Since the spirit of this thread is turning to acknowledging Mary Jane and everything she has done to promote a gentle, kind, self sufficient life style by strong women, I'd like to add my thoughts. I have never had neighbors to share my life with and my few close friends are scattered now in different towns. While I am fairly new to the forum, I am beginning to feel a kinship with many of the members and I thank Mary Jane for giving us all this wonderful opportunity. A supportive network of women to share our joys, sorrows, successes and failures. A place to find solutions for some problems, a place to vent and to get non-judgmental feed back on our opinions. From my heart, my thanks to Mary Jane. Sage

One of the many reasons i joined the sisterhood, i'm happy farmgirl #89, was so that some, or all, of the joining money might go toward the cost of the boards and maybe offset a little of all the time MJF farmers spend working on it. I have bought practically everything I can for myself, and i sell MJF budget mix and magazines in my shop now -all as a way to support a place that has so welcomed and supported me. I am getting tears. I will pay more and buy more if it will help me to say thank you in a real and concrete way.

What are ya'lls favorite Mary Jane Product to buy? I think I may order some of her mixes to make. Lord knows I'm not the world's best cook, nor do I like to cook, but I'm willing to try a taste. I would like to use some of the notecards as thank you notes, etc.

What are your favorite items?

I bought most of the apron patterns, which i love. I bought all the books, the audio book, the journal and note cards which i can't live without. I have organic sheets which are swell. I bought sweet lena iris's but they haven't bloomed yet. maybe because i check them everyday! "A watched iris never blooms..." But my favorite thing so far is the indoor garlic - delish all winter. Going to buy more once they are in stock again. I am forgetting something i've bought...hmmm
Oh yeah! My dansko clogs! Love 'em.
Cheers, karen

Those shoes look so comfy Karen! I have the books, magazines, and journal. I have one of the old "Wave If You're a Farmgirl" bumper sticker on my car and one on my mandolin case. I love the bedspreads on there, but I've been using the quilts that my grandma and great grandma made over the years. I know several of the girls mentioned the bath towels and how they loved them. I joined the sisterhood and my certificate is hanging proudly on my wall matted & framed in a barnwood frame. I've got several of Wilma's pillows from over the years. I'm going to try a couple of the food items. What do you guys recommend that would be good for diabetics?

Jess, I like the towels, and as far as food goes, I like most all of the soups, especially the peasant tomato. I also like the pesto fry bread (isn't that what it's called?), and I like almost all of the pastas...so suffice it to say that I'm alright with it all :)...

Well I have a fession to make, I dont know much about organic food, I had some of the pasta things so I ordered those and some note cards but they might be out of them so I just said do Journals in their place , I meant to get the pesto fry bread but forgot so will get them tomorrow, I figure with my 12 year old mentality I surely could boil water and put it in a bag. You will have to teach me about organics,

Wilma-
The pesto fry bread is excellent, I cook it in the cast iron skillet in a bit of oil- one of my very favorites;)

A few of my farm favorites you ask?

First let me say that we live on one modest income for our family of four and it is possible to eat organic and to live richly without a huge amount of money!

My order from the farm this week included...a case of Taskbars (my favorite flavor is whatever one I am eating!), some sunrise chocolate bars, and a package of gluten free budget mix. At our co-op I get the spicy black bean flakes (by the half gallon jar full), falafel, and some of the soups from the bulk bins.

We love the towels and sheets and I give those as gifts when I have a wedding or something big. Dansko's are worth every penny and last through years of hard use. Whenever a new book comes out I manage to save up for a few extra copies and then when I have friends birthdays or run into someone who 'needs' it I have one on hand. Last summer when we traveled to California we were on a tight budget and many of our friends invited us to stay and took such good care of us. I put a stack of magazines in the car along with some soap from a local soap maker and left one of each at the places we stayed as a thank you- a little something from Moscow. Hopefully someday they will all come here and let me spoil them.

Warmly, Rebekka

Rebecca I am so glad to get this, I really can cook its just that I have never done a lot of organic. I was scared to death that MJ and family wouldnt like my food when they came. You know I have several of the older mags that I can do that with because I will soon start traveling more, I will also pin a little note in each one and say when you get done with this please give it to some one else, does that sound okay?I wanted to get one of her bedroom sets if Belks at Danville have them, Since I will be re doing the pepto bismol room. I will order the task bars and pesto fry bread tomorrow, I would like the choclate again but I dont know if my rear end can handle any more fat since I havent done enough to work the fat off this winter. Love you

I just had to pop in to say how much I love the Budget Mix, Focaccia Bread, Falafel and I even got some Griddle Cakes but haven't tryed them yet.

It is all so very easy to prepare and I love making "creations" so these products give me the license to throw in everything but the kitchen sink!

Its been a long day and I am tired, just wanted to say for those that bought for those that gave praise, thank you. Thank you Jeannie, you must have read my mind,Its not often in life we see such honesty and integrity. Life has different meanings to different people, would be rather dull if we were all alike. Some laugh, some cry, some pray, some become adults, some remain as children,Some can, some will, some cant.I hope in some tiny way we have showed our Mary Jane how much we love her, So ends the story of The Little Red Hen

Miss Wilma..here's the link to the bread
http://products.maryjanesfarm.org/pfoshop/product.asp?dept_id=230&ProductID=42002

There's a list of ingredients down below the picture...it's an artisan bread in my opinion. Very unique flavor..
