I have folks that live in Spokane so I'm a hop and a skip away from the farm. I'd love to come. May I ask how many can be accomodated and of course what do you think the cost for the weekend would be. Practical questions to determine whether I could come and participate. It's a wonderful idea!
And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk to blossom |

Hi All,
Didn't see that I was at the beginning of the string instead of the end. I guess I missed this one! I'll hope to get in on the next event. I'll be excited to hear about your gathering.

HI YA-YA'S .. honey hunk and i JUST got home from our fun 'caribbean cruise' .. we stopped at jamaica and grande cayman island .. then we spent a few days in the florida 'keys' .. i'll write all about it in a coupla' days .. have a few doc appointments i have to catch up with first though! (i did keep a journal .. and took lots of pics! for awhile, this may be the 'last' trip too far away from home that i will be able to take because .....
. . . a little 'up-date' on what's happenin' here and in DELAWARE .. it's still 'unknown' as to whether or not i will be able to make it to the gathering .. i'm sure maryjane can conjure up another class for you all if i can't.
as soon as we hit 'land' again .. i called daughter, kristen ... she chittered and chattered away about everyone in the 'delaware' family (sounding very upbeat and happy) .. even though i started out our conversation with: "hi honey, we're back in florida .. what did the doctor say?" she just glossed over my question .. and i let her talk excitedly until she was ready to tell me. in the meantime .. and between the 'good news' .. she tells me that her boyfriend of TWENTY YEARS (they have lived with each other all that time and have a wonderful son who is 14 years old) .. before james (our grandson) was born .. jimmy (the boyfriend) had to have emergency open heart surgery .. during which he almost died twice! .. he was told that the operation would be 'good' for about ten years and then they would have to 're-assess'. (it has been about 16 years now) .. and last week .. his legs went totally numb .. he went to a specialist who said he had a very good chance of losing both legs. he went for a second opinion .. he is on 'blood thinners' (which kristen says 'seems' to be 'working' so far) .. they are now giving him about a 50-50 chance of losing or keeping his legs!
needless to say .. they are VERY worried! so much so .. that Jimmy got down on his knees and 'proposed marriage' to kristen .. she, of course, said YES! (kristen has been a 'caretaker' to anyone and everyone with an illness or disability all her life .. this has never been a 'paid' job .. just something that is in her soul.) So .. it did not surprize me that she said yes to jimmy despite possible severe physical problems. She said they have not set the date .. but that it will be within the next couple months. FINALLY, she got around to telling me that the family has all been ill with 'the flu' and that she put off her appointment to see the doctor about her mamogram results for NEXT WEEK. So .. i am still in 'limbo' as to when and if i will be available to travel anywhere in the next couple months any further than a stone's throw away .. i will have to keep open and available all dates and times to immediately head for delaware if needed. I've contacted MaryJane with this information and a requst that she find someone else to teach something fun at the gathering .. and if all turns out blessedly well and i can come .. i'll come to jus' join the fun!
well, kiddo's we've been travelling since early this morning (our plane sat 'on the ground' in ft. lauderdale for THREE HOURS because a 'red warning ENGINE light' came on .. and they had to have several mechanics check it and calls went back and forth between them and the airline headquarters as to whether or not it was SAFE to fly this plane. Finally, all passengers EXCEPT those heading for Louisville had to leave the plane in order to make connecting flights .. and our plane in Tampa was held for THREE hours for us .. i guess it would be pretty expensive to have to 'put up' all those travellers for the night .. as that was the LAST plane out heading for Louisville.
(I made the pilot cross his heart and hope NOT to die .. that the 'red-light' ENGINE problem was taken care of! He said he didn't want to die anymore than any of the passengers did .. and he PROMISED me it was all o.k.!! (we landed safely in Tampa .. soooo .. he kept his promise!)
i'm gonna' hit the bed now ... talk at you kids sometime tomorrow .. will post stories and pics of our vacation on my 'freedom family' GATHERING ROOM (blog) soon's i get a chance to typie it all up! But it was LOTS OF FUN!
it's good to be 'home sweet home' and i hope you have all been well and had lots of fun too! xo, frannie

Melissa- Welcome to the forums! Farm fair is usually in July but I believe there will be a family wedding there instead this year. Some of the gals will have a farmgirl weekend at the farm in May and I do think that all the tents were full at last count. Rebekka

Frannie-
I hope she is okay, but _of course_ family First!!! Okay, so us farmgirls are all family, but flesh and blood family first even before farmgirl family! :D If you can't make it, I am sure we will all be a tad disappointed, but we can always schedule another gathering if need be! You are so dear to be thinking of us when you must be worried sick about your daughter! *hugs* We are all thinking good thoughts for you both, I am sure!

Was there/is there to still be some sort of thing at the old mill? is that farm fair? I've never been, so I'm confused. Is there a gathering of some sort? I'd love to come up and meet who ever is there. All of you are nearly family to me. I live close by, is there a possibility of me coming up to the May gathering?
Frannie *hug* I hope that your daughter is ok, I'm worried too and sending lots of good energy and well wishes

MaryJane, if you're around in the next couple days, can you give us official word as to whether the farmgirls weekend will go on if Frannie can't come? I know you are super busy right around the time we are planning this, and I sure don't want to be making your life even more hectic! I know we are all looking forward to it, but I'm sure none of us want to be a burden on you either. Any scoop you could give us would be great! Thanks so much for all you do for us MaryJane!

Amanda .. i put in a call last night AND today! she SWEARS she has an appointment for NEXT WEEK. I've tried to let her be her own adult .. but .. decided that i would 'be on' any friend who had a suspicious mam and did not go back to find out about it .. SO I DID!!! (She says she has another spot under her arm (not the armpit) .. sun damage .. that she has to have biopsied too! AND .. she is taking cortizone shots for an achy back! she still does not know if her 'man' is 'out of dangerous waters' yet!
i'm heading for a gurlfren get-away tomorrow! OHIO ... (had my buttinski) test today and i am all fit and fiddle in that department! LORDY! those are TURRIBLE to go through ... i was laughing and joking with the nurses and mentioned that i was jus' pretending i was at an elite SPA in the South of France (and THIS .. as i bobbled with my my 'water bottle' connected by a tube to my hand .. and my hiney hangin' out of the paper gown they give you to wear!
BUT ALL IS WELL .. sooo .. it surely was worth jus' finding out that i have a 'healthy hiney'!
gittin' old's a bi-otch sometimes!
auntie em .. i'm thinking that with maryjane's wonderful local resources .. she will, indeed, be able to conjure up a class of some sort if all these family matters keeps me here at that time. i will soooooooooooooooo HATE miss meeting all you gurlfrenz though!! xoxo

Yes, yes, yes Aunt Em. We're still on for our Gala in May even if Frannie can't make it. There will be plenty of activities to keep us (farmerettes and farmgirls) from lollygagging the day away. See soon!!!!!!

Ron is off on Friday, May 2nd, so he will drive our fifth wheel down that morning and then will come pick me up on Sunday. I can't wait! The next week is Jr. Livestock Show, which we stay at the Fairgrounds for, so it will be lots of living in the fifth wheel. That's okay . . . it keeps the house clean when we are gone! LOL! I am disappointed in Frannie can't come, as I love her dolls . . . plus I am dying to meet her, but I think we can all manage to still have lots of fun. I will bring my sewing machine and several projects. As a true farmgirl, I have more projects that I will ever finish in this life time! LOL!
Hugs & blessings,
Brenda

Hey Brenda, I think a "Sewing Circle" or should I say "Finish a project Circle" would be fun.... Problem is,,,,I must have hundreds of 'unfinished' projects, sewing, crocheting, cross stitich, card crafting etc... you name it, and I probably have it laying around unfinished!!! I still have not picked up my "pottery" at the Polkadot Studio,,,go figure!!!! Who knows, by the time I get around to picking it up, it just might be a "collectable" lol! (Hope DH is feeling better) hugz,

Hey ladies! Its getting close now! Woo-Hoo!!! Just wondering if you, MaryJane, have decided yet on a cost for the weekend? And if we should be putting together our food orders yet, and what we should be bringing and stuff like that. We are getting excited!

MaryJane and Frannie, I read in the thread no day- trippers....:(.....Even if we offered to come and work for the day (sat)... I am sure there will be lots to do to insure all runs smoothly ( you know run get that, oh we need this) and what a great oppertunity to meet everyone.. Sounds like Annika would be up for that too....We wouldnt be day-trippers just.............'em.........."free labor". :)
