Welp, I got my name cuz, are you ready, I've rather be goneriding than anything! About 6 or so years ago, I used my real name to post everywhere but one day I saw an ad for a ranch and it was Gone Riding Ranch (like the Gone Fishing signs) and I just knew that it was for me!! Some places I use gone2ride when I can't make the goneriding one work.
Someone mentioned Scotland...I've been there and I felt like I had gone home too.

I'm a shepherdess, through and through. Right down to shearing those "bags of wool" all by MYSELF!! I never dreamed I'd own sheep when I grew up, but here I am! -- nearly ten years later-- and I see no end in sight! (I have miniature goats too-- but it's REALLY hard to "shepherd" them!!! So I don't even try). Loved reading everyone else's post by the way. Great stories.

Well, my user name, Contrary Wife, is just me, ha. I like to quilt and there is an old pattern called Contrary Wife and the name always cracked me up because I guess I can be contrary, or as my dh likes to say, "are you giving me guff woman?" :) On the Scotland thread, I'd love to go and see what my ancestors saw. my name, Tempest Astrali, is my craft name that came to me in a dream.
All of you have some very creative names! I've enjoyed this thread a lot Ü

I absolutely LOVE autumn. It is my favorite time of the year and I look forward to the coming of October all year long. Fall is especially beautiful here in the Smoky Mountain Valley. There are days filled with cool crisp breezes, sunlight filtering through trees of red, gold, and orange; floating leaves drifting to the ground with the crunch underneath my feet; the smell of campfires on the wind, craft shows, warm sweaters, and bundling up in bed with my favorite flannel blanket, a good book, a spice scented candle at my bedside, and mug of hot mullin spices to sip...(thus the spices part).....
It doesn't get much better than that!

My name Many Pups comes from when my son and I joined the Indian Guide program at the local YMCA. They told us to pick a name that was special to us. I have 17 dogs and they are my pups so I became "ManyPups". |

Mine is only my 'freakish' name. Marcelina...seriously, I have only heard of one other person in all of my 42 years with my name. Now, Marcy, I like! But, Marcelina....eeecckkk!! I always wanted a nice, normal name. I always tend to giggle when people read my name, they always look at me as if I have just stepped off of Mars, or some such place, lol. That's if they can even pronounce it. I have heard myself called so many things. I was thiking of changing my name on here though, if it is possible. I really would like something a bit more cute and country.

Autumn ~ me too! I grew up in the midwest and now live in the Pacific Northwest. Different autumns, that's for sure, but I sure do love the mountains here when the weather changes. And.....it's coming up soon! Already putting pies in the freezer for baking in the winter and I bought some jelly jars last night for canning! The best part of fall for me is putting up the harvest. I feel so wealthy when I look at all the cans in the cupboard and peek in the freezer. Going to help butcher chickens on Wednesday.....getting chickens to take home as payment! Yes!!!!!!!!!!

Mmmmmm.......pies..... I can just smell them. I knew I'd find fellow autumn lovers here! What kind of pies are we talking about? I have some pie recipes I wouldn't mind sharing. I'm always looking for more jam & pie recipes ~ especially those that freeze well.
It's unseasonably cool here this time of year. It's cooling off early and I'm loaded down with squash, zucchini, and pumpkins. I found a recipe for zucchini pie the other day that I'm going to try. I'll let you know how it turns out.
Have fun harvesting chickens. I always help my dh on that job. Messy but nothing beats fresh meat in the freezer!
Blessings, Andrea

Sorry, I don't want to highjack the thread, but I got all wistful with the whole autumn thing. Right now I have blueberry pies in the freezer with more to be made. I'll make apple pies to freeze as well. Grape jelly, plum jam, blueberry jelly.....and so it begins!

BBoopster is a name that has followed me since my childhood. My name is Betty Jo and everyone tried to throw Betty Boop down my throat. I disliked her because I though of her as a not so bright brunette and a power user. But as years went by she did not irritate me quite so much. I also did find a slight resemblance between us. Dark hair, long legs, ample bust, tiny waist, big attitude (I have green eyes she has blue) and a smile that could usually get me what I wanted from the boys or the men. I know not nice to use my powers over those poor males. But if I could not get what I want from the boys. I got it myself, twice a good and twice as much. Anything they can do I can do better. Doesn't work on my DH never has, never will!
