Looks like it's headed to South TX coast and seems to be more slow moving. Hoping it stays slower and I will be praying for those in it's path.

I'm holding my breath again too. Not only does it do damage on tangible things...but boy, does it get my bones/joints! And it wreaks havoc on the mind.... we have a busy season this year.

For a while, it looked like Houston was dead target! Then it
looks like it's turning west and then more south... now it seems
a little further back our way. Bah!!!!!

I know when I realized it might not directly hit here, I think I crashed and burned. I have taken a long nap like I am just exhausted. I think the stress got to me more than I realized.

Keeping all of you in the path in our thoughts!

Lori - I have a feeling you will be okay -thank God! Boy these cones of uncertainty surely cause us a lot of worry and pain!!!!!

Like many of us in the "zone" when it seems safe, suddenly, I also get sleepy and take a deep nap.

I hope everyone is safe!!!!

It seems like Hurricane Ike is headed more to lower Texas. God Bless them. Of course, I'll watch the weather channel daily, those thing turn around on a dime sometimes.

I'm so happy to hear that you are okay. How did you do during Hurricane Gustav? Hope all went well. Did you have a lot of cleaning up to do? Hubby and I cleaned up for a week.

I know one weather system influences the rest of the world- like taking a hand and slapping it on top of the water in your bath tub...so I wonder if the hurricanes are to blame for all this cold wet weather that is over Montana right now?

Marly, we got wind but not any damage. Thankful of course! Happy to hear you are okay too!

Alee, we will blame it on the hurricanes! Looks like Ike is going to send us some rain. Hopefully it wont be too bad.

Everyone stay safe!

Susan and Lorij what are y'alls plans for Ike. The weather channel has me on an all night buzzzzzzzz. And with this sore throat I'm taking something that is also giving me a super buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Hubby said we'll decide tomorrow if we need to leave. The neighbor gave me a call this afternoon, saying that her cousin, a state tropper, said tomorrow they'll be evacuating everyone below highway 13. That's us. I'll be really nutty by tomorrow. Again!!!!!

Annika:
Just remember, if I don't get online right after the hurricane that means I am busy cleaning up our yard, the business area, and the camp area. I will not let my dh do it all by himself. Hurricane Gustav hit Monday, and we did not get electricity until Friday afternoon. Would you like to fly down to Louisiana and go through a hurricane with us? I'll meet you at the airport. We can be nutty together. People here have "Hurricane parties" during hurricanes. LOL True. For Hurricane Ike, SW Louisiana is in the cone, but not where I live. But, the hurricane could turn. They do that. I hope those farmgirls in Texas are making plans NOW. I'd love to offer a place for them to run to, but my luck the hurricane would turn toward our area and hit us all.
LOL My throat is horrible. I cannot eat anything that doesn't slide down. Cold water makes it feel so good. I will try anything before I have to go to the doctor. I hate going to the doctor. I hate it!

Thanks so much, Heather ... In a way, I wish I could ... My husband is a little head-strong...thinking we will be okay and wanting to stick it out here ..... We're not in the mandatory evacuation areas... so just rest assured that we're not in those areas....

I know the officials are saying people like us should not evacuate because they are concerned that it would be like Rita (remember the highways.. it wasn't fun!) ... but yes, I am nervous and concerned...

I know God will keep me protected....

We actually ran out and got some other things and we were able to pick a battery powered/crank radio too...thank God! Yes, if you don't hear from us when this thing about hits, that is what happened. I have a feeling we will be okay. Thinking we will get somewhere between CAT 1 and 2 effects.. and we are in a brick building, not many windows... sandwiched between other brick buildings in the middle of them ..we feel okay ...I'm feeling better about it... no one is boarding up too much over here except for some businesses who might have flimsy windows.... some people are taping windows on top floors but I heard that's not so great ... We have some srt of protective film on our windows...

I'll keep you updated!

I am in Lafayette, Louisiana======The lower part of my parish has been evacuated and they STRONGLY suggested we get out of Lake Charles,,,,,the storm surge, high winds, toradoes and loss of electricity is what we are looking at down here. some are leaving and some are not. We have not been back long amd some folks are too tired, broke and won't leave. Please pray for them

You Texas girls---please take care. I am praying for you knowing that God will hold you in his hand.

Again, I know this is all that I say, but thank you for praying for us ---Will re-connect when I can. We are not expecting too much here as of this afternoon, so I feel safe.

Our Autumn (deepsouthmamma) and her family are in Sulphur, LA...I know she is staying..they never leave. Just want them to know I'm praying for their safety.

In Kingwood and in Magnolia for those that are familiar with those Houston "burbs" is where my sister and her husband are (in their RV and of course will be staying at my neices house), been there for the birth of their newest grandchild, my newborn granddaughter and parents are in Magnolia not to far from Kingwood. My sister sent me the local Houston emergency website link and some local Houston news stations so I can hear first hand what's happening.

So I am watching closely...brings back memories of Katrina...this too is a super storm and may take a lot of people by surprise.

Anyone out there please stay in touch as long as you can and let us know what your weather conditions are.

Hugs to everyone,

Stephanie
