I did a lot of the quilting for the purple and orange one while my dad had surgery. The other one I did in 24 hours..I ate, slept, and and breathed that blue and purple one. My fingers hurt so bad when I was done, my husband brought me a huge mocha and told me to just rest and sleep. He entertained kiddos, and I slept on the couch.

The auction was good. More than $800.00.

Good job Jessica. I was wondering. My dh wouldn't be as understanding as yours.

oh my husband is so understanding..it is really amazing. The entire house can be in shambles and no dinner to be found and I can show him the smallest teensiest embroidery or a bag of yo yos or something and all he does is smile and laugh. Now every few months he does have his moments, but the are few and far between, and definitely warranted. We have a very good understanding...I am everything he is not, and he is everything I am not, so when you come home to less than you expect, flop down on the couch and smooch!

Cute Jess. My dh does a lot to help out around here. He would just shake his head when I made things for others, such as the Music Boosters.

at our school we have mandatory hours that you must volunteer in some way to help the school. If you do not, you are charged $25/hr, so he is happy for me to do it for them.

Wow! That would definitely be an incentive for parents to volunteer. I always tried to volunteer. I was at the boy's elementary school so much that people thought that I worked there. I tried to help as much as possible for the music boosters, because this was how things got paid for like uniforms, etc.

The quilt is beautiful. You did a wonderful job. Right now I am working on two quilts. One is a tumbling blocks that I am doing completely by hand and the other is a honeycomb that I am doing on the machine. I love scrap quilts the best as I get to work with lots of colors, but I am willing to learn how to quilt anything. I love quilts, especially antique one's as I can spin my own story's about the people who made them.

Welcome Marcy! I spin my own tales about my old quilts too! Isnt that funny???

Here's how I relieve stress during the wedding we are in the middle of

I don't even have a plan- I just need to stitch and these caught my eye.

I was just reading a topic about Bev doing an applique quilt for the farm and thought you guys would like to see an old project of mine.
I am a big believer in keeping our family history alive orally. I am no storyteller but I love repeating the stories to my kids and grandkids when I get the chance.
Several years ago I decided to make a quilt with pictures that would trace our family's life from our marriage onward.
It was great fun to make and the kids really enjoy re-telling the stories.
I guess I'll start a thread with just those pictures on it but here is one of my favorite blocks.

And this is where I embroider new babies and marriages of each of my children. Everyone has a place!

AUTUMN,
I know what you mean about needlework helping calm the mind. Years ago when things were out of control I made 16 afghans. I don't really enjoy making those anymore HA.I think embroidery is a very good choice. Yours are perfect. The wedding will be beautiful.

Oh, Autumn!! I love that story embroidery! What great work you do. I want to make a quilt of my house one day. Years ago I started one and never finished it. Maybe this summer. I did finish my churn dash quilt top last week. It's on my blog. Check it out!

I made an Irish Chain this weekend!! Always wanted one and this one was a nice variation. It's green and white (hard to tell the colors in the pictures because the green is so dark). I will work on my flower swap block this week so I can get them off to Clare.

Jess: They are 9 1/2 unfinished. Made it easy to make a fairly large quilt (lap-sized) pretty quickly.
