Winnie, are you "smitten" with those apples?
We just returned from sister's services in PA. Very nice memorial. Her husband and daughter wanted me to pick out some of her vintage hats she collected. They said she would have wanted me to have them. So nice of them. I brought home 3 of them.
Seems there is still so much to do yet for this move and I am tired out already. |

Two things I forgot. We did sign the contract for this house and we close the end of August. The other thing, my dad's pup went over the rainbow bridge and we didn't have to take him to the vet to do anything. I do miss him. He was a companion and had a long life. I don't think we will be getting any pups for quite awhile. |

Denise -- You have every right to be tired. You lost a sister-in-law and your Dad's pet, not to mention all the packing and readying your house for sale. Congratulations on signing the contract. You have a month+ to get ready to move. Now the a few days just for yourself to rest and regroup. You need it and you deserve it. |

Judith, we will be moving in about 2 weeks. We don't have to be here for closing on this house and we want to get in as soon as we can to the new house. They are delivering our furniture on the 5th. So we plan to be there to meet them. I didn't sleep well the last 2 nights at the hotel so I'm hoping being in my own bed tonight I will get some sleep. I am always hopeful. Lol. I will see if I can post some pictures of the hats in the morning. One is an off white wool beret. It needs washed but I need to be careful because it is wool. The other two are adorable little ones they wore in the 40s and 50s maybe. I'm not sure when but they are cute. I posted pictures of her herevin a couple of her hats probably 2 or 3 years ago. I wish I could find those pictures on here. |

Congratulations on signing for your new house! Sorry to hear about your father's dog.

Thanks Linda! It is strange to have both closings going as we've always sold our house first and then bought a new one but this time we close on the one we are buying first. I'll be glad to have them both over with. I'm going to celebrate by decorating for fall! My favorite time of year. Being in the apple swap will keep it going for me.
The peaches are ripe here and the black berries as well. I tried white peaches this year. They are so sweet and tasty! We took some to Jim's mom. She loves Jersey peaches.
Today I am meeting with a friend/old co worker for lunch. I wanted to get together with all three of the women I worked with, but one just had surgery and the other is ill so just the 2 of us will meet at the Amish Mkt for lunch. I have to start putting my gear into overdrive or turbo boost (lol) around here to finish packing. Doing the household by myself has been slow going lately. I'll post pictures later this morning of her hats.

My mother had some hats too. ( back in the olden days...1950s we dressed up to go to church....dress, stockings or socks for little children, gloves, a pretty hankie, and a hat. We only wore our BEST, when we went to God's house.) Anyway when we cleaned out mothers house...Julie found and saved the hats. So when Bay was a little one, she loved satin ribbons, soft lace, and beads. Julie had also saved mother's costume jewelry collection. So when Had got mobile...they had so much fun...playing dress up. |

Denise, very exciting to be moving to your new house now! I bet you are tired with all that has been going on. It just seems like big changes always have big impacts on many things in life. Hopefully, you will get some good sleep over the next few days.
Those hats are wonderful and in good condition as well. They do remind me of the hats my Mom always wore to church too. Remember the old fox furs that they wore in colder months? I remember sitting in church and petting it's soft fur. Wearing a animal fur around my neck these days would creep me out!! LOL!! Marilyn, your Sunday dress for church was exactly like what I grew up with. I usually only had a hat at Easter and then when I wore that dress in later months. I wasn't very keen on wearing them because I wasn't used things being on my head except a winter hat for playing outside in the snow.

I remember quite well the old ladies, purple hair precisely pinched into waves and plastered to their heads, with their little fox stole around their shoulders and necks. Some richy rich ladies had as many as three. Three little fox heads were always watching us kids, or so it seemed. I was grossed out! |

feels like you have to jump through hoops when selling or buying homes anymore. Good thing I'm a stickler about paperwork.
The home inspection and water test will be done July 30th. They say the buyers come along at those and the sellers leave but we won't be doing that. We aren't having stuff out and no one being here when they come into the house. Now I'm sure if it was empty and the realtor let them in, no problem, but I've never heard of them coming in while the house is unattended. |

Denise, like you...if the buyers are unknown to you...I doubt I would be willing to leave my things either. Another nightmare...that we ran into after moving here...while we were both at work each day, the brother of the old man we bought the house from would come and steal things from the out buildings. He only lived about two miles away. He did not take anything of ours, just antique odds and ends that the old couple did not choose to take with them to town. I was angry at him, but out of respect for the sweet old couple, both in their 80s, I never asked or told them any of it. |

Cancelled our trip to NY. There is just too much to do and not enough time to get it all done and a visit. I really wish we could but will have to wait till fall. I hope my aunt is still with us then. |

Denise -- You can do it. We're all pulling for you. It's a good thing we don't live closer or all the help would slow you down.( One of Mom's sayings was "Its the help I get that slows me down") |

Good luck , Denise, getting the rest of the packing finished. I know you are going to be so happy when you are finally at your destination and can sit down and just read a good book or do something fun, It has been a "working Summer" this year and you have had your plate full! |

Thanks Julie!
We are getting lots done and it seems everything has a way of falling into place. JT sold the last of his equipment and just has the truck and trailer left. Praying someone comes along for those also.
Allergies are playing havoc with me but trying to remember to keep on top of them with the meds. You all are so supportive and I am so grateful. I will send my new address to Sherry as soon as closing is over on Friday! Hugs to you all. |
