DH and I went for a ride to take the doxies out for a run and ended up in this woodsy area not far from here called Caitol Forest. We were driving up one gravel forest service road when dh turned off onto a smaller road and stopped. We got the dogs out and started walking up the road. We hadn't walked very far when Lucy ran over to the side, sniffing the ground. Out of the brush walked a cute little black and white kitten. I went and picked it up and saw another, grey one, in the berry vines. Then we saw the tire tracks where someone had dumped them off. Didn't even take them somewhere, like near a farm, where they could find a home. They were way out there in the boonies. I don't know how some people can sleep at night. We brought them home and fed them and now they're fast asleep. I'm needing names for these two cuties, the white one with black spots is a boy, and the allover grey one is a girl. Any suggestions for names? I'm drawing a blank. |

We had a wonderful all grey cat named Topaz once. And how about Charlie for the boy?

After much discussion with DH (sorry Carol Sue, Lost and Found got zero votes) the new members of the Grubbs family are............. Charlie and Ashes (variation on Ashen). Now if I could just keep Lucy from licking them to death!! |

I have a black cat, and one that is so grey she is silver. But I name my pets with people names.
I hope to get an all white cat sometime. I'll name her Crystal. It's just as well we hardly ever find strays.
Friends of ours have 17 cats!!! Seems like when one passes, another one adopts the family.
Pet dumping around here is rediculous. Poor babies |

We had two dogs once named Hawkeye and Hotlips. Their dog house had a little sign on it that said MASH 4077! :)
Love the names you chose, but I thought Lost and Found was funny!

I want to get a white cat tooo someday but I want it to have one blue eye and one green eye. I know they are usually deaf but it would be inside and cats dont mind or do what ya want them to do anyway. :)) Shirley |

Charlie and Ashes! How cute! You'll have to give updates on how they are doing. |

I was thinking about how it would sound when I go outside to call them - "Here, Lost, here kitty kitty kitty, Here found, her kitty" I haven't met my neighbors since we moved here and I'm not sure I wanted them to here that as an introduction! |

OK, Sherri, just be cautious when you are out there hollering "Ashes, Ashes!" if your neighbors are outside, they might think you are calling them derogatory names! LOL
We have a neighbor who calls her cat in every evening; it always makes mne smile to hear her wailing...
"WA-TERMELON! WAAAAAHHH-TERMELON!
It could be worse though, couldn't it?

Well, I never thought of that! I wonder if when I'm calling "Ashes, Ashes" someone will holler back "We all fall down." |

Sherri, I am so glad you found and took in those little babies. I seem to attract them myself. Someone recently brought me a bottle baby and a couple days later someone dumped the sweetest all grey tabby off near our house. We have 6 cats, so I decided to find homes for the new two. The bottle baby (Miya, named by the new owner) will go to a close family friend, and my parents decided to keep Blossom as our nursery cat.
We have Sunrise, Snoopy, Smokey Bob, Misty, Patches, & Flower, but we probably feed another 5-10 from the area because we leave food out for all during the day. We just recently lost our sweet little Sweetpea & Hazel.
I sure wish people would take better care of their animals and not dump them.
When I feel spring coming I have to plant or I’ll go crazy! |

Sherri, How about Pepper for the boy and Scout for the girl? It makes me wonder if there might have been more kittens than just the two you found. So sad. I don't know how a person could sleep at night dumping baby animals that are not wild.....

We did a pretty thorough search of the area to make sure there weren't more. These two were pretty bold, coming out of the brush, meowing at us and Lucy. |

Aw! They sound just like the two cats who live 24/7 in my town design studio! Same markings. I call my gray one Smudge. The black and white one has a silly girl's name but if I had it to do over again, I might call her Pixel, because I work with computers.
Lost and Found are cute names! |

How lucky for them that you were there to find them! I have to say it's a shame that people think farms (or further out) are the appropriate way to deal with "unwanted" pets. However, their loss is your gain.
I had a friend once who called their cats "Scout" and "Gem" from "To Kill a Mockingbird" and it seemed to fit!
Congrats

Sherri, you are such a sweetie to take in these darling kittens! How sad that people can be so awful. It was meant for you to find them! Bless your heart.
