A new year, new month and new day!

I started out putting Christmas things away. Now I am drying pineapple that I got on sale at Kroger last week. They were very unripe when I bought them. They were 87 cents a piece but now wish I had grabbed more than 2. I really enjoy dried pineapple.

It's rainy again today so while the house is filling with that wonderful smell I am preparing meatloaf to take to the kids for tonight so they won't have to worry about dinner when they arrive home from their travels.

I hope everyone here enjoys every minute of this new year.

Happy New Year's Day to all our Sisterhood Farmgirls!! I love a new year because it feels a bit like a new school year to me. New adventures, new friends, new ideas, it all feels good to ponder a clean slate of possibilities.

I too have been putting Christmas away and cleaning up as I go the past few days. It seems like the holidays really flew by quickly this year. Plus, December has been way above average in temperatures so it has not been that cozy by the fire watching old movies with the tree all lit up kind of year. Florida is like that sometimes and I have seen a few azalea bushes already opening up a few flowers.

The holidays did seem to speed by Winnie. We've had warmer days than I thought we would for December. It does look like we may be getting some cooler temps soon though. The room where the tree was looks a bit bare.

New adventures that is for sure! I for one am looking forward to walking without a walker. And going for walks and driving and getting my house back to normal. It hasn’t been normal since 2019.

Driving is like riding a bicycle -- you never forget. After almost a year I can see to drive now. The poor dead car had to be brought back to life with a new battery and master cylinder but I can now go places by myself again. Freedom !!! I just need someplace to go.....

Yeah that is how my car is. It will have to have a new battery to even get going in the first place. It died two years ago.
It will happen when it is supposed to.

Yes it will.
Have a good weekend !
Love you all!

Hooray! Finally got the new counter top in today. Matches the other and looks good. I'm just happy to have it done! Finally feeling settled in. I have to get at some crafts though because it seems I need something for my hands to do. Can't be sitting all day. The sun is shining today which we Haven't seen for quite some time now. We need to dry out a bit here. It has gotten a bit colder too. I started reading some of the books I received for Christmas. Pretty good so far. I joined a swap on the main forum. I think it is the Cabin Fever one. Have to come up with some ideas for that.
What is everyone up to today.

Darlene, how is your physical therapy going? Do they have you up and walking yet? Or are you doing exercises to strengthen your leg first?

Very slow I get about 15 minutes a day little walking because I am only supposed to be toe touch only on that leg, I didn’t have any PT today.
I sure could have used it.
My oldest daughter is not doing good at all. Her hemoglobin is not doing good and her husband has not been able to be with her at all or see her or talk to her.,
Not good.

Darlene, I’m sorry about your daughter. I’ll keep praying for her. It’s so frustrating when we’re at the mercy of someone else and can’t get answers or be with our loved ones because of this virus mess. I hope that her husband will get some answers soon and hopefully get to see her! It would be good for both of them.

My daughter Vicki is in very serious shape, she has had Covid and in the hospital in New Mexico, her husband is at home an hour away. He is stressing out so much being away from her and feeling absolutely helpless and missing her terribly.
She was bleeding and we thought we were losing her.
They found out that she was having too much blood thinners and stopped some of that.
I told him the Hospital needed to put the phone close to her so she can hear his voice.
He is stressing so much!
I asking prayers for her that the hospital will find things that will help her improve more and more.

I'm sending prayers for Jeff...he is so stressed.
Do you know, Darlene, Do Jeff and Vicki have Jesus in their hearts???

Every year I have been in a huge hurry to get our dry and shedding tree out of the house...but this year it continues to be so pretty. I'm waiting until the second Christmas is over. That will be on January 7th. Eastern Orthodox

We put our tree up right before Christmas so it's surprisingly still green. We decided to keep it up through the end of this week. I'm not really ready to see it go yet...it's still pretty to have on in the evening.

Darlene, I am glad you are making some progress with your PT even though it seems so slow. Prayers for Vicki and this scary situation she is currently in too. Her poor husband I pray can get to her side somehow soon.

I had to take my tree down on Sunday because it had dried out terribly. I miss it! However, I keep a little fake tree up all year long in the same place as the Christmas tree, so I am glad to have that to enjoy every day.

Continuing to pray for Vicki and her husband.

Winnie, when JT put the tree away he just took it set up, without ornaments and put it in the basement storage room. That way we only have to put ornaments on and won't have to mess with the limbs. After a while of putting them up and down they get brittle and break off. Plus he didn't want to have to stick it back in the box.

I will try to get some pictures put on of our kitchen cabinets now that everything is finished in there.

Denise, I would like to see some photos of your new kitchen cabinets and I know it is nice to have the kitchen all finished up. It was a long transition but I am sure it was well worth it.

My daughter Vicki was pretty much Out of it but Jeff got to go be with her finally today. He said really wasn’t lucid but knew that he was there.
She has a long way so go yet. But coming along. It was so scary for everyone.
I had PT and OT in my room Because of Covid everyone is pretty much stuck in the rooms.
They took all the decorations down immediately after Christmas sad!
I have watched a lot of tv here Kind of boring.. I have painting a little bit but probably will work on it more tomorrow.tey are scenic pictures.
Anyway I lov ou all!
Blessings

Here are the pictures of the kitchen. The cabinets we added didn't need anything cut out so the install went much quicker. The old ones were the ones that gave us the trouble since they were custom made we couldn't match the stain and that's why we painted them. It was a lot of work since we had to strip the varnish off. Time consuming, but we are both happy with outcome. I've found with just the two of us I don't use the dishwasher much. The kitchen is smaller than the other house but I like it better. Much more functional.
