Brenda I am still laughing at the gas hose story! It reminded me of the time when I was learning to drive at 15 and mum took me up to the middle school above our house. I was doing fine, I tended to get distracted and stare at leaves, squirrels, whatever came by, but I was totally catching on finally. Well I started to get cocky and I swear I have some learning problem, I totally forgot which was the brake and which was the gas and when I got to the fence I hit the "brake" only to go right through the fence when I actually hit the gas hard. Well we are "good" law abiding people but mum was very worried that she let me drive so she went into the police station to tell them and they got a good laugh out of it and $500 :-o

I tend to have stupid moments randomly and once I have one they keep coming. I went to Montessori Preschool where you had to take a test to see if you were smart enough. Well, I was telling my ex that I went to the smart preschool and blah blah cause he always told me I'm dumb etc. That's why he's an ex. Then I told him how I peed in my pants for the last time while I was watching the fishes......ahem ok FISH.... oopsie and that same day I said whats the W and L on the mens pants.....

I was teaching Kindergarten about Bach. The not so with it kid that always has to be told to get back on task says OH my daddy knows him yeah my daddy knows him he works with him...I think not kid Johann Sebastian Bach. Gotta love em.

o.k...I have one about my eldest daughter....now I'm not naming names here..but..this is my eldest child...
Anyhow..one day her dad and I were talking about genetics and how we pick up some of the oddest things through our ancestry..habits/likes/dislikes..etc.
Anyhow my husband..always the jokester and witty one decided that he'd make up a little jingle ..so he started singing around the house "blame it on your genes...oh just blame it on your genes"
Well....of course a 3 yr. old is going to pick up on what her parents say and do. So the very next day I'm in the kitchen and I hear N...singing to the top of her lungs as she is heading down the hallway..."oh, blame it on your genes, just blame it on your genes" She kept doing this for several minutes..so I quickly stopped what I was doing to peek around the kitchen corner at her...when she did it one more time"oh...blame it on your genes, just blame it on your genes"..then she stopped and looked down at her shorts..and said "oh just blame it on your shorts"
At this point I about lost it..I doubled over with laughter.
To this day we joke about it.."oh just blame it on your shorts!"

oooh mama!hmm...whatever shall I embarass you with? maybe the Cafe in the Antiques store? yeah...that'll work!

So earlier in the year, we go to this antiques store, where boldly painted on the outside it says "Cafe and Antiques"
We go in and mom is looking around and sees all these tables and chairs, goes up to a lady and asks "do you have a cafe here?"
that woman just looks at her like mom is crazy and says "yes"....meanwhile I'm right behind her LMBO, and say something about mom not having her medication yet for the day(remember that part mom?)...so now we are sure to tease her..we went in the store again this past week, and I'm going "ooh, I wonder if they have a cafe here?" just to be mean ya know...hehe...
we are brutal...hehe

well..I was tired that day after walking all over the daggum town and by the time we get into the antique shop which was big and with loads of stuff to look at..my mind was on antiques..not the cafe..so even though I saw the chairs in the middle of the shop..my mind did not register "cafe" nor did I pay attention to anything on the store signage except for the word "antiques". So we are in the shop and I'm slap wore out and I see this little area tucked in the corner with plate stands and cakes on them so I ask the lady behind the counter.."oh..so ya'll sell cakes here too?" and yes..she gave me this weird look like "uh..duh! this is a cafe too"
Oh my I was so embarassed.
Luckily this next time that we went through the store..they didn't recognize me..sheew breathing a sigh of relief here..but ya know how family can be..they never ever let you live it down..and yep..my crew can be brutal.

then there was the time when eldest daughter was oh..about 8 or 9 and it was summertime and hot as blue blazes outside. Naomi was outside in her bathing suit..a one piece playing in the water hose. Anyhow her dad and I were in the courtyard sitting at the table chatting when her dad lets me in on "the plan" He sends Naomi back into the house to fix him a big, big mug full of ice water..but with the instructions to make the mug mostly filled with ice..not too much water now ,mind ya... cause it will melt anyhow.
So..innocent little Naomi goes to obey. So she brings the big travel mug out to her dad and her dad acts like he's drinking it and walks over into the yard to talk to Naomi all the while holding this huge mug filled with ice.
He continues chatting with her then points off into the distance..the moment he does..he pulls the bathing suit just enough to dump the entire contents of the icy mug down the back of her bathing suit!! I'm talking a huge mug full of ice.
It was the funniest sight to see the bottom of the bathing suit filled slap full of ice cubes!!! It was even more hilrious to watch her running around the yard trying to get them all out of that suit. If you can imagine..the entire bottom half was potruding out like a huge bottom. We doubled over with laughter. Course she probably didn't think it was funny, but I wish to this day I would have had a video camera. She has yet to pay her dad back for that one.
yep..we are brutal here. LOL

ok ..I've got a hilarious one..
when I was younger my sister got extremely sick with mono and became very depressed because she could not play and was bedridden. We honestly thought with the combination of the sickness and depression that we were going to lose her because she just wasn't "snapping out of it"
So my dad said to her.."what kind of pet would you like..I'll get you whatever..just so you get better" So he thought she'd choose something easy of course. Boy was he shocked when she said.."I want a baby lamb!"
So..off dad went to try to find a baby lamb..ooh boy howdy..well find one he did..for $40.
A wee baby ram..pretty,tiny and white.
So..my mom had just changed the bedding on the "sick bed" with nice clean sheets and everything and my little sister was all propped up in bed when in comes my dad and the entire family piles onto the bed..Dad sets the wee little lamb onto the bed..and mom and everyone is gathred around.
When all the sudden that wee lamb decided to do what little wee lambs with full tummies often do..it decided to use the bathroom with wee droppings.
Well my mom quickly hollers"not on my clean sheets you don't!!!" and there she is with her hands cupped up under that wee lambs bottom..yep...catching droppings!
We joke about it and laugh to this day..we tell mom..."not on my clean sheets you don't!!!"
LOL
yes..my sister quickly got better..and "Snowy" the lamb lived with us for several years..until he became a bit rambunctious and we gave him to an outdoor classroom facility /zoo that taught children about various animals and environmental issues.

Okay girls I didnt get in trouble I just had my mail box filled up So here goes Awhile back our dogs had a stray cat up a tree, My granddaughter was here and is an animal lover, well we knew the dogs would kill the cat and she was begging her papa to get the cat down so he finally got the dogs up and here she came to the back door with the cat after a lot of begging i finally said she could bring it to the kitchen only that lasted a little while and she conned me into letting her bring it into the living room if she kept it in a box That went pretty good with a ball of yarn, then not long before my daughter came to get her , she fed it a can of tuna. Well when Susie came Brieanne wanted to take the cat home susie told her she alrready had 10 cats no more Well I felt sorry for her and talked Susie into letting her take it home since she had saved its life. After awhile Susie called back and told me the bad news , I talked to Brianne a little later and asked her how the cat was She said uh uh Nana I had an INCEDENT WITH THE CAT. I asked carefully what happened uh nana it started pooping these little pill things and I grabbed paper towel trying to catch it and then Nana it started peeing and the towel was all wet and I was trying to throw the towel out the window and then Nana it started pooping real squirty and Nana we had to roll all the windows down Then Brooke was gagging and Nana it smelled really really bad. I asked her politely what mommy said , she replied mommy yelled real big BRIANNE YOU BETTER NOT LET THAT CAT OUT OF THE BOX So now Nana can not give Brianne any more cats Miss Wilma

I will share the strawberries, but we might get any plums because I think the cow ate the plum the prop up, I love flowers, I have got a pretty good start on lilies My garden didnt do as well this year because of the drought but maybe things will be better this year. I have a lot to learn about organic. I stick em in the ground on top of a pile of cow manure and dont do anything else to them, I thought that was organic duh.

This is kind of on the edge, too, so please forgive if I offend anyone. My sister still tells this one on me in safe company.

When I was little I could not make the sound of sm like in smile, and I would say file instead, using an f sound. My older sister (by 8 years) and I went to Coy's corner store one day to get bread and milk and we got the counter to pay, and all of sudden I remembered and said real loud...."Jannie, mommy told us to get some _ucker's jelly. My sister was about 12 or 13 at the time, and I could not understand why she was so mad and took us out of there without getting the jelly!

Miss Wilma - it was your story about "forty" that reminded me, because you can imagine how it sounded when I used the word smart.

I look forward to hearing that.

I grew up real strict, too. No alcohol, no cigarettes, and lots of church suppers. Our church was just down the street and we walked there a lot. But we all could laugh and have fun like there was no tomorrow.

If you can stand one more funny kid story, here's one from my family. Growing up in a family with many children, we spent far too many summer vacation days following my mom through grocery and department stores on her daily errands. My youngest brother was very hyperactive and was quite a handful. One day when he was 4 or 5, we were in the socks-and-underwear department at Sears and he was running around in circles, crawling into the clothing racks, etc. After a while we noticed that his noise and fidgeting had stopped. Where was he? We looked and looked, and finally found him under a rack of slips and nighties. He was huddled up with his hands over his head, moaning "Too much underwear...too much underwear..." I guess he'd had all the shopping he could handle for one day.
