mums mostly!

OH .. and hank went to ROTARY club tonight .. so i went to Barnes & Noble Bookstore and sat there for almost TWO hours .. reading books .. (bought a bunch too!!!!)

OH .. i found two WONDERFUL books about American Women and their 'stories' .. as PRIZES for a couple games we're gonna' play at our 'gathering' this weekend. (frying pan fling and pumpkin bowling)!

had a nice 'quiche' (they call it a STRATA) and starbucks coffee (soo strong .. i expect to see hair on my chest in the morning!) .. but yummy!

got home just in time to watch the presidential debate with honey hunk .. and watched the 'reviews' afterwards .. ran up here to check e-mails and say howdy to ya'll .. NOW .. i'm gonna' go downstairs and model my BOOTS!!

i posted this under Kentucky Gurlfren Gathering .. but will repeat it here in case you miss it there!

well .. ya-ya's .. it's only a few more days before we gather .. soooooo excited! much fun and friendship is promised!

let's see .. a few 'reminder-ettes' ...

bring a COT or BLOW UP Mattress .. your sleepin' bag and some warm 'kivvers' (i did gather a bunch of my quilts and blankees if you need an extra one!) i think JOY is going to bring a big coffee pot .. ours only makes TWO cups at a time! don't forget to bring a 'yummy' to share and a printed recipe of it for everyone ... OH .. and i don't think i've told you this one yet ... WRITE OUT YOUR FAVORITE POEM OR SAYING .. we're gonna' share these around the table at dinner time ..or around the campfire! bring a JACKET in case the night is cold and we wanna' stay up all night!

a few of the girls are bringing tents .. and there are wonderful places all over to find a little private spot to call your own .. or you can snuggle up near the 'tree house' .. i think we can get about 6 to 8 cots on the tree house deck!

OH .. we got a big box of cookies from sweet AUDREY in New Mexico! i'm determined to NOT open them until Friday .. or they might all get EATEN before you hit my doorstoop! i think someone else was gonna' send cookies along too.

let's see .. let's see .. what might i be forgetting? i'll check my e-mails and let ya'll know!

OH .. I THINK WE ARE UP TO ABOUT 30 OF US!!!

OHHHH .. I KNOW ... our TRUNK SHOW at Luna's on Saturday! be sure to bring a suitcase or trunk full of 'goodies' to SELL!

.................... Saturday 10/11 .. we will meet at 9:00 a.m. (EASTERN TIME) at Glovers’ Station Antiques Mall in Greensburg! (a bunch of the gurlz who live closer to kathy and luna .. will meet us at kathy's!) t'otherwise .. meet in Greensburg at 9 a.m. EASTERN time!

bring your DANCIN' SHOES .. cuz' i'm addicted to MAMA MIA .. and bring comfy shoes to 'walk in the woods' ... anyone who wishes to 'greet the sun' on Sunday morning with some YOGA ... bring comfy stretchy clothes for that!

CLASSES: i have completely lost count of who wants to take which classes ... sooooooo .. if more want to take it than the girls have 'kits' for (i told them 20 . .but we are well up to 30 by now!) anyhoo .. we will put everyone's name in a basket that wants to take each class and have DRAWINGS. EVERYONE will get to take a class though .. and hopefully even two or three!

ohhh .. and i'm thinkin' that if isn't raining sunday morning .. it would be great fun to cook breakfast in my big 'ole cast iron pans over a firepit!

BRING YOUR CAMERAS .. FER SHUR!!!!!!!!

ohhh .. and EVERYONE .. pleeeeeeeeze be sure to sign my little 'guest book' .. and i'm gonna' conjure up something else for everyone to sign for me too .. like a wooden rolling pin or an apron or sumpthin' .. for a memory-keeper for me. IF you'd like for the girls to all 'autograph' sumpthin' .. bring it along!

well, chilluns .. that's all i can think of RIGHT NOW .. if more comes to me .. i'll let ya' all know!

for those driving from a long distance or from close-by .. may the good lord guide you safely ... and .... for those of you flying .. may the 'angels carry you safely here'.

if you have any questions or suggestions .. jus' let me know! oh i can hardly wait!!! xoxo

Oh Frannie I have sat in front of this computer since 10pm, now it's 12am, catching up on all that you have been up to.
I'm so sorry to hear about your cancer, but relieved to hear it's not a terrible, awful kind to have. I'm keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.
I just love reading all your stories, meeting your friends through your words and pictures.
Thanks for sharing.

Absolutley Frannie! I know I've heard of Greene County before, but can't recall just how far it is from me.
My uncle lives close to or well Princeton is the closest town to where he lives. He's tried to tell my mom how to get to his house several times. One of these days we may figure it out.

The 23rd is also my lil girl's birthday. We had a party for her and her cousin this past Sunday, cause they're both October girls and in the same class at school. The day she was born was so amazing. I was scared to death, that she would have problems. When I was three months pregnant with her, I had the worst case of chicken pox you have ever seen. But she came out perfect. My older two were both over 8 pounds at birth, but not Hallie. She was 6 lbs 12 oz and the most mild tempered baby you have ever laid eyes on. So beautiful. So the 23rd is a very special day and I don't believe anything bad can ever happen on that day.

Today the kiddos have a late day. Not due to be at school till 10:15. Matt and Hall are playing cars and Cat's playing the drums. Hardly ever a quiet moment in my house, just the way I like it.

Have a great day!
Hugs~Melanie

gurlfrenz .. sometimes when i hear friends talk or read postings on my boards .. i just want to tell everyone to 'just breathe' and read "The Secret". now this is not to say that we can't 'be involved' in what is important to us .. but i do believe if we realized the wonderful effect that POSITIVE, HAPPY thinking can truly make in our lives .. THAT is where we would live.

(been reading another wonderful book about gratitude and positive thinking this morning .. and oh my! i am in such a happy 'state of mind'.) xoxo

been reading another marvelous book that The Secret is based on ... about "The Law of Attraction" .. and wanted to share some thoughts that mean a lot to me ..

Norman Vincent Peal, author of The Power of Positive Thinking, advocated that people trust that God's higher power was always with them. He observed that when they affirmed, visualized, and believed that God's power was at work in their lives, they energized their belief, actualized that power, and achieved astonishing results.

I watched an interesting film tonight about God/Higher Power/Source/Universe ... and many other 'names' for individual personal sources of higher being. It said that the word 'water' has many names in many different places .. but .. it is all what we call 'water' and means the same. i thought that was a good thought.

Replace your fearful thoughts with a sure-fire belief in a higher power working through you and with you and at all times ensuring your safety.

"For as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he ... "Knowing that whatever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive".

And this is where i believe when i read or hear 'worrisome' or 'weary' .. or fearful words from people in person or on-line .. i believe that "thinking good thoughts instead of dark or evil ones is a way of doing good. When you silently bless others, that is a good thing and good is attracted back into your life" Consider for a moment what kinds of thoughts and feelings, mental images, words, and deeds you are sending out."

ohhh .. honey man and i had such a nice time tonight. he leaves VERY early in the morning for nashville, where he will catch a plane to California to gather with some rugby buddies while i will be entertaining gurlfrenz here for the weekend. it is such a beautiful night that we walked to the tree house .. lit a bunch of candles .. and just sat there and talked quietly and listened to the 'night sounds' .. (we do have a resident owl or two and loved hearing the 'whoooo ... whoooo' of them! We even laid down on the cots down there and closed our eyes .. he had to eventually come back up to finish packing .. i lingered awhile longer and practiced my 'meditation' .. 'visualization' .. and 'good thoughts'. Almost fell asleep .. but wanted to spend this night with him .. so i wandered back up to the house with just the light of my flashlight .. it was so lovely in the dark!

Think i'll go off to dreamland now and envision fairies dancing around a campfire. Sweet dreams to all you gurlfrenz too! xo
