I have started my first real quilt. I made my own version of a patchwork quilt several years ago and it went just fine. However, I am about to embark on a wallhanging that has V's in it and putting this together in the right order seems important. I would start in the center and sew them and then would I sew the white V's to the leapord print and then add the black dot corners? Then what? Help? In what order do you sew this block?

i would suggest if possible, to have the leopards be two triangles instead of one that way you are working iwht blocks and then sew them in rows and then attach the rows. however if you already cut them out then if you cut them you will be messing up your sizing. but perhaps keep it in mind for the future. that really is beautiful.
at this point i would say just go slow when stitching

Piece it in 4 vertical rows, then piece those rows together. Actually those leopard vees are two triangles each pieced with a white triangle. You can piece it as a solid vee, but then you would have to sew an inset seam, it may be easier not to do that. I don't know if this helps.....

I'll try to explain how I put together a similar block. Hopefully, my memory is working.LOL
Sew the center 4 patches. Take the leopard print and sew the white triangle corners. Lay out your 3 rows. You will sew the top row - one corner + the leopard print (rectangle) + one corner. Next, do the center row - one leopard print + center 4 patch + one leopard print. Then for the last row, repeat as for the top row. Now, you would sew all 3 rows together. I always press and square up each section before putting blocks together.
Make sense - I sure hope so. If not, let me know and I'll try to dig out the pattern.
I do like the fabrics you've used. It's going to be a neat quilt.
Sending good wishes your way - you can do it!

The method I have used is with the "leopard" print being a rectangle and two squares that overlap each other forming the outside. What you have there is a "flying" geese. If you google it I think you will find many ways to make your piece of the block. Eleanor Burns has a very unusual way of making the flying geese and it makes four rectangles at one time. If you want to e-mail me, I will give you the directions.

Oh, my I do have to cut that leopard print or it won't work right. You were right and I can get a bit more fabric to do the rest. Glad you gave me a heads up to sew slow, Karen. :D I had to do some tearing out as it is easy to get confused with all the different angles. I will show you all a completed square when I get back from the pool.
